Do we have any collectors on the Forum?

I actually do collect stuff apart from the aforementioned items. I collect concert tickets stubs to those that I have been to. I also am an avid collector of Vinyl records.

Jon, if memory serves me correctly, you are from the UK. This is also big here in the USA. There is discussion in the field concerning the sound quality among the various recording formats. Is the sound quality on the old Vinyl records better than the current technology?

I have been collecting Wizard of Oz for the past 35 years and have over 5,000 items. I also collect Tarzan, Harry Potter, Judy Garland,Gone With the Wind, Dark Shadows (the original series, not this new movie),I Love Lucy, celebrity autographs, and a few small collections. Now, aren't you sorry you askied? LOL

Wow! I would not like to be the cleaning(dusting) person in your abode. If you are having fun, go for it. Be careful not to think of all of this as an investment. It is a hobby. If you bought these collectibles retail, they are probably worth less than you paid.

Having lived in Florida for twenty some years, I started collecting alligators. I haven't added to my collection of over 200 gators since relocating to Ohio (not a lot of gators here). I have gators made from ceramics, wood, glass, pewter, and sand. I have gator oven mits, clocks, ash trays, just to name a few. My favorites are three gator eggs with the baby alligators breaking through the shells in various phases. And yes, I'm a big fan of "Swamp People".

Tim, my late father left me lots of vinyl LPs - in the hundreds actually. The family also have quite a few vinyl 45s - my aunt has a massive Tamla Motown 45 collection. Her father has some 78rpm vinyls too. The Everly Brothers and Paul Anka I do believe.

Vinyl is on its way back over here in the UK. In my opinion analogue sound is better because it is not sampled, as is digital. Sure you get crackles on the old or not so looked after vinyls, but hey, that's all part of it.

The vinyls that are valued over here are the 50s Black groups - pre-Elvis. If you can find the old 45s with the covers, you are in the money. I assume you have flea markets or street fairs in your part of the world. I have four big markets within an hour drive from where I live.

Tim 114,
There is a lot of dusting but I only do a lot of that when I am getting ready for my Christmas Open House in December.
I know that the market for a lot of collectable stuff is way down these days... as if almost everything..... but I never started any collection as an investment... but for fun.

I collect native American baskets - Pomo or Hintil. I learned to weave them also and have done a number over the years. Now I do pine needle baskets - they're easier and quicker to do. I could knock one out in a week or two depending on the design and size.

@Angelone.
I love baskets also. They can be quite beautiful. I have some the the African ones. They can be quite expensive.

I have a collection of corkscrews. I also have a quite large collection of Fiesta dishes and serving pieces from the 1930's and '40's, as well as the modern pieces.

Here is a pic of my favorite corkscrew.
