So, I thought I'd share this clip with you guys. It's really sweet and to me it reflects how ideas are beginning to change in the US. Hopefully, there will be a day where this is the status quo, and homophobia is just a long-gone memory. So, to me, this is what hope looks like:

Don't forget the texan restaurant was not in any major city and if London is anything to go by, people in big cities tend to get on with their own lives and are less likely to intervene.

Excellent point Jon. Here in NYC too people often stay in their own world's unless there is a major incident like a blackout, the hurricane or like on 9/11 when it becomes like a small town with everyone helping each other. Otherwise we all live in our own cocoon's in the midst of the masses.

I was so pleased to see the reactions in Texas though. It was very enlightening and heart warming to see how attitudes have changed.

You can look up the other episodes on youtube. It's called What Would You Do, or WWYD. There's a whole bunch of videos, and many deal with gay issues, such as coming out in public or gay PDA. They're very interesting, but I felt this video was one of the most touching, since the reaction was instantaneous. There's an episode that dealt with a gay teen being bullied, and it took quite a while for someone to intervene. It was sad.

I'm sure if the people in NYC moved over to a small town then they would react the same. People in big cities tend not to get involved in other peoples business and as Mike said, tend to live in their own shells. It's not the people it's the busy environment and the higher pressure jobs, very akin to London.
