Why, oh why am I still here?

I chose to post this here rather than on the other side since it is more of a personal nature.

To be honest I have not watched a scene that has been put out in a few months. What lured me here in the beginning has vanished. Yet, I hang on.

I am retired and live off Social Security. My subscription here is automatically deducted from my account every month. I continue to pay for porn I really don't watch anymore. I ask again, "Why am I still here?

I have seriously thought of ending my subscription, but I feared I would lose contact with the friends I have made and also those who post and share their thoughts and life experiences.

Please help me answer that question, "Why am I still here?"

Hey louis, This is a great topic. Trying to stay in touch with your friends on here is great louis. Friends help us stay grounded and stay right with the world...the good friends do anyway. Engaging with others that share their thoughts and life experiences also help us to grow as individuals that's why we seek friendships and try to meet new people. In the long run it either enriches our lives and makes us think or it makes us run the other way. I hope that helps. Please stick around.

There have been a few others in the past who have post similiar musings and I will tell you the same thing I told them. To wit:


No one is competent to answer that question other than yourself. I'm sure as an adult of a certain age, you have had to make many much more difficult decisions that this one. As with any expenditure of disposable income the ultimate question is "Am I getting the requisite amount of benefit for the money I'm spending?". And since none of us know nor should we know the details of your financial situation, only you can provide the requisite analysis and answer. And in the cosmic reality of your life, I would presume that porn is pretty low on the totem pole. It's not rocket science, louis. Just get a pad, make a list of the pros and cons and judge that against the financials, and make your decision and answer your own question.

Stowe certainly did fully answer your question Louis, but speaking for myself, although I rarely enjoy the current models or porn, I certainly get more than my monies worth from the forum and knowing that the archives are available to me at any time for a fix of Tyler Evans Tank Shane, Mike Robbins, Logan, (or heaven forbid I mention "the model that I dare not speak his name" - Jimmy Johnson ) or the scores of other hot models and great scenes from the days when the porn here totally "floated my boat" and satisfied my sexual needs. But obviously Louis, your decision is totally your own. I hope you stay, but to quote a great philosopher from San Francisco, "That's just me". lol

Some of us go through the same dilemma in here. Not the least of which is because of our finances. While I do not feel obliged or eager to watch or comment on necessarily every single new video that comes out...it comes down to that I am here for the forum, first and foremost. The porn is just the great added bonus. In addition, no matter how commercial, formulaic or openly gay the site or model pool becomes...we still get to know the models as real people. That's quite unique compared to many other sites out there.

In this internet age of cell phones that are handheld computers and monitors, and with free social media sites at every turn, we can't put that genie back in the bottle and return to the "good old days" of 2007 to perhaps 2010. We have enumerated many of the challenges facing the porn industry in present day on other threads. So I won't repeat here what is indeed a very long list. As much as we might react with emotion and be tempted at times to cast "blame" on the staff for changes we longtime members don't care for...in our heart of hearts we are smart enough to know that they are merely reacting, responding and adapting to the new realities of the industry. While this may sound strange to some newer members, I also feel a loyalty to the staff of the site who do so much to try to keep us entertained and connected.

Over the past few months when I couldn't keep up with so many of you in here, I missed you all greatly. It was yet another reminder to me that I could catch up with the videos and models that intrigued me the most at a more convenient time later. But I missed the daily accessibility of so many friends and potential new friends in here. I guess you see some of my own thought processes here. As for me Louis, I selfishly hope that you'll stay. But I certainly understand that finances and cost/benefit analyses are a private and individual matter.

Nowadays if you go out for a fun night Two or three drinks cost as much as your subscription. So if we are happy or not sometimes with the porn. I think it is worth the money. And then there are all of us...

While I don't have an answer for you Louis, I can appreciate your having started this thread. When I first started participating in the forum discussions, I once described it as sort of a "Porn site Facebook". In addition to providing porn scenes and bonus sites, I'd never experienced the features of social media on any of the sites I'd visited up until then. Since I personally come to the site for the porn (enjoying what I like and knowing there's always something to look forward to) I enjoy reading, and participating in the discussions on the forum as well! There are frustrations that I experience from time to time just like everything else in life but, I too am still here?

It has been said before that some members enjoy the forum more than the scenes, and that's okay! If you are happy with that, be happy with that. If you're no longer happy with that.......then you and only you can decide what is the best course of action I do know one thing for sure though,....the friends you've made and the connections you've made....if important, they won't be lost ......

We never know if suddenly some wonderfully hot new model will show up, or an old familiar face and the same sense of the unknown can happen here in forum-land as well. Excellent point, young man!

Its 99% the same here. I took a week or so off. Today is my first day back. I caught up with the videos and will go to HSBoys next. not going to go back to forums that are not on the home page. I saw the new guys and liked them but its the same old stuff and with the scenes with the twin same ole same ole.I dont plan to quit here but I wont be on as much.

I then went to the Broke Straight Boys sign-up page only to discover that if I signed up today, I would be paying $10.00/mo LESS than I have been paying for the last two years.

Shall I discontinue of current subscription and then sign-up again or should I contact support here?

Here are my ... I too live on a fixed income and most months am down to the scrapings and waiting for the 3rd. This past month was my 50th birthday and apparently I'm difficult to buy for, therefore I had a slight influx of cash. Enough so that I decided to take the plunge and subscribe to the four sites I was most interested in, decide if I liked the experience of membership and choose one, maybe two and not renew the others.
This was the first. Second is a studio independently owned by a 'guy' who dresses in gym clothes. Third is a small operation owned by a pair of boyfriends/cam models. And fourth is the studio leading the field in Grabby nominations this year.

I've decided to renew two. Before I tell you which I chose and why I did/didn't; let me just say this...subscribing is a huge thing for me, as I can see virtually any scene made and usually within 24 hours of release. It just takes patience and a willingness to troll the internet. So, that being said....

1. I'm renewing Broke Straight Boys, largely because I like the interaction here in the forums. Nobody has made me feel unwelcome because I happen to be , quite the opposite and that's refreshing.
2. I'm not renewing the second option, the server quality sucks.
3. I'm not renewing the third option simply because they lack content. What they have for content is largely well made, but in the 3 weeks since I signed on I've seen everything that interests me. And if I want to see the boyfriends I can go watch them for free most nights on a cam site.
4. I am renewing the fourth option, it is the one I've wanted to join since I first found it, I love the models, I love the scenes and I don't mind paying for instant access.

So while I can't tell you why you should stay, I can tell you how I justify it monetarily. I will go read People magazine at the library, that savings alone will cover the cost of my Broke Straight Boys subscription. I usually buy 2 paperbacks per week, I will give up 1 paperback a week and that covers the other subscription. The 2 go under entertainment, I'm out no more money than I was and I'm a happy girl.

I just cancelled my subscription. My current one is still good until May 3rd. After that, we'll see if I come back, but I will still be around for a little while.

P.S. This month I also have to renew my Notary Public commission which will be a big chunk of money. That to me was more important.
