We have tolerated enough bashing in threads. You guys can provide negative comments but we aren't going to stand by and let the site and models be bashed. What we need is constructive criticism. We are working on improving things and working on some changes. Bashing us does no good and I'm not going to stand here and let members call models queers and harsh words like that. If you are just going to bash us then your post will be deleted.

Mark

I'll second that because to me changes are something positive in life. They are not hard to deal with at all if you see them as an opportunity instead of a setback. Its depressive to read the same negative reactions over and over. Those that are unhappy please deal with it! If you are in a bad mood, please don’t spread it round like the flue. Why not give some useful suggestions instead? Bashing seldom brings a positive result; call me a queer.

Mark, I haven't been able to read all the posts from the time the post-David scenes started to be uploaded, but it seems to me that a lot of the really aggressive comments were essentially what you are asking for, constructive criticism. They might have been impolite and insulting, but in the end many of them, if you read between the lines, were giving you useful input.

The thing I worry about is that prospective members may be able to access the forum before they sign up, at just the moment when they are still deciding if this is a site with scenes that will give them a stiffy leading to an orgasm. Censorship is anti-American, and self-censorship is very anti-forumite, but if the negative comments are threatening the continued success of the site I for one would be willing to cool it. In my case the problem is that I am enjoying the episodes and have been saying so. The changes are all actually on point, with small exceptions, principally those that echo practices current on other websites that aren't as good as Broke Straight Boys (the paper currency for instance). There's stuff that is of course still unresolved, some of which we'll have to get used to, some of which may need tweaking. But all in all...

Here's my constructive criticism for the day: Apparently Jimmy is eventually gonna be doing a BrokeJimmy thread, and chatting with us on the forum. I personally would far rather get to know "Matthew" first. If he got in here, like tomorrow at the latest, and started fielding some questions and quibbles, you'd have this whole thing defused in no time. I really like the sound of him, and think he'd be terrific in a forum situation. Is there any chance of that?

Here's my constructive two cents, for what it's worth. While I'm not completely comfortable with the new models (they seem far too aggressive to me) I can live with them. What really bugs the hell out of me is the haggling for money. To quote Dolly Parton from Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. "it's down right tacky!!!!!" There's a fine line between being a hustler and working in porn. The constant haggling crosses that line for me. It's almost embarrassing to watch and listen to. I have no problem with changes. One doesn't live to be 71 without going through a hellluva lot of them. The money and haggling just seem so much more prominent than it used to be, and it bugs me no end.

I think constructive criticism can be worded in a way better way than calling a model a fag. I want to hear the bad comments but I'm also not going to stand by the endless bashing. I think there is a more mature way to post comments.

As for Matthew which btw would rather be called Clay he reads every single thread on here. I haven't decided yet if it would be beneficial for him to post here and I think we need to give the scenes more time. I have talked to him about many suggestions which he has already implemented.

Thanks for your constructive criticism. We have already toned down the money haggling in newer scenes. :)

Here's a suggestion

Mark,
I haven't posted in the forum for a while because I got so damn disgusted with the money I had been wasting with Broke Straight Boys I even stopped watching Broke Straight Boys episodes and just tuned in for the bonus sites. I like to think that my old posts were informative to you if they were read.
So here are a few comments for you...

- The new models are hot, so we don't currently have any "dirty Leon" issues.
- I understand that the new models have to be broken in, so we're seeing solos, etc.
- I also understand that the current episodes were in the can a while back.
With that being said, how about just editing the upcoming episodes to get rid of at least SOME of the haggling.

When better than half of the scene is dialog (and much of it BORING dialog, at that), it's easy for me to switch to another site. By the time that I've fast-forwarded through most of the scene, there's not much left that's engaging enough to stay.

There have only been like two really interesting episodes so far. I have started skipping straight to the bonus sites again.

Tell Clay he has a huge fan on the island of Mallorca. This fan thinks getting him on the forum would be amazing.

You're right that the discourse here, like in Washington, has become ever more antagonistic and insulting, and people should cool it. But in the meantime you guys at Blu should garner all you can from all the comments. I would hate for the argument here to influence potential members negatively; as far as we all are concerned, Blu and Forum, we know there's basically no animosity per se.

Constructive criticism is a two way street. Thanks for letting us know his name!

Clay, it is.

Now will you let me go back and edit every one of my posts? I promise all I will do is changed Matthew to Clay.

And as for your broader point, with constructive criticism going both ways, can you guarantee us that we won't see further instances of negative stereotypes of gay people and gay sex coming from your models? In lubetube's excellent post, he comments how your models have said that they want to "wash the shame" and have used the term "fucking faggot". That has no place here. There is a world of difference in Derek, in one of the final videos for Broke Straight Boys 1.0, being uncomfortable because he's covered with other guys' cum, maybe for the first time, and the almost antiseptic rejection of their actions in the Jimmie and Matt video. These models make us feel dirty.

Dear Marrk,

It is a fact that no matter what you, or any site owner releases in the way of episodes there are bound to be members who hated this or that. You have to ask, who were the 7% of baseball writers who DIDN'T select Babe Ruth for the Hall of Fame? lol

It must be frustrating at iimes. Also, ad hominem or general attacks and insults whether directed at models OR other site members is a no-no. It's you right to delete those whenever you see them.

However I wouldn't classify the great majority of the critical comments here as "bashing."

Thanks Mark

First, Thanks for your additions to the forum. I appreciated your acknowledgement of some of the changes already being made. I know that I have been very vocal about the new videos, but I hope I never used any derogatory words about you or the new format. I know I feel better know that I, and other members know that some tweaking is being done already.

Thanks again for a great site
Ed Tobey

Once more, a great post by you. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite posters. :thumbup1:

I have to think the last two days have been particularly hard ones for both Mark and Clay. There wasn't much positive said about the Jimmy/Matt video, and the negative comments, including both yours and mine, were brutal. There are just so many times you can get kicked before you lash out and yell, "Stop kicking me!"

Brass balls, Mark, brass balls. In an earlier post, I complimented you on your wearing them. Let them hang outside your pants and wear them proudly.

This forum is a great place to visit, it can be so much fun. With the wallpaper of complaints lately, I could decorate my living room.

It takes some episodes before suggestions can be picked up. And I am really looking forward to the next two episodes with Vinnie. All he has to do for me is to sit naked on the Futon and talk with that horny voice of his.

You don't know what you've been missing until it arrives!

Mark, I think the new stuff has a lot of potential. I kind of liked how David would say he would like to get a fuck scene or an oral scene or whatever and ask what the feel is reasonable to be paid to do that. That really seemed to work.

Something that might work along those lines is asking the models what they would be willing to do that is different than they have tried before with another guy and what would be a fair price for that. It offers two dynamics one the person is actually committing to something they are willing to try and what they would do that scene for.

The whole flashing the cash and saying things like, "I just got fucked for money" to me comes across as a little degrading.

I kind of miss the models expressing whether or not they enjoyed the experience or if they think they would ever do it again at the end of a scene.

I guess I am not sure if the idea of the site is to see how far straight guys will go for money or if money tip a straight guys curiosity to try gay sex. Seems like a little of both kind of going on here. I think a little variety along those lines is always good. And it will keep people guessing. :thumbup1:

My favorite four questions to ask in general surveys are:
  1. What do you like the most about Broke Straight Boys?

  2. What do you like the least about Broke Straight Boys?

  3. How do you think it could be made even better?

  4. Would you recommend Broke Straight Boys to a friend? why or why not?

In general you will get some off the hook answers at times but I think you will get great responses that can help...

O.K. everyone pick a corner and take a 5 minute time out!
I agree that name calling should not be tolerated. I also agree that if the models are using derogatory terms that these terms/words should be edited. It is not only the models on the new Broke Straight Boys, but I remember some of the older models using such words. Remember Ashton using the "N" word and David making some off color remarks. So before we all get our boxers in a bunch, lest not start picking on the new guy. Some of the same haggling appeared in the older Broke Straight Boys scenes, quite often Dustin and Ashton would dicker, no pun intended, for the amount they would be paid. It is only in the newer scenes that David would say the price is this for that and that for this. Maybe a chart could be posted with the going rate for each activity and a set rate for a combo. It could be like a menu where the models choose from column A or column B, or they could pick an activity out of a fishbowl with the set amount noted on the slip they chose.
Anyhow, I am going to my corner to serve my time out, something I am very accustomed too. Many a day was spent in the corner during my childhood. Now that I am at college I am getting away with stuff I never imagined I could do let alone get away with :)

Time out over.
I was just kidding about the chart and the menu idea. BUT having the models pick ideas out of a fishbowl could be a fun concept.

Thanks Mark for saying something.... I might start reading the threads again. It seems recently the threads are all just guys complaining... they must be miseable in life. Thanks Mark.

Now we're making it sound more like a game show, Clay is the host, and the performers are contestants.

Do we, or should we really care about the process they follow to get a scene off the ground?

Are things becoming so disastrous that we're now resorting to grasping at straws?

It seems to me that considerably more thought and effort should go into the meat of the scene. Not the haggling or negotiating, but more along the lines of the *sex*. After all, isn't that the fundamental reason why most of us joined?

Personally I couldn't care less how much haggling and negotiating goes on, other than the shorter and briefer the better. I never watch that part anyway, I always fast forward to them getting naked and watching them have sex.

But if a scene is one-sided, lacks passion, a connection and/or chemistry between the guys, that translates through the camera and over to the viewers.

On one hand, the lack of a connection and passion seems to appeal to the members who love seeing totally straight guys. But on the other hand, different members find that boring, unexciting, and dull.

Personally, I have to see kissing...at least occasionally. Not all the time, because then it just becomes boring too. And being told to kiss on cue doesn't even count, because then it just becomes another a la carte item. But an occasional scene where the guys connect, and let a kissing session slip in during foreplay and/or fucking can be red hot!

But at the rate things are going now, it'll be a year and a half and 50 more new models before anyone is going to see any unprompted kissing go on.

For the fans of straight-guys-only, think back to your real-life experiences with straight guys. Tell me that some of your experiences with truly straight guys didn't involve at least occasional kissing.

There are various aspects to some of the more member-favorited scenes from days past, that I will try to focus on and present as I see them.

1. Alden and Jamie

One of the earliest scenes, but one of the most passionate ones ever filmed on Broke Straight Boys Two straight boys suck each other's cocks, and then end up fucking. There is an obvious connection between the two, yet they are believable at being straight. Plus, when the top is fucking the bottom (forget who is who), you can hear the sounds of them kissing for awhile as they're fucking. You don't get to see it, and you can barely hear it, but you know it's there.

2. Sebastian and Alex

Again, two more straight boys. While Alex's straight credentials can seem questionable, they still do a decent job pulling it off. But as Alex is sucking Sebastian, his cock is rock hard without being touched just from sucking Sebastian's cock. The haggling goes on for awhile, but they finally agree to fuck. Once they do, they're both loving it. And again, we are treated to the sounds of some hot, passionate kissing as they're fucking.

3. Ross and Erik

Two more straight boys, who come into the scene thinking they're there to fuck girls, for the "brokestraightgirls" site. We find out they share the same girlfriend, which they themselves don't know until they find out during the scene. Do they hate each other and want to kick each other's ass? Kind of. Because David has them take off their clothes, sit back down, and start kissing. Which they do, and Ross starts getting visibly hard without touching his cock just from kissing Erik. From there, they begin taking turns doing oral on each other, with various segments of more kissing, before the fucking begins (bareback I might add). While Erik is pounding Ross, they start hitting each other with a belt while fucking! Not in a painful manner, but more in a playful male-vs-male domination type manuever. And I'd like to add that that scene was one of the few times that any sort of hardware or "props" was used in a scene. Normally, David focused way more on the models' interactions with each other than with inanimate objects or haggling over price and negotiations.

4. Rabib and Daxter part 2

Not a lot of kissing or passion shown from Rabib's facial expressions, overall bored attitude until he gets fucked and especially at the end, but Daxter came into this scene quiet, but raring and ready to fuck. From the minute he took off his clothes with this shit eating grin on his face, shucking off his pants revealing an 80% hard cock, he pounds Rabib (who to me, seemed to love it even though he seemed to me like he was *trying to act like he didn't*. The scene ends with Daxter pulling out and shooting his entire load into Rabib's open mouth, and then leans back on his haunches with a look of pure ecstasy on his face as Rabib proceeds to lick his cock clean of every drop of cum as though it's the most delicious vanilla ice cream cone he's ever eaten! Followed by Rabib continuing to suck Daxter's softening cock, as if he's a baby suckling on a bottle! By this time everyone is breathless, and basking in afterglow.

5. Porn Shane and Josh

Wow. These guys were really into each other, that was obvious. There wasn't even any fucking, but the kissing was oh-so hot. These guys were nibbling on each others lips, kissing each other's noses, and obviously so into each other. I'll bet Josh, wherever he is, still wakes up in the middle of the night dreaming of Shane: I just hope he doesn't scream his name, and that it doesn't also wake his girlfriend up next to him.

6. Diesal and Jimmie parts 1 2 and 3

I saved the best for last Ms.

Diesal and Jimmie is where Diesal literally reinvents himself in front of our eyes. Prior to these scenes, Diesal was the big friendly oaf, with the non-stop smile and the good natured joking and having fun...not to mention the big, perpetually semi-hard cock and balls that dance when they're licked, and the long powerful legs. What a super masculine, hot, powerful body he has on him. Jimmie was a Broke Straight Boys newbie, who seemed like the playful and friendly grocery store carryout guy. When these two got together, the sparks flew! They kissed each other from start to finish, with passion and chemistry that cannot be manufactured or prompted.

Diesal transformed himself from a friendly clown with a smile to a big dicked powerhouse fucking machine...Jimmie became his adoring powerbottom. At times while Diesal was fucking and kissing him, he grabbed Jimmie's throat and fucked with a passion and intensity that showed in his eyes, which Jimmie saw too because their eyes were locked onto each other.

The Diesal and Jimmie mini-series should have received an academy award nomination for best performers! And I might add, that before the Jimmie and Diesal scenes, they could have both pulled off the roles of any one of the current crop of guys on the new Broke Straight Boys..the difference being that they both have great personalities and had a lot of fun in each one of their scenes.

What did the above scenes contain that are lacking in the new content? Again, they were all about the interactions between the guys in the scenes. The haggling and negotiations, along with the pre-sex interviews were merely important, but brief intros to get the scenes started. They were oftentimes funny, contained information needed to understand the guys and their "story", showed their personality (and sometimes showed their discomfort and nervousness), sometimes corny, but always ended quickly so the hot sex could commence.

On a porn-site, the members join to watch hot sex -- period.
