Recently I have been looking for books with gay main characters. Or maybe something hot, like 50 Shades of Grey, but with gay characters... And I found out most of them are written by Women. I got really surprised... Nothing against women witting about gay men, but everybody always say that boys sucks cock better because they know how it feels? Shouldn't the same principle apply here? Men can write better about men?

Anyway... do you ever read this kind of book? Do you have any recommendations?

Bartirah, it is true that many of the great gay literature is written by women. However I think you should give some of those books and authors a chance, for as you and Beth have proven on this board, as other women in the past have proven, including my bestie Ms. K, LoveLumps and Miss. Diedra among others that women can be great fans and well versed on gay erotica and sensibilities.

I would highly recommend you find a copy of "The Front Runner" a 1974 novel by Patricia Nell Warren, which is a fabulous book. She wrote other novels which I loved. Here is a brief description of "The Front Runner", from Wikipedia.

This is the entire article from which I quoted the above sentence.

For years we had heard that Paul Newman was going to produce a movie version of the novel. This is also from the Wikipedia article.

"Film adaptation[edit]
Soon after its publication, The Front Runner became a subject of interest for adaptation as a motion picture. The subsequent decades saw a series of producers and directors involved in adapting the film; most notably Paul Newman, as well as Frank Perry, Arthur Allan Seidelman, and Jeremy Larner.[4] None of these efforts resulted in a motion picture.
In 2002, Patricia Nell Warren recovered film rights to the novel, and announced plans to produce a film with her business partner Tyler St. Mark.[5] Warren and St. Mark’s partnership was dissolved in 2013, and full ownership of rights transferred solely to Warren.[6][7]"

And here is a synopsis from another website.

SYNOPSIS

"The Front Runner" novel takes place in the 1970s, in a time when the U.S. is exploding with change. Ex-Marine Harlan Brown, 39, is a hard-shell conservative and coaches track at a small obscure college. Brown has given up his dream of coaching Olympic athletes and buried himself there because he's gay and in the closet. His fear of exposure is the reason why he had left a more prestigious job at Penn State. Coaching big-time athletes might bring attention to his private life and his secret.

A bombshell is dropped when he has the chance to coach distance runner Billy Sive, 22. Billy is talented, with Olympic potential, but he's destroying himself with incorrect training. He's also gay and his plans to "come out" are unknown to Harlan. Brown reluctantly agrees to coach Sive. But as he argues about the type of training with his protégé, he's horrified to find they are falling in love with each other. As rumors about a relationship between the two men start spreading, the moralistic elements in the sports world make it clear that they'll stop at nothing to keep Sive and his coach from representing America at the Olympic Games."

"The Front Runner is a 1974 novel by Patricia Nell Warren. A love story between a running coach and his star athlete, The Front Runner is noted for being the first contemporary gay novel to achieve mainstream commercial and critical success.[1]"

Please read this book Bartriah and give us your review. I would be most curious.

I suggest you read "Call Me By Your Name" by Andre Aciman, if you can find it. It has been made into a movie and will be coming out this fall. Lots of great reviews of the book when it came out 6-7 years ago. I found it to be one of the best "gay" content books I have ever read.

Thank you boys! I was able to find both books! I bought a digital version on The Front Runner on my Kindle and I found a paper version of Call me by your name who will be delivered to Brazil in about 14 days. There is no translation of none of these books on Portuguese.

Thank you so much for the suggestions!
