Pets!!!

Dear Ms Lovelumps,

So sorry to hear of your loss.
May your memories only grow fonder with time.

I've enjoyed reading your posts and stories.

A belated thank you for your kind reply to my first post.

Best regards,

Chris

Thank you, Chris. I appreciate your kind words:)

Laura

Laura,
I am so sorry to hear about the tremendous loss your family is suffering through. I have had to make that same decision a couple of times, so I know the anguish it caused you and your husband.
My prayers are with you, and I wish you and your children the best, through the coming days, as you all deal with the loss and move forward.

Thank you, Ms. K. The boys have taken this surprisingly well. I'm really proud of them. We will miss her, but I'm relieved she is no longer miserable. xoxoxoxo

Moving on....

Thank you all so much for your concern and thoughtfulness about the loss of my Macallan. I really appreciate all of you for your kind words. I feel bad, though, that I seem to have commandeered this thread.

SO, in an attempt to get things back on track, I would like to share with you about the newest addition to our family.

Our youngest has been asking for a snake for a couple of years now, and we finally indulged him in November for his 11th birthday. He chose a Corn Snake. Her name is Athena. When we got her she was about 14 inches long and about as big around as my pinkie finger. She eats 2 pinkies a week, which are defrosted and warmed up baby mice. Ick. However, she's pretty cool and has unusual coloring for a Corn Snake. She's really tickly, too. I am really surprised that I'm not more creeped out by this, but I do live in the land of boys, so I suppose it's adapt or fail epically here....

Athena is seems like the perfect pet. She should do well with all of the love your family will provide her. She already seems very friendly...

Dearest Laura and Jayman,

Glad to see you have made room for Athena. It seems she will make the perfect pet, not considering warming her food, but then snakes are such fussy eaters anyway.

What I want to know is where is her collar and tags and is she already trained to "wiggle" while on a leashso you can take Athena on her daily wiggle around the block, remembering to take that all important plastic bag in case of accidents? I believe in strict adherence with all leash laws, even for kids.

Sincerely,

Stimpy

I told my mother I wont be having children in this life, so she better be happy with her grand kitties...That's all she's getting from me!!

No collar or leash for Athena. As you can see, she's tiny enough to hitch a ride and go fairly unnoticed, aside from the tickling part. She does, however, need to travel with a poop bag since she's been known to leave a little gift on her journeys around the house.

She's managed to not attract the attention of Porter, but our cat Cosmo likes to perch on her Cage Kafig and watch her slither around. He's been banished from son #2's bedroom at night as a result.

She is a good guard snake, though, as she always peeks her head out of her hidey hole whenever she senses someone coming.

You have a beautiful family, Deidra! You are lucky, indeed. I know how upset you've been when the Captain and Peggy have wandered off for a day or two. They are your babies, and you do anything for them.

I hope Bessie had a wonderful birthday and enjoyed her bone!

Cats and dogs???

Hey Miss D,

What a family! Is that fair one dog and three cats? How do they all get on?

Undie

Well Bessie is a kind soul. She isn't agressive at all. The cats just come lay down right on her. They get on like peas and carrots. It's actually Captain Jack and Peggy Gordon that have the most brouhahas. Peg is a bit obsessive of the boy and she pines and stalks him. Auggie is the mum of the group. They all love each other, it's a lovely symbiosis they all have. And of coarse, Bess is so much bigger that there needs to be a 3 to 1 ratio. I can't imagine how they would all react if another dog came home...

Bessie just carried the bone around for like an hour and then gave up. It was her new monkey chicken toy that she loved. It has been next to her all night. She may be old but that girl likes her toys.

:001_tt2: Just like her mama

Lovelumps, your dog is amazing, the memories she has given you will lift your spirits always.

I don't even know where to begin about pets, there have been so many. When I was a kid, I had a hamster that slept on my pillow, then a dog that learned to pull the rope under my swing and would pull it back as far as it could, and sit down, so I was hung sieways in the air. As a teenager I had a cat, that would destroy anything that belonged to my "terrible" little sister.

Now I have a GIANT dog, that is the biggest chicken ever, an old dog that is so sweet, and a 16 year old cat.

We just found out that my son is VERY allergic to dogs, and a little allergic to cats. Thus begins a mandatory, but difficult process of finding new homes, saying good-bye, and cleaning away all evidence.

I totally feel for you, my friend. I love the way your little boy and giant dog relate to one another, and this has to be a terribly difficult thing for you to do, to separate them from each other. But your son is very fortunate to have such a wonderful mother, who will make the transition as seamless as possible. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that you've purchased a new larger fish tank, stocked with many more exotic beautiful fish, and perhaps even a new hamster or two, or another exotic creature or two that are non allergic, for his amusement and company.

With a loving and caring person as yourself to guide him, I'm confident that your son will be able to handle the loss of his dogs and cats, with minimal distress.

Oh, how terribly sad for you and your son:( I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope you are able to quickly find loving homes for your babies. TOY Ms. K... *hugs*

I'm so sorry for you Ms. Kianna. I love my pets more than words and I would hate to be in the position you are in. That is so sad. How is your son taking it?

My son is actually taking it better than I am. His dog has only been around a year, but I have had mine for 9 years. I am going to try to find her a good home, I think my ex may come back to Cali and get her.

I hope your ex does. She would be with family... What kind of dog is your puppy? You called him your giant....

We were told he was a chocolate lab, but as he grew, we realized that he was lab and something else. My vet guessed whimeriner. I have no idea how to spell it. He is 14 months old, 90lbs., and thinks he is tiny. My son rides him around the house.

From his face he reminds me of a Lab and a Mastiff which is a HUGE dog.... Kinda fits with the 90 pound thing....
