Getting rid of Paul and Damien over
Vadim Black is kind of like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Vadim Black isn't all that, when someone is bad you'd think a simple slap on the wrist would suffice. Instead of banning them from the forum I would have rather they had been told to apologize. Then again maybe they were and they refused and they escalated the problem instead of defused it. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes it could be quite complicated.
When I saw the Denver Pride BTS with no Damien and no Paul that spoke volumes to me, if the faces of
Broke Straight Boys aren't at the premier pride event something is going on. The stars should have been there while the B team was sent out to do the lessor events. You can't fight city hall if you push management up against a wall you're going to lose that's the way it works in business weather we like it or not. I don't like it but management has to do what is best for the company.
Why are we seeing so much of Kadyn and Tyler and Skyler, it seems like they are the only models they have left who can drop everything and show up for a shoot on a regular basis. Maybe
Broke Straight Boys was hoping if they featured these boys we'd accept them as the new face of
Broke Straight Boys? Doesn't seem to be working so far, but again they are featured in another BTS and will probably be featured in upcoming scenes. I think I'd rather see a digitally remastered classic scene than see another kaydyn and Tyler scene.
When I came back I was surprised to see Damian Christopher's involvement in the site, he has a very prestigious film career and has worked with a lot of big names in Hollywood. I thought it was weird that he was getting involved with porn, it seems kind of like a step down to me. No offense to the porn industry but it does seem to be looked down upon by the mainstream film community. I thought maybe he was brought in to help get the ball rolling for the TV show and give it that extra umpf they needed to be taken seriously. I would suspect to get a big name like Damian Christopher involved they would have to sweeten the pot and make him an offer he couldn't refuse. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't given shares in the business or made some kind of a partner?
Damian does have style and a way of doing things but personally I don't like his filming and editing style, it's too fast paced too artistic and more MTV video. His pieces almost give me motion sickness with all the fast edits and quick shots not something I want to see in porn, I want to see details and get a good look at the guys and all their parts. I like well produced professional looking porn but I don't want it to have an artsy feel to it.
I could more easily believe the line about Johnny being sick if he wouldn't have been completely absent from the forums for the past couple weeks. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. Was that Damien in the Denver BTS who said he was straight? What does a straight man know about gay porn? Maybe it's discrimination but I don't care I want my gay porn done by a gay director and a gay cameraman because those straight guys don't have a clue what turns me on, it's not something you can learn it's something you have to live.
I think
Broke Straight Boys TV ruined this site because they lost focus on what got them to where they are. What's the point of having a TV show about a bunch of guys who no longer work for you? That's not a favorable outcome for the porn company with a heart of gold.
Thanks for the comments. Here's a little story for you. I became involved in the show when they needed a showrunner to come in and help develop it. I was in the middle of working on my documentary in Nepal and the orphanage I volunteer my time to, but upon hearing about the show, I became intrigued by the notion of straight men doing gay porn and by the industry as a whole. I've always dated "straight men" and could relate to it. As a result, I helped the show evolve from its original concept to what it is today. We have a colorful cast of characters with varying issues and we decided to concentrate on that while developing the new show. There are some amazing stories to tell here. Not only do we get to go behind the scenes of Blumedia, but you also get to know the guys more intimately. These guys range from boys from broken homes, foster kids, homeless kids, kids who had substance abuse problems and are trying to fight it, girlfriends and wives who have to deal with their men having sex with men, and all types of other things. I focus on projects with a powerful story to tell and this was right up my alley. As far as being ostracized by the mainstream community, I don't have a problem with that. A good friend of mine that has directed several films that have grossed over a billion dollars gave me some great advice. He asked me two things. One, do I feel like I am revealing something very few people know anything about and two, is it a compelling and engrossing story? My answer was yes to both. We produced a great show and that's all that matters.
The show hasn't made us lose focus at all. Within the company, I handle the TV show and everyone else is business as usual and focused on the product. The show actually made us take notice of how different we are from most porn companies. Porn companies where the focus is sex is not exempt from moralization. We genuinely care about our models and their well being and it shows. That doesn't happen anywhere else. Mark runs a great organization with a great team. I will go on the record and say that it is a full time job handling the models and their idiosyncrasies. I will stop at that. We have an amazing house mom/ manager that keeps these guys in line. If it wasn't for her and her enforcement of the rules, it would be pandemonium. Actually, chaos would be a better term. There is one scene in an episode of the show where the guys go nuts when they think the staff is sleeping and, while it was hilarious for TV, they ended up wreaking havoc on a very expensive house and it took almost a full day to clean up. If someone destroys your expensive house and things, I can't imagine someone would give a simple slap on the wrist and that's it. For some, this is a quick buck and they treat it as such. Others put their heart and souls into it. That's why it's hard for me to read some of the negative comments sometime. If the poster only knew the guy, they may not be as critical or harsh. At the end of the day, it's a business that is always striving to get better and has a very vocal set of loyal fans that have created a great community.
Should we tell you everything that goes on. No. If you ask about certain things then maybe we can shed more light on the situation, but some things are left alone for business reasons. These are young guys who can be unpredictable at times, but they feel safe here and really trust us (especially during the interviews) and we do our best to protect them. Some of them have never known what it means to be a family until now.
Vadim Black was brought back because he asked to come back. The team evaluated the situation and now he's back with a new attitude and renewed vigor. We didn't replace anyone else for him. That would be silly. Not sure how that got started, but it is false. The fact that he came back to us and not someone else speaks volumes. Whatever the issue between him and
Damien Kyle&Paul is not worth repeating here. We only get involved if it concerns their performance in the studio, affects business, or they ask us to. It's between them and should have never been discussed on the forums. It's a delicate balance by revealing as much as we do about our business. In the show, and in real life, you have your models that are good guys and you have your villains. There are some shocking revelations during the show and many things will become clearer when you see it. Like you saw in the official trailer, it is fascinating stuff. With some families, you have the mother, the father, and the child. This is our own version of a family—porn stars.
My shooting style is very different for
Broke Straight Boys than other clients and is not for everyone. It is more comparable to what today's trends are in television (and reality tv), but I do try to give a more amateur feel for
Broke Straight Boys My personal style is much different and is more reflective of what you see in my photography--more in tune with today's trends. My way of editorializing the porn talent I shoot is to create stylized images that are more provocative, thought provoking than images that are purely raunchy. But, I can do raunchy too. However, we've gotten a lot of attention from the mainstream media for our BTS and its style (most recently in Cosmopolitan Magazine) Not everyone will like it, but in shooting porn for
Broke Straight Boys while Johnny is out, I hope to achieve an aesthetic that gets the porn wheels turning—an ironic touch that’s light enough not to compromise the simple pleasures of whacking off. My scenes are fun. It’s not the same old blah-blah-blah. They’re not formulaic. The content, actually, verges on that—sex is hard to reinvent. What’s different is the sensibility. In adapting to shoot porn, there isn't anything I can't conform to. What I don't know, I teach myself. There isn't anything I can't learn to do and do effectively. My scene with Ian and
Zeno Kostas is something I'm proud of and hopefully shows that. I like porn, know what gay men like to do and see, and hope that comes across in any other scenes i'm asked to do in the future. We all go through our *sexual phases, and appetites change. Some like it and some don't. It's with anything you do.
Johny is sick and I'm sure the forums are the last thing on his mind. As for the show and the cast, we knew going into it that some models may decide to retire, move on, or be unavailable. However, our guys crave attention and will not turn down the opportunity to promote themselves when it comes down to Hollywood.
That was a lot. Tried to answer as much as I could. Good night!
