Reputation

give it at least a week or two. we critics are trying to understand it.
don' act so quickly, some of us are old and new things confuse us.
slowdown, webmonkey. chatter is not rejection.
let's talk about what it is and what it can be.

Don't throw away your old shoes before...

Lovelumps:smiley-love001: building, working her prill and o so new reputation, and now in one blow it's gone again! Dissipated into the eternal data fields.

Poor dear. Now you're stuck with your old reputation.

How cute are those shoes!!! You've done it again with another great pic!

I guess my "old" reputation will have to do. :001_unsure:

my ego had me wondering!
am i as loved in cyberspace as i think i am in the real world.
if not loved, just not thought of as a nutcase

At first blush, I don't like this feature. If some one approves or disapproves, agrees or disagrees with a post, then he or she should post that instead of hiding behind anonymity to affect somebody's "reputation". Although having said that, worrying about one's "reputation" on the forum of a web porn site really is not all that cosmic!

Tempest in a teapot! Mountain out of a mole hill! I don't really care if the feature stays or goes. Because with the exception of the friends I have made here, I don't really care what anyone else thinks of my posts; and I know my friends will give me the benefit of their views on my posts either directly on the forum or through a pm.

My first quote was on page 1 of this thread; and my second quote, the more appropriate one, on page 2. Here we are on page 8 still discussing this. I stand by my second quote now more than ever.

Webmonkey, another1 is right. You acted too fast. Many of us don't have the expertise on the computer and internet related things to understand these more complex (to us) features. Sometimes you have to speak in terms that luddites can understand.

And while you are busy lengthening the edit time, and creating this like/dislike function, how about increasing the image-using ceiling from 4 to a higher number. Often, the emoticons and other images can be useful in expressing oneself and 4 is not a very high number. Thanks.

I agree on both counts, Stowe. We need time to adjust, and we need more than 4 smilies.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I am trying to please. epic fail, at least given the comments. im turning it off now.

Don't feel bad. You didn't fail, you just tried something and it didn't work out as well as you'd hoped...life's like that. All the members know you have their best Broke Straight Boys interests at heart. Besides, you're still as hot as....

All I asked for was an explanation of how it worked, and how to read it, not for it to be turned off. But as it was never clearly explained to us, perhaps it is best being "turned off".

It is like the season on the television show Dallas where Bobby was killed at the beginning of the season, and the first episode of the following season, we found out that Bobby's dying was just a dream by his wofe Pam.

Perhaps I only dreamt that WebMonkey had installed a "reputation" button. :confused1:

i speak luddite. people think i'm a geek, but started hanging out with geeks, when i learned hearing them talk that techie stuff, i get well warm.
i was working on understanding exactly what i thought was occurring. understanding the situation being a good starting point. it easier to translate geek into luddite if you know what you are talking about.
anyhow, there is/was no reputation button.
can you tell me was it a dream?
now i am trying to understand things that don't exist!

Looks like a lot of members U turned after Webmonkey stated that he had failed and switched it off. What happened people, did you feel guilty ? I am not going to backtrack and state that I liked the feature when I do not - I think it's quite pointless and may put members, especially new ones, from posting their true view - in fear of getting negative reputation points.

I'm not stupid and I know how the system works - this is not what I'm griping about. However, I am just one vote on here and maybe that is what needs to happen. A VOTE

All we were saying is that the experiment ended prematurely. Some of us would have liked to take a closer look, before forming an opinion.

Now -to my shocking surprise - overnight we got upgraded from vBulletin version 3.7.3 to version 4.2.0. Are you not at least curious how this LIKE / DISLIKE system evolved?

I still don't like the colours but Mark said they're working on it.
