I agree with Mikeyank--and would like to take some of his opinions further. gay sex is not the taboo among younger men, gay or str8, that is was even just ten years ago.
I have posted about my views on labeling male sexuality before, and I think some of the difficulty in going out to prospect for models not being as effective as before is that the pool of young men who have not engaged in homoeroticism is dwindling. I have no proof or anything, but just from comments and discussions on other sites (not porn sites) regarding "my first time" stories and such and the over-all either positive responses or "so what?" responses, I get the definite impression some experience with male on male sex is much more common--openly common, as opposed to what most young men have ALWAYS experimented with but never made public thruout the past several generations (an aside, have run across several 'net discussions regarding same sex activities during WW II which was not seen as remarkable at all at the time--boys just being boys--sleeping and having sex on the decks of warships, etc. and should keep in mind until McCarthyism, post WW II, male on male sex wasn't considered parlor room discussion material, but also wasn't considered a big fricking deal either.)--so the pool of young men to be prospected are now more fully aware of just what such "acting" is worth or do not find the prospect of having that pivate part of their lives spread all oiver the 'net.
Or if they want to cash in, they do it themselves without the need for a studio. All it takes is a cellphone and an instagram account.
I also don't think these younger guys see their same-sex experiences as anything remarkable. Porn is all over the 'net, they have access to self-publish their experiences and/or just don't see it as something marketable. If a recruiter walked thru a mall today and approached young men, the majority of the responses would prolly be "sure I've had sex with another guy--so what?" So, there is less of a pool to recruit from. those interested in recording their sexcapades can reap any monetary reward directly. those not interested simply say no.
or if it's just for the money, they want too much, as jobs suck and they want to cash in for the most they can get.
I also think there is the bottom line for ther studios. random recruiting takes time, time is money, so which is more financially sustainable for the studio? sending out recruiters who will be turned down more often than not, or flipping thru a catalogue provided by an agency which has already done the leg work?
Models used to apply to
Broke Straight Boys on the site--I just don't think that happens as much anymore. Or why would
Broke Straight Boys pay modeling agencies?
it's all due to the changing concepts and acceptability of same sex activity among younger men. the very concept of NOT labeling male sexuality has reduced the availability of young men who have not yet had the experience if they were going to. money not withstanding.
and also, because money is so tight, and young men remain dependent on their parents financially far longer than ever before, the threat of being cut off WHEN not IF their parents find out is real.
So, we get what we get unless studios like
Broke Straight Boys start trolling bus stations to exploit truly desperate young men like any other low-life pimp.
