Two Schools of Thought on what Broke Straight Boys should be

This thread reminds me of a joke I first heard in high school:

A hunter sees a bear down in the valley. He aims, shoots and runs to the bottom of the valley and can't find the bear. Suddenly he feels a tap on the shoulder and the huge bear is standing there pissed off. The bear grabs the hunter, turns him around and violently fucks him in the ass.

The hunter returns to town and wants revenge and buys a bigger gun and takes it back to the same valley. He again sees the bear, aims shoots, runs down the valley. Again no bear. He feela a tap on the shoulder and the bear commences to butt fuck the hunter again.

Totally irate, the hunter buys a large elephant gun and proceeds back out to the same valley. He sees the bear, aims shoots BANG. This time the hunter is certain he bagged the bear and runs to the bottom of the valley only to find there is no bear. Tap, tap.

The bear standing behind the hunter with his paws on his hips says, "I'm beginning to think you're not in it for the hunt."

The point is when we start to see straight boys doing too much, viewers begin to get suspicious. I'm one of those who believe at least some of the models at Broke Straight Boys are legitimatly straight. But my gaydar sure does go on high alert for some and from the feedback here at the forum I know many members believe most, if not all Broke Straight Boys members are gay.

While it is plausible to have truely straight boys find out that gay sex can be fun, many viewers may find the whole scenario bogus when they see a supposed straight guy madly and passionately making out with another guy.

I know from several Broke Straight Boys episodes where David was surprised to see that a straight boy could bottom (Tyler for example), but not dare kiss another guy. I don't know, maybe it's a generational thing, but I know many who feel that sucking face is even more intimate than penetration sex.

I personally see dudes I really want to make out with, and equally hot guys where it just doesn't feel right. It's unexplainable.

I feel that it seems like now we're all in more agreement than we've ever been as a group before!

That was a great post Abe. All of it. You hit on all the points that many of us have brought up in this thread. As well as points that we have tried to make in the past.

I think that all of us are all on the same road for the most part, and in some ways we're even all travelling the same direction and speed. There have been times in the past where even though we were all driving on the same road together, some of us were heading Westbound (or Southbound? :001_tt2: ) hell bent for election, others were headed eastbound at a more leisurely pace, while yet others of us were merely stopped alongside the road enjoying the scenery.

I feel that it seems like now we're all in more agreement than we've ever been as a group before!

It seems like for the most part, we all prefer it when at least one of the guys in a scene is straight, or at least portrays and identifies with being straight and doesn't want to do gay stuff, at least when they're one of the new guys.

The majority of us seem to find scenes that involve two openly gay (or bi) guys very boring, no matter how hot the sex might be.

The majority of us tend to HATE scenes where there is no actual sex involved, no matter what. Even if the guys are totally hot, if they don't do anything more than jack off side by side or even jack each other off, but don't do anything oral or any fucking, we ditch the scene and the scene seems to always get a really low rating NO MATTER WHAT (although granted, when we discuss the scene together here on the forum there will always be guys who liked the scene, I'm just going on general consensus and overall scene rating).

While most of us tolerate solo jack off scenes to introduce the new guy, if he does a jack off after that initial casting couch type scene, we get irate and upset, and feel cheated since we already had to endure a jack off scene with him once before.

So putting this all together, we all tend to like seeing sex in the scenes.

We tend to all prefer a majority of the guys being straight, or at least having one predominantly straight guy (it seems to be acceptable if one of the guys is gay in the scene, as long as they're not all gay, and there's full on sex).

We tend to tolerate the negotiating aspect of a scene, AS LONG AS it doesn't last very long and they get down to 'business' as quickly as possible and get naked, hard, and start hot sexual activity sooner rather than later. We know that a scene has enraged members for too much negotiation and talking once members start notating and quoting the exact minute and second a scene has "jumped the shark" for lack of a better word, and that scene crashes and burns due to the talking and negotiating dominating too much of the scene.

Have I left anything out? If not, let me move on to the gray areas (those areas where many of us seem to all drift off the main highway and start wandering down various sideroads, rest areas, and exit ramps altogether).

That is, when do we start wanting more kissing, less kissing, cum eating, no cum eating, bareback sex (oh wait, I don't think that actually became a topic or issue since I only know of one bareback scene that was done on Broke Straight Boys, but it is definitely something that I'm sure there are those of us who would love to see it happen), lovemaking, tenderness, socks, no socks, orgies, locker room and publix shower sex, etc.

With that being said, I think in order to be wildly successful, you have to do what satisfies the most members, for the most amount of time.

In otherwords, once you establish a foundation, build upon it until you have done some of everything to satisfy the most members.

What I *don't* think will work, is to try and pull off what sites like Straight College Men.com have failed at doing. That site was adamant about *ONLY* hiring straight guys to do not so straight things on camera. The guys truly were straight most of the time, and it showed. Those guys NEVER could get or maintain a satisfactory erection, in 100% of the scenes. They were visibly trying not to vomit, while sucking a guy's cock for the first time. They were wretching and heaving, and it to me was painful to watch. There was absolutely NO passion or lust involved, they obviously were doing it for money, and they obviously hated every second of it. They also had to be paid BIG bucks to do anything the least bit non straight sexually, and they also charged their members a premium membership fee and rarely (usually once a month or less) updated the site with new scenes. Those truly straight guys came at a very hefty cost, and would never actually enjoy what they were doing sexually and couldn't WAIT to get it over with, and you could tell they were not just acting.

But that site stayed true to its name, and never strayed from its original function, which was to have totally straight guys doing gay stuff for the first time.

That site has lost its member base steadily for the last several years, and as of the current date, it hasn't updated the site since mid October. And it was what could be considered a niche site, whose aim was to satisfy a very specific target audience (those who love watching truly straight guys have gay sex). But it didn't work, and if the site isn't out of business yet, it's probably on the way to going out of business.

I think if the new Broke Straight Boys wants to satisfy as many members as quickly as possible, it needs to make very sure that the sex is hot, often, and not force fed onto the guys doing the fucking and sucking. If they *won't* perform or do so grudgingly and can't get into it, or have to take half the scene working out the negotiating before anything hot or sexual starts happening, then the scene has jumped the shark. And by the way, most of us know that any real negotiating is done prior to any filming being done, at the time the release forms are signed and the performer signs the contract...whether it's a contract for one scene or an exclusive, the performers know what they'll be getting paid before they ever make their way over to the futon. This should be obvious in the first "new Broke Straight Boys" scene where Jimmy can be seen standing there waiting at the bridge for someone to say action at which time he starts casually walking towards the camera, which should have been edited out but was not.

I think it's great if the guys are straight, but with each scene become more willing to do more things (but not necessarily selling out either), it's a winning formula. If they go from being totally straight in their first action scene to backing onto the guy's cock and mpaling themselves with it and loving it in their second, their straightness is not very believable.

If they are in 20 action scenes and still refuse to kiss, show passion and/or refuse to at least try bottoming, they need to eventually be shown the door in my opinion.

But bottom line, at the end of the day, I think I speak for the vast majority of us when I say we want to see hot sex as often as possible, with the right mix of guys, in order to love the site and consider it one of our all time favorites with the hottest, and best scenes.

Abe

I agree with a lot of this... I like to see the sex scenes. I don't think it is easy for some guys who ar not sure of themselves sexually to just let go and embraces the passion of the moment though. So, I understand those awkward moments and I do appreciate them too. I like to se the guys progress and at least try different things. I thought Logan was awesome in that respect. He tried everything a at least once for the most part. I think I would liek to see or hear a post sene interview with the model too. Once they have jumped the fence and tried the various things, it would be nice to hear what they thought about their experiences as they progress too. That could be like a little behind the scenes kind of interview too. So, it could be watched separately by those who cared to watch it. I guess it would be more interesting to hear it from the model themself that they really enjoyed it more than they thought or the scene really freaked them out or whatever. More importantly it is always nice to hear them talk about if they have changed their minds about gays sex after their experience. It probably would not make for good porn but it would help fill in some blanks, LOL:thumbup:

What makes for a successful launch of Broke Straight Boys-2

Dear Jayman01,

I couldn't agree more. I too like to see the progression in most cases, with the exception being Leon who seemed to embody a lot of resentment at the end and his outward appearance showed it. Obviously, seeing the progression in models is why there were so many complaints with David's work because footage was often presented out of sequence. For those models with tattoos, I often used this as a gauge like the rings in a tree to determine the relative date of the actual shoot.

As far as awkward moments on Broke Straight Boys, I feel that adds to the reality of it all. When Logan agreed to do anal, the awkwardness he felt at the time was clearly written all over his beautiful face. I could not have wanted the scene to end any sooner without Logan's grimaces. I did not fault him at all, at least he was willing to try something new! That is more than what many models were willing to do.

I like your idea of post-scene interviews that were not a part of the actual episode. This would minimize complaints from those who want the interviewer to be muzzled from almost the get-go. I always appreciate getting to know a little more about the person whenever possible. Also, a little levity sometimes made it seem easier for guys to get in their comfort zone and that made it better for viewers as well. It may not make for good porn, but having the extra interview would make for more loyal followers (just like MikeR communicating directly through the forum with members increased the loyalty of his followers).

I think your ideas are well worth a second thought by management!

Sincerely,

Stimpy

That is so true.. it's so sad there are people here who are trying to turn the site back into what it was before.. an endless repeat of gay men (many of whom were unattractive) doing the same thing in endless loop. For those that want to see the gay men, you can look at the archive, there's 6 years of it... that's not what this site was supposed to be.

Hi qscott86,

I'm not sure who you are and you seem to be fairly new here to the forum. I've been sitting back reading your threads and posts and I clearly see your not a fan of what I have filmed in the past 6 years. I do understand I wasn't able to satisfy many of he Broke Straight Boys members past or present. Many loved my style, many liked my style and many hated my style. Since I have filmed Broke Straight Boys for the past 6 years, I have had so many comments and suggest thrown out to me over the years, nothing surprises me at the least. Everyone that watches porn has there likes and dislikes.

Personally, I like the new BSB2.0. Was it time for me to leave? Yes! After filming Broke Straight Boys for so long, it gets to a point that I have exhausted every possible scenario.

As for your comments of having ALL gay models, so far what I have seen of the new Broke Straight Boys and watch I see in future episodes, I can already tell you that some of the models that have already appeared on Broke Straight Boys are gay but still very hard to tell who. I can tell you that one model that is coming up on future episodes has filmed with our studio already doing College Boy Physicals & Boy Gusher and has been on every gay porn site that is out there. The other models I have reference already applied to my studio to do work. As for the others new Broke Straight Boys models, I believe they are straight and doing this for the first time.

As for the new Broke Straight Boys, like I said, I'm enjoying the new Broke Straight Boys I give Kudos to "the new voice". I think the boys straight or gay are hot looking! and I wish the new production team only the best!! I have NO hard feelings towards Broke Straight Boys and/or blumedia and the decision they made to no longer have me film Broke Straight Boys

It was time for a change!
Hugs! to everyone!!!

Hi Dan(dy!), Thanks for the validation of what many of us 'old timer' Broke Straight Boys fans have felt. It's nice to hear 'straight from the horse's mouth,' as you had the experience picking people, getting to know them, and also knew something about the models' past experiences. It always amazes me when people make judgements they trumpet as truth, based strictly on opinions. People like MikeYank, Stimpy, Tampa, Joey (and many others) had either PMs from you or prime time visiting you, the models and the filming set to get some 'insider' knowledge. I figure if I was shaking my head at some of the dialogue in the recent months, you must have been rolling your eyes ;p

Nice to see you around on the Forum, and even nicer to see you respond :tongue_smilie: And yes, even though I'll miss some of your models and your techniques/dialogue on Broke Straight Boys, the new version will be judged on its own. Unfortunately, it's sometimes hard to deal with change, and even harder not to make comparisons...

Tried out many other porn sites and they all seem so dull after Broke Straight Boys That's not because of the models, but because of the director. David is first director that made porn personal and interesting to watch. My greatest worry was if Broke Straight Boys could find a successor that could even come close to David, without imitating him too much.

Change of spice makes hungry. Next to Broke Straight Boys I'm also a member of David's new site straightrentboys.com and I welcome the change on both sites.

less talk about and display of money. MUCH less directing during the actual shoot. thanx, phil
While I consider BSB2 excellent so far, my major criticism of the new scenes is the talk and display of the money. We get it. This isn't a 2011 Porn Edition of "Let's Make A Deal". Our host is Matthew, not Monty.

And I do like the direction during the actual shoot, because that makes this site so different from most other boring porn video's. Please no zombies having sex. Keep it as personal as it gets.

What I like best is that there's no longer a large stock of video's. Comments and input from the members can be taken in consideration on short notice.

Dear David,

As Smiley says, you are very much a classs act. Thank you for being such a gentleman. I know that you are still around and that pleases me greatly. It is because of you that the site has prospered.

You built up a loyal following of viewers. Some of whom have been members consecutively for years. That's no small achievement in this industry when other sites have been going out of business. The current membership numbers are in no small part the result of all of your hard work over the years. Including of course the efforts of your staff and the support of all the great people in BluMedia as well. The new Broke Straight Boys will continue to ride on the coattails of your success in the near term. While both new members and ongoing members will still be enjoying your work for years to come.

With every change in our lives...even if on the face of it it appears to be a setback... new opportunities arise. I hope that you and Eddie find happiness and prosperity in whatever you do next. Both personally and professionally.

Many hugs to you both!

I like the variety and I agree that what gets me all hot may be a total bore to another person. Quelle suprise!! In my 57 years I have gotten around a fair amount and I have met more than a few straight guys who for the appropriate financial consideration would do just about anything. Of course some things required more financial consideration thn others. So for a straight guy to suck dick or take one up the ass is not an impossible thing regardless of what the self appointed experts here may say. In fact one young man I know was considering applying to Broke Straight Boys when he found out how much the supposed payments were. His attitude was that for the money they supposedly offered for bottoming he could take a little discomfort. Unfortunately he was picked up on a DUI failure to appear warrant and never completed the deal.

So far I have not been upset with the quality of the new models although I had my favorites among the old ones and would love to see more of them as well. Jaime may not be living in a box under the freeway but he could come by my house for a shower any time.

Since I have filmed Broke Straight Boys for the past 6.5 years, I have had so many comments and suggest thrown out to me over the years, nothing surprises me at the least. Everyone that watches porn has there likes and dislikes.

Personally, I like the new BSB2.0. Was it time for me to leave? Yes! After filming Broke Straight Boys for so long, it gets to a point that I have exhausted every possible scenario. I really can't comment on the new production team, but they too are going to run out of scenarios. Unless "Mathew" pulls a chicken out of his ass, or the models do something out of the ordinary, the new team will also get into that "same ole, same ole" category. How many times can we hear the same story over and over again about being "broke"? and being "straight".

As for the validity of the models being straight. I can only comment on what I have been seeing thus so far. Anyone who operates a porn site with the word "straight" in the name, is running the risk of having models being seen on other sites. I can't speak for the new production team, but I'm sure, just like how I hire models, we try to seek guys who are straight (first timers) or bi-sexual with very little gay experience. To make comments that ALL the models I filmed on Broke Straight Boys are all gay is not the truth. When I filmed each scene, in the start I would always disclose the persons sexuality. Did I mix gay boys with straight boys? Yes! I did it to change things up a bit because again, the scenario of Broke boys becomes tiring over the years. Did I film gay boys with gay boys? Yes! again I did it to break up the scenarios. Again I did this because after so many years of filming Broke Straight Boys I tried my best at different scenarios. As for the repeat models, I agree it was too much, but I had no control and I was just following orders. I was very clear and voiced my opinions that I didn't think bringing back the same models over & over again was a great idea.

The problem is that many of the Broke Straight Boys members watch a model on this site, they fall in love with a certain model and they want to see the same models over & over again. To prove this to you, all you have to do is read many of the past posts on this very forum. How many times have we have been requested to bring back "tyler" MsK wants to see "jimmy & diesal", How many of you have requested to see "Logan"? I still read posts that they want to see "taz". How many people are requesting to see Zakk? Or Jordan? and this is just a few requests. So not to piss off any particular, we did our best to bring back some of everyone's favorite models and it became "the same ole, same ole" syndrome. This same situation will happen to the new production team and they too will fall into the "same ole, same ole" syndrome.

As for your comments of having ALL gay models, so far what I have seen of the new Broke Straight Boys and watch I see in future episodes, I can already tell you that some of the models that have already appeared on Broke Straight Boys are gay. I can comfortably tell you in future episodes that I already see 4 models that are gay. The reason I can tell you this in confidence is that one model that is coming up on future episodes has filmed with our studio already doing College Boy Physicals & Boy Gusher and has been on every gay porn site that is out there. The other models I have reference already applied to my studio to do work. As for the others new Broke Straight Boys models, I believe they are straight and doing this for the first time.

Thanks for your response, David. I am actually a fan of your work over the past several years. But, I did feel that the last few years saw episodes that were predictable and there was really no storyline anymore (we're going to have sex and that's it). And to be honest, some of the choice of models and pairings were not what I would consider ideal, but I realize it wasn't just your decision. With that said, I think what you did with the site was great and you practically started it all. I will admit I think my commentary at times has been a bit beyond harsh, but it wasn't really directed at you. I am just tired of folks doing nothing but complaining. I think it's very commendable how positive you have been about the changes and seem to harbor no ill feelings. You seem like a great guy that we unfortunately never saw anything of on camera nor got to know you much at all. I wish you luck in whatever you do.

Scott
