That's kind of interesting to know that the cost of rental housing is very close. I'm told by relatives visiting from the Midwest that groceries in Florida are more expensive. Do you find a difference between the cost of groceries here vs. Colorado, Paul?

Being a liberal kind of city, we have something here called rent stabilization, which is an offshoot of rent control which is for people who've lived in their apartment consecutively since before 1971. I moved in here into a one bedroom "rent stabilized" apartment in 1976, and my rent can only be raised a fixed percentage every one or two years based on the lease I sign. The percentages are decided in contentious negotiations every year between the landlord's and tenant's associations. Suffice it to say, my neighbors in this building, and especially my neighbors in the old brownstones elsewhere in my neighborhood pay up to ten times what I pay for a comparable apartment, and most are much larger with the high ceilings and ornate wood designs which are usually owned by the wealthier folks.
So I am a poor man living for many years, in a upper class neighborhood.
So Jimmy Carter was president when you moved into your place. That's been a while now. haha
So you're saying you're either wealthy from the money you saved...or it's a politically correct way of saying you live in the projects.
xoSeriously though, thank goodness for rent control or at least a fourth of the population would have had to leave their home and city for parts unknown.

Rent in Seattle is very reasonable as long as you live away from downtown. I live in N. Seattle in a very cute 2 bedroom house on a corner lot. Grocery prices are low and gas is $3.89 gal. Nice place to live, oh yea we're the super bowl champs too!! Sorry folks I have all year to say that and will continue to do so! lol

It's funny how a thread starts out, and ends about something completely different!! Yum I love coffee ice cream, oh what a surprise it's plentiful in Seattle haha
I'll take that as a compliment! Lol
the last time I had coffee ice cream I was hyped up for about 2 days, I think it was because I'm also a major coffee drinker.lol

Major coffee drinker huh? You would love Seattle then, downtown has a Starbucks on every corner and probably a shop within a block or two from anywhere else in the city. We love our coffee here!! p.s. Mikeyank only has 1 cup of coffee a day how wrong is that! It's 11:45 pm and I'm brewing a pot right now lol

I love my coffee its the only hot drink I have. I drink it more than any other drink. I didnt know there was coffee ice cream, ive been mising out and damn thats all I can think of now. Emmmmmm coffee

We've had the "thread police" on here in the past, and now we have the "coffee police" too! It's 4 AM here and in a couple of hours I will have my cup of coffee. What are you going to do Peter, call the police and say it is illegal????? lol
