As I often say, there was a whole different vibe to Broke Straight Boys in those days, with a cast of recurring characters who we felt like we knew. It was more of a combo soap opera/porn site back then with twists and turns as guys changed and went from being considered hero's to villains at times too. Well, back in 2008 there weren't as many choices in social media. So called "Chat Rooms" (while not unheard of) were still not a very well-known resource. So the advent of the forum here was kind of a novelty for many people still getting their feet wet in owning their own PC's. There were a few social media sites out there. But many of them had not quite gotten their footing yet. For instance the now relic site Myspace was still considered fairly relevant at the time even as Facebook was on the march to displace it.

All this to say that for gay consumers in particular there were fewer places to freely and openly discuss gay sex or porn online other than the somewhat sleazier and more base "hookup/dating" sites out there. So the forum had a high level of active members who posted frequently and shared many fascinating topics of their own lives and experiences. We don't have the same amount of active posting members now like we used to. But that's also because there are so many other online avenues for gay people to congregate and communicate. And since most of these other places are not on paid porn sites, the can log in for free.

That said, I'm still very grateful for this site and this forum to both keep me entertained and to give us a place where we can comunicate with each other.

I agree Tampa and am grateful as well that the forum still is here as is Broke Straight Boys, as much as they have both changed over the years. But they are very comforting to me as a semblance of what once was, and what could be…………..

Well said, Tampa & fully agree with you. Back then I had a full active outdoors life, so did not have the time as I do now for the Forum, frankly my loss. also, unlike most I was deeply immersed in the net & computers.
