Actually, I think Scorpio hit the nail on the head. 2.0 is only just getting started. Comments have been made. Comments have been heard. Do we have to continue to beat the dead horse?
The episodes have already been filmed. There hasn't been enough time to implement the recommended changes. Continually bashing each episode isn't going to make them happen any faster. Let it go.
The fact is, members tend to fall into three general categories with regard to the changes:
1) Some people love 2.0 just the way it is.
2) Some people like 2.0, but have some reservations about the new content.
3) Some people love the old site and won't like the changes no matter what.
Of groups 2 and 3, people tend to fall into two other categories.
1) Those that have made suggestions for improvement and let it go.
2) Those that just like to bitch.
Now, if you fall into the first group, thank you. If you fall into the second group, we get it. You don't like 2.0. It will be noted for future reference. Please, either shut up and give them a chance to implement the suggestions or go find somewhere else to bitch. If you feel you have to leave, just do it already and let the rest of us wait in peace.

I agree with you. Sounds like a few folks have gone bonkers and made a mountain out of a mole hill. I have not noticed all that much change. You still have two young guys having sex on the futon. I don't understand what all the fuss is about.

I have some friends who are members of the site but they never comment here in the forum. So it's not hard to imagine that Forum member are a minority of the total membership.
But aren't ALL members allowed to vote on each episode?
So how does one explain the poor ratings of each episode? Do the few "bitchy" forumite votes outweigh the votes from the rest of the site? Or do non-forumites also not vote?
From what I'm reading here, at this point in time, I see no reason for me to stick around here. So when my monthy subscription runs out, I'm outta here.
If and when the situation here changes, I will consider joining the site again.

Change is never easy for most people... We have all gone through it at work and our home life. And it seems like nothing is ever going to settle down. Change and evolution is just part of the universe. These things are just tests of our initiation as well as the. See the below Universal Laws.

Broke Straight Boys provides something for all of our sexual appetites. As far as the new format goes, I think that they are getting a feel for what will and will not work on Broke Straight Boys in general. The producers have had some great ideas and story lines that they have tried to bring to life for us that have not been done on this site before. I give them a lot of credit there. Nothing ventured nothing gained... Many straight guys don't look like twinks and Abercrombee and Fitch models and most straight guys tend to hesitate or bulk at various aspects if not all aspects of homosexual sex. However; I think Rocko is kind of cute and he has a pretty genuine nature about him. He reminds me of some friends I have had occasional sex with growing up. And I kind of like the two guys that are coming up this evening strictly from a looks appeal perspective. If the sex does not turn me on particularly I try not to be critical. I realize it is not always going to be something that gets me all hot and bothered. I try to think before I write or post to the Forum as much as I can. I think that maybe some models or film producers may be reading or watching. I am not on here to hurt peoples feelings. If I see something I like I comment on it. If not I do my best to either avoid commenting on it or find a constructive way to say what I think or feel. Besides, we have access to a huge array of additional porn and the Forum if today's menu is not sexually appetizing enough.
Getting stuck in negative and critical thought pasterns only weakens us as people. GLBT folks have enough to endure in the real world; as Ms. Diedra posted earlier in the week... Back biting and criticism doesn't solve problems. It just creates more problems. The negativity generated can be very infectious if given enough time and the right circumstances. The Forum is like a safe haven or refuge for many Forumites and serves as a place for friendships to foster and grow. It provides a useful communication tool to engage others in like or not so like minded conversation. More over, I think it serves as a tool to remind us that regardless where we live many of us live through the same circumstances and situations. Our common bond is that we were all attracted to this site for what ever reason. Sometimes we need to focus on our similarities and less about our differences.
I do believe that sometimes people just need to vent. More times than not our frustration comes from not being in control of situations in our own lives in small ways. So, we sometimes feel a need to take control where we can to help build our self-esteem. In my opinion the new format is not what I am used to. However; It does have some interesting scenes so far. I thought it was pretty funny when the guys started trying to play let's make a deal with the camera man or whoever was bartering. The other day I saw my first foot job on film. That was too funny... It wasn't a huge turn on sexually but it really gave me the feeling that these guys were squeamish about gay sex. It reminded me of a few awkward moments approaching a straight man about sex the first time or two. Anyway, to conclude my point; It doesn't matter what brought you here only what you leave here with.
Some days I come here bummed out and leave with a smile. Sometimes I come here and find that someone needs a prayer or some emotional support. Some days I come here and I read all the negative comments and feel worse than when I came in. Most times I come in have a laugh or two, watch some interesting porn, and socialize with my friends that are like an extension of my family. At least for the moment I know I am safe and in a GLBT friendly environment and I can just be free. I ma not sure a price can be put on safety and freedom...

I have never had any problems with change, especially if those changes are needed.
I do, from time to time, question some changes because I have to ask "is it really necessary".
Change for change sake is not always a good thing.
Now in respect of Broke Straight Boys, I do not have a problem with having change away from BSB1, but I am having a problem with the change to BSB2.
I personally do not like the results.

Kevin, I'm sorry that you're leaving, as you've been an interesting and opinionated young voice that gives the forum a vitality and a spark. I obviously enjoy young people or I wouldn't be so into this site, and have particularly enjoyed reading the perspective of a younger member such as yourself and Jon and other's who either no longer post, or who have also left.

Yes, of course all members vote, but as I just said on another thread that I believe that the forumites have the greatest interest in the site and vote more regularly than the casual member whose primary interest in the site is to watch hot young straight guys have sex, jerk themselves off while watching, and log out after cumming. My belief is that the "silent majority" don't bother to vote.
Mark is running a business and I feel confident that the opinions of the few "bitchy" forumite votes don't outweigh the votes from the rest of the site. He owns a business and he makes his decisions based on profits. That is why someone owns a business. The number of stars given to a scene are not a true scientific rating. Mark is in business to satisfy customers.
If the site is no longer satisfying your needs, then it is appropriate for you to go. But I will miss you. I don't have to agree with someone 100% of the time to admire them. And you have been a breath of fresh air on the forum. Thank you for enhancing my enjoyment here since you began posting.

I would like to make it clear though that I never initiated any threads on politics here, I responded to other members opinionated opinions with my own opinionated opinions. lol
I live in a very liberal city and have basically grown up surrounded by people who despise what I have to say politically. And they, often times, have no qualms about telling me to my face that my views are not welcome. Their universe consists of head nodders. If you diverge from that, you're "opinionated."
However, as a fairly new member I did have a lot to say which probably rubbed some the wrong way since I was a newbie.
I do totally empathize with the site here. I can imagine how hard it is to see reactions to work put in that doesn't seem to please a significant portion of membership. But taking the comments from you Mike and scorpio, to their logical conclusion can only mean that this Forum is a farce and not an important channel for feedback to the site.
It is obvious that paying a $29.95 monthy subscription does not make one a company shareholder but we're not simply "nattering nabobs of negativism"* either. lol

As far as the value of the forum, if you owned a web site for profit, what would most influence you in the decision making process, a vocal minority who post their opinions or the forum, or the "silent majority", (another Nixon-Agnew term, by the way) who vote with their dollars? As a capitalist, I'm sure you understand this basic concept of business and economy. I do believe that Mark reads the forum and takes our opinions seriously, but if we are a small percentage of his market, we cannot expect everything that we ask for to happen.
I do hope that you keep posting here until the day your membership expires. I enjoy your posts whether I agree or disagree with you, and I defend your right to state your opinions here too. Keep on keeping on!!!

I have enjoyed all of the comments about the new Broke Straight Boys both good and bad. But at the end of the day they really don't matter. The owners of Broke Straight Boys have made a "corporate" decision and will see it through no matter what the forum subscribers say good or bad. They may take some advice here and there about how to tweak the production value, or the lighting or what model is paired with another, etc. The way things are going I will probably not be renewing my Broke Straight Boys membership next month and will move on to greener pastures so to speak, but all that glitters is not gold when it comes to porn sites and I'm sure all the forum members know that. I recently joined the Backroomfuckers site, where Diesal and a few other Broke Straight Boys boys have gone to play in a different type of video venue. Let me say it SUCKS. They have not added anything new to the main area in over a month. And the extra sites are adding old videos that have been out for years and advertising them as new. I will not be staying there when my membership is up that site definetly has not delivered on what it adverstised.

My personal observation is that there is a certain group of individuals who liked the previous Broke Straight Boys and do not like the new Broke Straight Boys This is not surprising. It will also not be surprising to see those people leave. This is what happens when something changes directions and embarks on a new path.
My first boss many years ago once told me that consistency was the key to success in any business. He ran a restaurant and he loved to comment that one could serve horseshit on burnt toast and there would be people who loved horseshit on burnt toast who would come and eat there regularly. What people wanted was consistency. No consistency, no market.
So Broke Straight Boys has changed directions. Are there people out there who will like the new format? I think so, much as there people who liked the old format. But some of the folks who liked the old format are not going to like the new one no matter what is done. They will leave and be replaced by new subscribers who do like the new format.
And life will go on as always.
