Is it really professional to diss a previous director ?
Wow....sometimes I feel like I can't talk on here at all without being criticized...regardless of what I say- so I just stay away from it all together. I do like to hear what people have to say so I can work to please as many members as possible. I wasn't "dissing" clay, just pointing out our completely different approaches to the scenes and the whole straight guy fantasy. I do NOT believe in making guys do things that are way outside their comfort zone in the beginning of their time here at Broke Straight Boys..but I try to push them to the edge of what comfort level they have going in. I don't believe in making every guy make out and kiss throughout their first couple scenes if they are totally opposed to it...many times they warm up to it on their own in their own time...it is way more authentic that way and usually comes across better. I do try to get each guy to push themselves every shoot a little further each time so it is a journey for them into new territory. Could I MAKE them kiss from beginning to end with each scene? Of course...but it doesn't lend itself to reality nor a realistic scene...different approaches, different styles and thought processes- that's all. I find I get much more out of models by respecting their individual limits and comfort zones down the road with this approach as well. EVERY single guy is different...EVERY single guy has different limits and comfort zones...EVERY single guy opens up to doing more at different paces....why not show that journey as realistically as possible- this way when you DO see it- you know they came around to the idea of doing it on their own. I'd like to be able to express my own opinions and explain things to all who are interested....give some insight to what it's actually like during the production of these scenes..I'd like to be able to speak freely with out walking on eggshells. I'm not here to offend anyone, only to help give that insight you rarely get to hear - it does get frustrating to be criticized with every word of mine up for critique- whether I choose to actively participate in the forums or just go away...ill be listening either way as I DO hope to please as many as possible

Johnny, I totally get what you are doing, and I believe that you understand that this is not just another gay porn site, where "doing it all" is the way to go. I appreciate that you are being true to Mark's original concept when he founded "Straight Boys Jerk Off", and later when he partnered with David for the original series of BSB1, where the concept's you are incorporating now are more true to the original way that things were done.

I can guarantee you Johnny, that 99.9% of us want for you to participate on the forums with us. You are the man working with the guys, producing the scenes, so it enhances it for us to have you interact with us. You do need a bit of a thick skin whenever you deal with the public, but over-all I'm sure even Jon would rather have you posting here, than having you silently reading our comments. I hope you do keep posting whenever you can, as most of us really care about this site, and your input is so appreciated.

Thank you...I wish you guys knew how much I do care. I'm VERY much a professional - or I wouldn't have lasted in this business as long as I have or won all the different awards I did. I treat EVERY model with respect and professionalism....if I model comes off as flat or a little stiff (no pun intended) I get the blame it seems...if you could only see how many HOURS I put into pushing these guys...giving them advice and things to enhance their performance...even giving them examples of noises they can make....the fact is- some are just quiet sexually in their personal lives, they aren't used to "porn" type performances much less with a guy. It's a lot on the new models and some come around quicker than others. And yes, you're correct...on College Dudes for example - there is plenty of passion from start to finish...every single scene as that is gay/bi porn and should most definitely be directed that way- as I do. I'm trying to keep these straight guys experience on Broke Straight Boys as realistic and natural as possible - as I believe it should be...every single guy is going to react differently to each situation...it's a tougher site to shoot as everyone has their own "straight guy fantasy" and how that fantasy should be...very hard to make everyone happy but I'm doing my best to keep it REAL. thanks so much for understanding...means a lot.

You do a great job. Period. But considering the diversity of your audience, you can not be too thin skinned. You will NEVER please everybody. But I know you know that!

Well hell, of course I understand, but like most girls, "give me an inch, and I'll want a foot;" life. Yes, your work is hard (difficult) but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna talk about it, disagree or agree with it. It just means that as long as we are having conversations about your work, there is communication. Shit, that felt good for me, how about you Johnny?

I don't think you could handle a foot...but maybe I'm wrong

Did I ever tell you about the time I dated a professional baseball player for Atlanta...he liked to always have his bat with him... I bet you'll take a closer look next time when you watch a player heading out to bat. Steve (not my husband) used to walk up, kissing it!:par50:

Oh shit...that's a scary thought - but I'd shoot it...ha ha ha ha

but I'd shoot it...ha ha ha ha

That's what he said! hahaha
Actually, he was quite kinky. He liked to fuck with his bat between his legs (no, the other bat). I just had to watch for splitters as I rode him. Damn, you are bringing back some fun memories....

Thank you Johnny for understanding how there is a difference between the concept of Broke Straight Boys as opposed to College Dudes, and vive la difference. On this site, I want to see straight guys reacting to the situation they are in as realistically as possible. Thanks so much for "getting it", Johnny!!!

We know you care Johnny. The quality of your work speaks to that many times over. We very much appreciate all the effort you put into the scenes. I respect very much the fact that you treat the models so well. The fact that you care about not pushing each model's boundaries too far or too quickly is just what I and many others would hope for. That may mean that certain scenes will not get the highest of ratings or the best reviews. So be it! It's more important that the models be allowed to evolve at their own pace. With a little prodding to keep advancing? Sure. But not coerced into doing things that are going to hurt their own self image, self esteem, or send them into some existential crisis. It's hardly worth it to make a model feel bad about himself for doing certain things, just to get bump in the ratings in 1 porn scene out of a thousand plus. We viewers get to watch the scenes and then go on about our lives. The models have to rely on their sense of self worth and self respect to carry them for the rest of their lives. So there's no comparison as to which one holds more importance. You and I (and many others) know you are doing the right thing.

You are a perfect fit for what has been Blu's apparent mission statement from the beginning. Primarily that any models whose services are used to bring money and success to the site, are treated respectfully and with dignity like any other member of the team. You provide free transportation, airfare, etc. You give them a very nice place to stay while they're filming. (No sleazy motels or ubiquitous drugs) You feed them very well. You carpool them around for recreation on their off time. It's just the complete antithesis of all the stereotypes out there about the porn industry. With your mindset about respecting the models as individuals and treating them well on the set, I do see you as a perfect fit here. :)

Thank you also Johnny for not blurring the lines completely between the two different sites. Broke Straight Boys is a straight fetish/fantasy/reality site. (Even if some models really are gay. haha) I don't mind at all that you might push the envelop into trying some soft-core kink, as long of course as you keep the reality site feel alive. Some new ideas will be popular and others will not. That's just the nature of the business. Hit and miss, trial and error. Rather than a mainstream gay porn formula like College Dudes, Broke Straight Boys does have its own amateur reality vibe where we get to see the sexual progression of amateur models. As long as we keep that going, then I for one am a happy camper. haha I also love how well you get the importance to the audience here of introducing the models to us as real people...and not just performers for our amusement.

It should be needless to say, but I DO hope you'll keep posting and sharing with us as you see fit.

Thanks again Johnny for all you do. :)

I appreciate the word "REAL" in many aspects related to this site and it's models. (I must also include the guys behind it all as well) In as much as I don't always enjoy seeing the models in real discomfort (especially when bottoming) it is part of the Reality of what I am viewing. I enjoy when their efforts are real and their reactions, genuine. When a model speaks the real truth there's a good chance, they've got more credibility with me! JohnnyBlumedia, has been a REAL positive addition to this sites video and scene directorial improvements and I think my observations both on this site and College Dudes (not to mention other sites....) qualifies me to make a real statement like this!

Thank you so so much for the kind words...I'd like to think I am going in the right direction and doing things the right way. If you don't see a model kiss for example...it's because they were REALLY against doing it- so I push for a little kissing or some neck kissing -whatever I can get -then with each scene try to up the ante each time...it's NOT because I don't direct the scene correctly, I just don't MAKE them do things in a cruel and disrespectful manner- or you would see rimming on EVERY SCENE!! Ha ha...seriously! You are about to see Zeno Kostas bottom for the very first time in his flip scene with TATE - his reaction and mannerisms were pretty extreme...as he is a very sexually intense performer -rest assured that he chose to do that and chose to continue going as it went on...I would have cut at any second HE wanted to...afterwards he said he was fine- completely...just has very animated and strong reactions to any stimuli. Thanks again...I know I won't always please everyone and there are never a shortage of "armchair directors" out there that think they could have done something better - I welcome them to get up and try. Thanks again

I'm going to comment on some of your post and carry it over to Zeno Kostas's thread instead. This thread is already going way off topic. lol

I suppose I am among the "fortunate" fans or viewers who's had many of my desires/pleasures from watching Broke Straight Boys porn, realized and played out in the scenes as of late. I am sure, much of it comes through the "directing" the models are getting, the "comfort" level of the models, the obvious good mentoring, guidance, and dare I say "safe" feeling the models must develop, working with the folks they do. I haven't asked for a lot, but what I have expressed over time as "things that I would enjoy" during my viewing pleasure, have certainly come to fruition! Thanks to Johnny Robins, I am confident it will just keep getting better and better going forward:thumbup:

Hello Pastol2. This is listed as your first post, but your screen name looks familiar, so perhaps you've been here before but choose a new but similar name. I have not yet watched this scene, but I do have two comments based on your post.

First, the new cameraman/director/producer is JohnnyBluMedia, and when he first appeared, replacing Clay, he received many similar comments, until we got to know him and he is pretty much universally appreciated by the members of the forum. He also posts here on the forum, so perhaps he will address your comments.

Second, the whole issue of calling a model "too gay", and "insulting" the mostly gay membership here is an issue going back to the earliest days of this site and the forum. This is a niche gay porn site, where the whole emphasis is on getting straight guys to do stuff that they normally wouldn't do for money, and my opinion is that we should take any comments by the director, or the models in this vein with a grain of salt. I consider this a fantasy site, and while some of us want the models to totally embrace the gay sex, others, (such as myself), like the hesitance and the resistance, and the dark humor of calling a straight boy "gay" as a teasing insult.

The truth is that any guy who will suck cock, get fucked and kiss a guy is not really 100% straight anyway, and I personally enjoy a bit of "guy talk" about being too gay. For me it is all a fantasy and a fetish, and I feel confident that no one involved with this site is truly homophobic in any way. I never take this kind of talk seriously, even when a model "overacts", such as the model Lucas, and another named Spencer, who said some harsh stuff about gays in their initial scenes. We are all adults, and perhaps this site is not meant for anyone who is overly sensitive to the issue of straight young guys and their attitudes about gay sex. It is all lighthearted, and as I said, if anyone is truly opposed to cock sucking or ass fucking, they have come to the wrong place. And I can assure you that Johnny the cameraman is no exception. Please don't take any comments in that regard too seriously. This is really a fun place to watch fantasies take place before our eyes.

Actually, I've been here for many many years, I was originally just pastol. I was gone for a few months and upon return had to alter my screen name to pastol2 as "pastol" was "not available." I was never a very active poster on the forums while here as pastol, but did read them regularly and still do. And yeah, i don't contribute at all since returning. I wish I had the time.

I'm aware of the issues surrounding Johnny. It is my humble opinion that he does a great job technically. Great direction and camera work. Some of the best in the business. He's OK with me, I'm not nearly as bothered by him as many of the posters are. But this time I thought it was just a bridge too far.

I know all about the fantasy played out here. I'm very familiar with all of the models here and see many of them on other Sites doing what they do. The issue is not unique to Broke Straight Boys, they just exploit it as their business model for our pleasure. And it is very well done. Helix Studios produced a great documentary titled "I'm a Porn Star" that addressed the issue among other topics. Very well done and entertaining too, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the response, It is nice to know one is at least getting someone's attention. And it is valuable discussion.
