I was never a fan of Denver Grand ..And when I attended the New York Pride event in 2012, I met Broke Straight Boys models, Blake, Jason and Denver. Jason and Blake were warm, charming and welcoming to me, while Denver lived up to my preconceived thoughts about him. He was aloof and conceited. I am no fan of Denver Grand in any way.

How you treat your fans is important.

Former Dodger manager Tommy Lasorda told this story to his Dodger teams every Spring training: A veteran star major league hitter came to bat against a 19 year old rookie. First pitch: fast ball near the hitter's head. Second pitch: fast ball at the hitter's head. Third pitch: fast ball at the hitter's head. The hitter charges the mound, both benches empty and massive ejections from the game follow. After the game, the vet turns into a walkway for both teams' locker rooms and runs into the rookie pitcher. The vet says to the kid: "I never met you before. Why did you throw at my head three pitches in a row?" The 19 year old replied: "We have met before. When I was 12 years old, I was your fan, asked for your autograph, and you told me to get lost kid!" So every Spring training, Losorda would conclude this story by instructing all the players on his team "never ever turn down a 12 year old who requests your autograph. He may grow up and throw at your head some day!" The rude treatment of you by Denver reminded me of that story (although you did not get the pleasure of throwing a baseball at his head!).

I'd like to apologize to Denver if I gave the impression that would not acknowledge or talk to me. I'm just saying that whereas Jason and Blake were totally charming and attentive towards me, Denver was aloof and bragged about his accomplishments and how much money he made. It was all about him. Perhaps it was the contrast between how sweet and engaging Blake and Jason were, asking me questions and even talking to my forum friend Ms. K on the phone, they totally made my day.

In comparison Denver came across as bored and disinterested. However he did sign my Broke Straight Boys towel that was personalized by Jason & Blake. In the lower right corner, you can see Denver wrote, "Haller at me!". lol

And I have to add that I spent the most time with Sha, who was also charming and attentive to me, answering all my questions in detail, including discussing the recent change in the filming crew, (they had switched from D&E and hired Clay as an in house producer). And Sha also answered my questions about Jimmy Johnson as he had spent so much time with him on the road at the events during Jimmy's exclusive contract year with Broke Straight Boys Sha spoke highly of Jimmy's character and I was happy to discover that he was a good a person in real life as I felt that he was on screen.

I'm very happy to hear that part. That Sha talked up one of your favorites to you. :)

Thanks for saying that Tampa. And I feel that Sha knew him better than anyone at Broke Straight Boys as Jimmy traveled all across the country with Sha who was responsible for all the models on those road trips. Spending that much time together, you get a sense of who a person is and he did speak highly of Jimmy and what a good father he was and how well the other models got along with him. If you remember when Jimmy used to post on the forum, his avatar was "I Love Rob Ryder", who was on many of the road trips representing College Dudes

Yes. The Jimmy Johnson/Rob Ryder bromance was very cute. :) My only regret (and probably Rob's too) was that it was never consummated on set. Rob certainly seemed up for the idea. Too bad they couldn't have done one on College Dudes together. Or if it had been done over here, Rob (and most of us I think) would probably have much preferred a hyped up JJ/Rob "love scene" event, over Rob being paired up with Kodi.

Clay had some weird personal agendas going on though that often times did not have the best interest and the most enjoyment of the paying audience as the highest of his priorities. That also applied to not giving much heed to what models might have preferred either. Even when what the models would have preferred would have also been in synch with what more of the audience wanted. Given a choice many times between what he wanted to do versus what he thought (or perhaps even knew ) most the audience would like more...he would go with what he wanted to do.

Do you guys remember when for most of that first year that so many of us were asking Mark and other staff if Clay was straight?

I assumed when he first arrived here at Broke Straight Boys that Clay was pretty much brand new to directing gay porn. Because I very much felt like for the first 6-8 months of him being here, that we members were training him. So we were constantly giving him advice on what he could improve on when he would (quite honestly) majorly screw things up in scenes...with some really bad decisions on choreography, horrible camera angles, sometimes abysmal audio quality, making the models say humiliating, degrading and demeaning things about themselves on camera, and so on. [That last bit, unbeknownst to us at the time, was actually a bit of a warning and a dark foreshadowing of the future.] God comfort the souls of the models he would later work with, or any earlier ones he did emotional harm to.

But when Clay first got here he acted like he was a total newbie to filming and directing gay porn. Many of us wondered if maybe his only prior directing or filming experience before Broke Straight Boys was in filming some straight porn. We also quite honestly wondered if it was a situation where he was actually straight himself, but needed the job. So we members were suffering through it, coddling him, giving him advice and (for the most part) trying to be gentle and polite about it.

You can tell a director is struggling to connect with a gay audience when many in said audience are privately and publicly wondering, and even outright asking Mark in the forum...if the director is straight. That's not a good sign! Let me tell ya. :001_unsure: haha

When Mark seemed to accidentally share with us after about a year it seemed, that Clay had been (and still was) the director over on College Dudes for years... I was absolutely floored. And pissed! I mean how was it that he was actually gay and a decent director over on a gay site like College Dudes, in position for a long time.... And then when he arrived over here he acted like he didn't know his a** (or the expectations of a gay audience) from a hole in the ground? It was mind boggling. Fortunately he did come around and get his act together and finally started acting like maybe he knew what he was doing. For all of his later improvement on the set though, his behavior off-set only got worse.

Sorry for the rant guys. I guess I got a little triggered for some reason. haha We can't change the past. :p

Thanks Br.

I didn't recognize the Broke Straight Boys models you posted either. I could probably figure it out with much research. But I was/am hoping somebody else might jump in who actually already knows.

I will reveal if no one answers in due time, should I forget in my advanced years please remind me. TY
