Is there a model shortage ?

There is an abundance of applicants to be Broke Straight Boys - we have more recently chosen the path of picking what we feel are the best applicants and working with them more...giving them more of a chance to be coached up and developed into better performers. Although you may notice less new models brought in this past year, I do believe we have really brought in a much better ratio of GOOD models that members want to see more and more of. We have found and helped develop some real winners this past year and look to increase those numbers in the year to come....I hope you can appreciate our approach

The problem with this is the site becomes more of a professional porn studio instead of an amateur one. I like the awkwardness of the early videos and the latest videos all seem like they belong at a studio that churns out one porno after another.

There are many fans of the amateur feel with the models and the shoot. No story lines or trying to get them to do dialogue. Just your young guys trying their hands at porn for some quick cash. Some of these models have dozens of appearances which makes it a bit boring for me.

You never really know based on pictures and Skype interviews how well someone will translate to doing scenes- some we don't expect as much from really surprise us (and vice versa) I DO like the experienced models sort of breaking in the new models as we tend to get a better overall scene. I do understand liking the awkwardness of a new guy with a new guy...and we do try that sometimes- problem is most of those scenes don't get rated very high as they can be a little TOO awkward and very quiet...non-animated and lack any sort of passion. We keep mixing it up for the members as everyone has differing opinions and want to keep everyone happy.

I have to agree that Adam Stripz has really underwhelmed in his solo. It may sound like a really fun idea to get a stripper in a favorite club to apply to the site and get him naked on the set. But he just doesn't fit the Broke Straight Boys mold. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised in his upcoming scenes.

We shot his sex scene before we released his solo...figured we would give him a full shot at a scene on the site- as always...we don't keep bringing back a model if YOU the members do not give good reviews. He was something different to bring into the studio...we do take chances sometimes on "different" - hope you get something out of his scene

One other thing I liked is the use of actual roommates who needed cash. They are awkward and yet comfortable enough with each other to do sexual things. It is like a best friend as well who you grew up with and saw each other naked a lot. They aren't too shy with each other as they would be with a total stranger.

Hi Beth, no, on this occasion I was going through The Boys section and noticed the difference in the amount of newbies that had come through the door this year, compared to other years. As you know, as part of the forum police i would never share my personal experience on this side of the fence.

Besides totally admiring your avatar Iggy, I also agree that the amateur feel of the site, especially in the early days of BSB1 are my favorite scenes ever on Broke Straight Boys, and that is where we also saw several sets of supposed roommates or buddies including my favorite pair of Alden & Robert, plus Zakk & Kyler, Mike Robbins & Josh and Torin & Steve. Whether any or all were "real" buddies before the scene, they were believable real straight friends who wound up having sex with each other for the cash, and that fantasy sizzles for me.

Indeed the "Tyler Evans Show" was compelling must watch internet TV for me. He was everything that Broke Straight Boys stood for, as he initially appeared as a very cute, even shy straight kid who attended the auto show with his dad, and we watched month after month as the great David Adamson worked his magic with Tyler, as he "came out of his shell" to develop into a terrific sexual performer.

In my opinion the introduction and development of Tyler was the most compelling Broke Straight Boys performer in the history of the site, not necessarily the hottest, and by the end, he had metomorpisized into something quite different, but the journey was fascinating to me. I concur with Jon and highly recommend that any new fan of the site go back to Tyler's earliest episodes and watch them in order to see "The Tyler Evans Show", a great "Broke Straight Boys miniseries".

I do like the development of the models and it's nice to see them hang around for a longer period of time. There have been a lot of guys in the past who I thought were incredible but they only did 3 or 4 scenes and some didn't even do that many. I realize it does not mean that Broke Straight Boys didn't want them it could very well be that the model didn't want to return for what ever reason.

I also found it very exciting in the past when I had the feeling that David just picked a boy up on the beach or at the park and talked him into jerking off for money then lead him down the road of depravity. hehehe Realistically I had the feeling that was all staged but I didn't care. I'm still not sure about the time David was out with Deisel and they picked up the skater dude? It really seemed like it was spontaneous but I do admit that is pretty unlikely. It is a fantasy of a lot of gay men to pick up a straight dude in a public place and take him somewhere for a little fun. I do miss that aspect of the scenes. I think the FL set was the right stage for those scenes, it fit the spontaneous scenario. It would be kind of hot if Johnny and Damien went out hunting for trade and took them to a seedy motel room for some fun.
