Boring forum

Sorry to say this guys, but he forum is getting rather boring of recent. People keep on bringing up threads of olds and there is nothing new. I've been checking on the main Message Board page where I used to see lots of members on line, but now only see a few.

So what's happened. Are we all being politically correct, Afraid of our shadow ?
Frightened of upsetting people FFS ? Is this what Chuck and the rest of Broke Straight Boys mgmt wanted when they kicked off recently ??


You may have noticed that myself and quite a few of the regulars have not been posting of late and I can assure you it is of no coincidence. And there is no collusion as I can honestly say I have not had a PM in days.

I've also not posted on films of recent either, 'cos they havn't rocked my boat but maybe the next two will.

Come on you girls and lads.... let's get back to where we were a few months ago and HATE everyone lol..... Get your gloves off..

You bring up alot of good points Jon. I've missed hearing from you. And I agree with most of what you're saying. I hope you're well.

I can only speak for myself but my interest has waned recently because the last few weeks of updates have been less than inspiring for me. I think there is a direct correlation between the quality of the updates and the traffic in the forum. I think the Broke Straight Boys stable of models needs a big injection of new blood. The "new" models we've been introduced to lately have not had many of us dancing in the streets of Forumland.

Of course there are other non porn related threads that people can start. For instance I applaud Zyl for starting the thread "It Gets Better". He did a great service by catching us all up to speed on the subject. Even beating the news cycle of the other non internet media by 24 hours in some cases.

Hold on to those gloves my friend. It seems to be getting a little colder on the forum. Unfortunately, I feel that the forum is almost starting in a death spiral. Look at the dwindling number of daily posts and new threads as an indicator of it's relative state of good health. I truly enjoyed writing in the past months and the topics were more than motivating. Furthermore, I was excited about attempting to make less serious posts witty or, at least, an attempt at being witty. I even got several responses praising me for my writing ability, be that as it may. Many of my longer posts I would regularly spend 3 or more hours in composing and I was enjoying it so I was in a state of euphoria, back then almost 300 posts ago.

As we all know, nothing lasts forever. Now, it is as if my previous sources of inspiration, just like Elvis,...have "left the building". Recently, I got started on a post spending two or more hours on it and then I trashed. It was because so few seem to care anymore and/or I am merely wasting my time and energy as it is not appreciated. To write in my style with complete abandon, is difficult enough without some much needed feedback from your readers or new threads to generate ideas. To that I most especially want to mention and humbly thank "Underwear fun" and "Clock12" for their loyalty as being my most encouraging forum members to date. Also, others have added greatly to the interchange of ideas and the "fun" of writing on this forum such as Jayman1, Carking01, Ms. Kianna, SA7140???, Mikeyank, wannabepreppie, and I am sure to have overlooked some other frequent contributors(pardon my poor memory).

I am not here to say good-bye just yet, because, ultimately, there will be variations in the responsiveness of people over time in most forums. I usually am the last to pull out anyway.(no pun intended) Regrettably, I truly feel I am on my last legs here much to my personal disappointment. It truly meant a great deal to me personally preoccupying much of my day at it's peak. For those of you who are not a fan, I'm sure your attitude about my contributing on the forum is that of "good-riddance" and "don't let the door hit you on the way out! What I would like to add to that is, thats just the way it should be! I never expected to have everybody eating out of my hand, anyway. I am opinionated and that oner factor can part the Red Sea.

If anybody is good at restoring life to the forum, I ask that you please stand up now and be counted. Otherwise, you have no one to blame but yourself. I imagine this forum has been nothing but a thorn in the side of management anyway. They would find it one less headache were it inactivated.

I am not officially signing off but I am still considering my options. I welcome your comments, both pro and con.

People start complaining. And then somehow it always seems to get a breath of fresh life and things pick up again. The forum needs thoughtful contributors such as yourself. Certainly not fewer of them. Please don't feel that your opinions and posts are unappreciated. They are.

We have some very good and articulate writers in here. Such as yourself and the many you mentioned above. My mind has been elsewhere lately and my mother has not been feeling well. So I have been trying help her out in the real world. If your posts are not replied to right away it is no reflection on you or your efforts. We are just in a slow spot right now. And it will pass. It always does. Please stay.

Let me first begin by expressing my concern for your mother's health. Having been almost the sole caregiver for my mother in her two final years, I can truly relate to your real world. I genuinely hope her health issues are only relatively minor and life can resume again at a more normal pace.

I also, want to thank you for taking your valuable time out responding to my momentary frustration over our forum. You have much more perspective than I do over the ebb and flow of postings and new threads.

I wouldn't be expressing my concerns now were it not something I have relunctantly observed for some time. As indicated in my earlier post, I haven't made my final decision yet and I really hope this situation with the forum can be salvaged soon. Day after day I go to the "New Posts" hoping to find some interesting post to respond, only to find postings and new threads in short supply. As recently as one month ago, I was in a state of utter euphoria finding my responding to the forum challenging, fulfilling, and above all FUN. I now yearn for the good old days a month ago!

Wow! Jon that was quite a lot to let off your chest. I like to bicker with you and tell you exactly what I think, so I will. Then Tampa can post, and say we sound married, blah, blah, blah.

I have noticed the disappearance of some key players lately, but I completely disagree that it has anything to do with being afraid to be mean, or offend people.

I may be wrong, but I believe some of the younger guys, you included, have acquired significant others. That takes time away from the forum, as it should.

This is also a busy time of year. I spent today doing Halloween things, with my son, so I missed all this excitement. A lot of people seem to be dealing with "real" situations, and that takes so much of your energy, it is hard to sit and type and be creative.

On the flipside of things, I have noticed the return of some longtime posters. Aquarius/Rifle has posted several times this week, as well as my dear friend Rayvq. Tampa is back from vacation, and getting into the swing of things.

The scenes lately have not been bad, but not anything to gush or fight over either. We can only debate the virtues of Braden, Leon, and Tyler so much. We need some creative people to come up with some fun threads like "bad jokes," and some thought provoking threads like "BP." There has to be some sex question out there that we have not asked yet, that would be a thread in the making.

Instead of people taking their gloves off, I would rather see them putting their thinking caps on.

Thanks for your replies and I send my bestest wishes to your mother Tampa. Cumrag, I must admit that half of the time I don't have the time to read all your posts. When I read I like to digest what I'm reading but to do that with some of your excellent posts would make me late for work - so tend to briefly skip over them - no offence xx. However, many members do have the time so keep posting unless you're also seeing - like I appear to be - the forum's demise.

Miss K - Not sure about me or others finding a "b/f" or a g/f has anything to do with the lack of people being seeing as "active" members on the initial message board page. It would certainly be a hellova coincidence if Venus was to send simultaneous love dust on all the young Broke Straight Boys forumits all over the world. lol. Incidentally, mine is lust and not love.

Cumrag - I don't think Broke Straight Boys mgmt want to close the forum as this forum is now the only forum they have active - they've already closed down the BCB forum but that was due to lack of use. I think closing down this forum would be akin to commercial suicide as to a lot of people this forum is an outlet to speak about things they would normally get to do in public, and making acquaintances at the same time.

Ms. K, I agree with you totally. I was thinking as I read the original post in this thread, that a lot of posters are either educators, in school, or have children in school. It's a busy time of year.

I never gave it any thought, but yes, there are a lot of regular posters going through something or another right now which consumes their time. I know that I am going through some EXTENSIVE dental work for the next several weeks which will not only take up my time, but will also seriously curtail my desire to be witty and eloquent.

None of us want to see the forum die, especially management. It will survive (if you didn't just think about Gloria Gaynor, you're not gay).

Well I think many of you have covered many of the issues that have caused things to slow down over the last few weeks. I want to express my thanks for the kind words of support for my mother. She is definitely not in a life threatening situation. But she has been sick for the last several weeks. Hopefully she'll be better soon.

The reason things are slow right now is a culmination of many factors. Not any one particular thing. Many of us are distracted with things going on in the real world. So we have less time or inclination to as Carking says, "be witty and eloquent".

The forum will not be shutting down anytime soon, I'm sure. lol Someone (maybe even a newbie) will come up with a great idea for a thread and it will get people talking. So don't fret it too much. I know it's frustrating when you long for some thought provoking conversation and it's in short supply. But things will pick up.

I think that much of the lack of activity might have something to do with the lag time from shooting the scenes and posting them. If someone has a good suggestion for improving the scenes, It would take a year before any change would happen. So the watchers just say, "What the fuck!" and do nothing. For example, it irritates me when David says to the models at the end of a scene, "Thanks for dropping by!" as if they just casually, without planning, dropped by and had sex. Yeah right! Anyway, if David decided I was right and decided to change, He'd have to use up six to eight months of scenes, then create more without the line, and have them work their way through post-production. Who wants to wait that long to see change? It's all really up to David's instincts. And that isn't a bad thing. It's what has made the site successful.

This subject was brought up a while back too. However I do not believe the purpose of the forum is for us to suggest changes that David and Mark will necessarily implement. I believe it is here for us, the fans of the site to comment on what we like and don't like, but management never said that they would implement changes based on our suggestions.

They actually have done that from time to time, but it is not the expressed reason for the forum existing, and I don't comment here expecting David or Mark to react to my feelings. To me it is a place to exchange thoughts and ideas with other member's.

Jon. This is NOT the governor talking. This is the Republican candidate who won the primary on the "tea party" line. (Tea party refers back to when the colonies revolted against the British, by the way). The current governor Patterson, and the Democratic candidate who is way ahead in the polls Cuomo, are both solidly in favor of gay rights and gay marriage.

New York State includes New York City, which is obviously very pro gay rights, as well as upstate New York, which is geographically and politically very different. New York City is very gay friendly, (despite bigots and homophobes as the Bronx gang who tortured their perceived gay prospective members). But if you want to visit our city, it is mostly a great place to be openly gay.
