Broke Straight Boys is becoming increasingly annoying!

I have never bought into these "back" stories of the models, most of them are ridiculously far fetched, and a good many of the guys are pretty poor actors.

But now we have the ludicrous situation whereby management post a "reality" vid of their new "supermodel" Lucas at the beginning of the week, where he states he is an escort and is bisexual, and at the end of the week they post a shoot of him with Blake, and he is having to adopt the fake persona of the poor little farm boy who is 110% straight and hates gay sex!

Having watched the Lucas interviews, he comes across as an intelligent, level headed, all round nice guy, with a pleasing personality, but in the main shoots you have him behaving like a dick! If he is so important to Broke Straight Boys, and one gets the feeling that he is, judging by the amount of airplay you are giving him, then I suggest you rethink your strategy, because you really aren't doing the lad any favours!!

In my opinion, you have got this whole business of background and main shoots wrong!

You can't have "fake personality" shoots sitting alongside real life reality vids, it just does not work, the whole scenario is non sensical.

These guys are not actors, as lovely as they are, they are just ordinary lads who happen to have sex for money in front of a camera! They do not have the talent or expertise to pull off the ridiculous characterisations that you insist on giving them!

If you spent as much time and effort in matching the guys correctly, wherby there may just be a little chemistry between them, then Broke Straight Boys would be much the better for it!

It strikes me that Lucas is as dumb as a bucket of kiwi hair. Not to mention, a very dreadful actor

Dear Kelly,

I share your views.

I've found the main persona to be insulting to both partners
and viewers, and the BTS persona to be that of a gas-bag
know-it-all. (Yes, I am not pleased here.)

The pairings, it becomes increasingly obvious, are key to the
success of scenes. Personally, I couldn't watch all of the recent
Blake video because of his partner.

On the other hand, I have personal experience of how very
responsive the Broke Straight Boys management can be to us Forumites,
so I would encourage patience, Kelly. One is justified in
being hopeful that the present situation will improve in some
way, shape or form.

Yes Jake, they have managed Lucas dreadfully and because of this Lucas is being made out to be some monster. Lucas has even apologised for his behaviour in these early films and has promised to lose that dont give a fuck and phobic attitude - if this would happen then maybe he would appear more akin to the Lucas in the BTS. Members posting on the Lucas/Blake thread seem to have forgotten that.

The truth is that you are both make good points here. Lucas meant well in these scenes by play acting so straight. He thought he was giving the viewers what they wanted. He didn't realize how fake and annoying his antics would come across to more perceptive viewers. He an 18 y/o guy who made a mistake in judgment here. I dare say when all of us were 18 that we all did and said some things that would really embarrass us now with the benefit of more years and wisdom.

Right, Tampa, I agree with you in that Lucas made a HUGE mistake with his self-destructing, possible career ending "acting". My question is, where was Clay when all of this was happening? Is HE not the director anymore? This forum has been told over and over what a great man Clay is, and I don't doubt that for one minute, and how he takes the young models under his wing, teaching them the ins and outs of the business and preventing them from making mistakes like this which could jeopardize their future in the business. On this latter point, he dropped the ball big time with Lucas. And that is not fair to put Lucas in the position he is in.

Clay did the same thing with Spencer Todd and finally was able to bring him back for a few scenes. Spencer came back and shot some good scenes for a short time, but never could shake off that ONE lousy scene with Jason. In my opinion Clay FAILED Spencer Todd, and now he has FAILED Lucas. The first time could possibly be chalked up to being a learning curve; the second is just pure BAD DIRECTING with not an ounce of learning from past mistakes. And who suffers here. First and foremost, Lucas, and then the paying members. Seems like everybody suffers EXCEPT Clay.

What I find interesting here is really how much the viewership of Broke Straight Boys seems to have changed. If you go back to the original Broke Straight Boys episodes - not Broke Straight Boys 2.0 (though many of those would qualify as well) - but the first episodes of Broke Straight Boys when it had only just started - you'll find quite a few episodes with guys acting much more straight and 'homophobic' than Lucas is here. Of course, at that point, there was no BTS footage and the message board hadn't been created yet, so there was no complaining about it and, in fact, there was no real knowledge of how these guys behaved off camera. Many of us assumed that these guys were gay/bi guys acting (and often over-acting), but we didn't really know for sure.

The fact is, even though some do not share this view, that the basic premise of this site is enticing straight boys to have gay sex for cash. For many of us, it's part of the fantasy. Hence the name of the site. The guys at Broke Straight Boys know it and that's why the models are asked to act straighter than they actually may be. However, it seems like many of the viewers (the newer ones especially) take exception to this. While I certainly respect the fact that it may not be your cup of tea, I would ask that you recognize that, for many of us, it is. I would also ask that you don't bash the models for doing what's been asked of them.

If you're looking for an academy award winning performance, I daresay that you're looking in the wrong place. Most of these guys are fresh out of high school. If you see a performance that doesn't work for you, accept it and move on. There are quite a few models on the site that don't do it for me at all. When they come on, I watch something else. Broke Straight Boys is updated three times a week, so I can easily check out some of the bonus sites while I wait a few days for someone I do like to come on.

At the end of the day, Broke Straight Boys has enough models to suit a wide variety of tastes. I totally get that many may be into something totally different than me. But I still like the original premise of the site and I don't think it's fair for others to rage on and on when a new model tries his best to provide that - no matter how successful or unsuccessful you think it may have been.

I could not have said it better myself Tampa. Thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully folks will be a little more charitable to Lucas.

I, for on, am certainly not bashing the models!

They are inexperienced kids at the end of the day, who do as they are told.

My beef here is with Broke Straight Boys management, who seem to get things wrong time and time again.

As I said in my original post, the problem lies with having BTS vids and main shoots together on the one site, that completely contradict each other!

I couldn't care less about the "fantasy element and back stories", for me they don't work, never have and never will! I do enoy the insightful BTS vids though!

Btw, I may be new to the forums, but certainly not to the site!

The Behind the Scenes videos and the porn video's are made by different directors. Maybe these two directors should communicate more, and work together.

I couldn't agree more with your comments here Buckeye!

He may be the models Favourite Uncle type, but as a director he can be bloody awful! As effective as a chocolate fire guard! He has failed many a model since he arrived at Broke Straight Boys, and then sits back and lets the lads take the flack!

At the moment, as per usual, it is poor Lucas who is doing all the groveling and apologising, and he shouldn't have to! Even if the hick town homophobic farm lad is his own creation, then Clay being "an experienced director" should have vetoed it, having seen from past shoots how this type of behaviour riles the membership! But if you actually listen carefully, Clay in a very subtle way actively encourages the behaviour.

Clay never learns from his mistakes, but gets away with it over and over again, AND carries on regardles!

Maybe we should be looking for BSB4, without any involvement from Clay!!

I do not blame clay or Broke Straight Boys for my short comings in the acting department. I made a mistake by over-acting and not being myself and I take full responsibility for it. If and when I return to shoot I plan to amend that mistake and give you the real me!

You are new and inexperienced!

Clay is not!

He should have stepped in and told you where you were going wrong!

He is the director, and is there to shape a scene and coax a performance from you! That is the job of the director! So don't take all the blame on your shoulders!

I completely agree with you. The Behind the Scenes is new for us and like anything new it comes with growing pains. We encourage our models to be truthful in what they say and we have found when we brought out the BTS footage that the guys aren't always doing that. We are working on that however. We have two completely different teams that work on the update videos and the BTS videos. We are now working together to encourage the model to tell their truth in both updates and BTS. This will become more consistent.

I couldn't have said it any better. I'm catching up on some older videos (with models like Diesal, Shane, Jason...) and I gotta say that the scenes were much better directed in the sense where you could actually feel that the models were put at ease by the director. I love most of the pre-scenes banter between the models and the director which seemed to last longer than the most recent ones. I don't care much about the money related banter but I do love the other stuff!
I loved seeing how relaxed he made the guys feel and the way the guys would even feel free to take the initiative to fuck the way they wanted to. There was so much more communication going on. Not only between the director and the guys but also amongst the models themselves, too. There was a scene where I was literally laughing out loud one minute and horny as hell the next!!
Once again, COMMUNICATION IS KEY and it feels like somewhere along the way, the director forgot about that. I'm not saying that to be mean as I don't really know the directors from either the previous videos and the new ones. All I know is what I see and what I see is people like Jason and Blake who communicate with their partners whoever he may be and those who don't. I won't name names as all of you have some names in mind, anyways.

I do not blame clay or Broke Straight Boys for my short comings in the acting department. I made a mistake by over-acting and not being myself and I take full responsibility for it. If and when I return to shoot I plan to amend that mistake and give you the real me!

I will point out again one thing, which is that I had purposedly avoided your videos after what I had read some of the controversy on your performances and behaviour in those scenes.
I chose, instead, to watch your BTS which I appreciated. I, then decided to give you a chance to prove yourself in your future performances.
Unfortunately, even though, you warned us about the overacting in your already filmed scenes, I just could not get past the way you 'acted' and treated Blake in that scene. I'm sorry but being a beginner does not excuse your behaviour.
But, I also blame the director/management for letting you 'act' this way. They should have told you right away not to overact or anything negative like that. Obviously, they failed you on that aspect.

The Behind the Scenes videos and the porn video's are made by different directors. Maybe these two directors should communicate more, and work together.

I totally agree! Once again, it goes back to my main issue which is the lack of communication between the directors, the models..

You are new and inexperienced!

Clay is not!

He should have stepped in and told you where you were going wrong!

He is the director, and is there to shape a scene and coax a performance from you! That is the job of the director! So don't take all the blame on your shoulders!

I do think he's right to take some of the blame on his shoulders although like you said the director should have definitely have done something about that. So, they are to blame too.

I'm only stating my opinions here which, of course, are not going to please everyone which I totally get. I do believe, however, that we are all entitled to our opinions.

Too damn late! I am sick of watching your dick-head character in updates. You already had a chance. I won't waste my time watching ANYTHING that you are in again! And if this is the direction that Broke Straight Boys is going, I want my money back!

Sha, since you already directed porn, why don't you help out or even direct scenes in the future? I know you said in your interview that you don't watch the scenes because of how close you are to the models. But don't you think that maybe that might be a great reason for you to do it?

i think the key is communications!

Seems like we're on the same wavelength on that one!!

I am getting tired of waiting for something better. This site is not cheap, and I have better places to spend my time and money. AS of late, the models suck, the director sucks big time, and this whole Broke Straight Boys thing is quickly going down the tubes. What a shame, this was such a good site!
