i'm bored, i woke up at 6am to hear my mama monster's new single, born this way. my boyfriend left for work and i don't have to leave quite yet! so, being a long time lady gaga fan (i was a fan before she was famous and before becoming gaga), i quite understand her appeal. she was a 'freak' and an 'outcast,' people looked down on her and criticized her for wearing something different or saying something no one else would. if you're a fan (or not, your opinion still matters just BE RESPECTFUL), what is her allure?

for me, it's her humility and appreciation for her fans, the amazing songs she writes and repeatedly reinvents. she makes people who feel like they have no place feel like they belong in her little monster universe.

her new single is a complete dance hit. it's unreal and even this early in the morning my ass is dancing around while getting ready.

Dearest Zyl84,

I just heard her newest "Born This Way" but I couldn't get the link to download the song. Well I got second best anyway.

Gaga also explained why her little monsters will have to wait months until the "Born This Way" album is released on May 23. "I wish it was coming out in March! But you know, I really want to take the time to set it up properly, and do all the TV [shows] I need to do."

UPDATE: Gaga has tweeted the complete lyrics and credits for "Born This Way":

What a wonderful way to get up in the morning with her song playing on my computer. Thanks for the recommendation.

Stimpy was born this way too!

Lady Gaga and the Gays minus 1 (me) cos I don't really like this song. And it looks like someone has been copy... I mean listening to Madonna's Express Yourself a little too much :)

^ Just as Madonna copied Patti LaBelle before here, as Patti ripped off Aretha Franklin, who stole from Big Mama Thorton and Billie Holiday. Such is music.

Lady Gaga isn't my cup of tea but what she sings about is important and she should be applauded for it.

Mmm sure. It still sucks to me, copied or not :)

even an old lady like me....

I really love the new song. It's a total homage to Madonna, sure, "Respect Yourself" and elements of "Vogue". Z, you did say something about reinventing songs.... Clearly Madonna was a big influence in Lady G's life, which shows not only in her music but her style and attitude. She embraces all that life has to offer and sends an amazing message of acceptance and love here that is sure to resonate deeply with millions of people, this one included:)

And, it's never too early or late to let your dance out. I just boogied to the beat across the hotel lobby to get some fresh coffee. That turned a few heads :001_tt2: Who cares what anyone else thinks. If I wanna dance, I'm gonna! I'll be a Queen, thank you.

see my opinion of the fact that people think its a copy is that it doesnt matter. we need a song like this to drive the fact that we are human beings born just as we are. it might be a copy, but i think this generation needs to hear it, and from a voice like lady gaga, its a great way to get the word out there.

ive been listening to this song all day and i havent stopped dancing!

Damn.

LOVE. THE. SONG.

And I keep looking at the new photo which I think will be the album cover perhaps. And damn I'd do some nasty nasty things to Gaga. She fyyyyne.

I love this song. It does remind me of some of Madonna's work, but that is okay. There are a lot of artists that have similar sounds.

Lady Gaga thinks out of the box

Dearest Ms. Kianna,

You are so very correct Ms. K. Artist routinely use their peers to stimulate and motivate them to make new contributions and creations in their field. New creations are defined as a new way of looking at something and not necessarily the "complete reinvention of the wheel". Even though it may be a derivation of prior works by others or even their prior works, it nonetheless requires thinking out of the box.

I think all artists would readily state their work has been influenced by other artists in their field. A creation is really not totally new, but a re-creation of past works relevant to the current times and/or perspectives. I find Lady Gaga's work to be totally valid in light of the definition of creation above. And, what is more important is her message and how it talks to her fans which is inclusive of the following: gay, bi, straight or any where on the sexual orientation continuum. This is a service to all broadening their perspective on those with a slightly different view on life and love. Therefore, we are all the beneficiaries of her efforts.

Sincerely,

Stimpy

I guess I am a fan of any song that promotes Universal Truth and a positive self-image and the fact that we are all loved equally and that we were born perfect whole and complete just the way we are gets 10 stars out of 5 in my book any day. It invokes several Universal Laws: the Law of Attraction, The Law of One, The Law of Energy among them. This only serves to raise our vibrational frequency in Love. How perfect for Valentines day whether it be Love of Self and Acceptance of Self or Love of Others...

i agree. everytime i listen to this song it reaffirms everything i do as a human being after my own individuality. yes im gay, and im fat, but damnit i was born this way. no mistakes were made in my creation. maybe i am gay to learn independence and love. or maybe i was born with horribly low metabolism so that i can learn to work through my obstacles. I am beautiful in my way, i dont fit any magazine standard. and now that i have found people to appreciate my beauty, i can reinforce how it makes me feel. just tonight i was chosen to be a featured face on the facebook fanpage for the dating website where i met a guy i love very much. when we begin to really exploit our inner beauties, we truely begin to blossom and become the best people we can be. this song reinforces how i have felt for the past four months. thank you Mamma Monster.

this, ladies, gentleman and whoever you are, is the reason lady gaga is a star. she sings live, she dances, she's beautiful, she writes amazing songs, she's humble (i've met her long before she was gaga) and she is one HELL of a musician.

Back in the late '70s I was involved with this guy who'd play Earth, Wind and Fire. I was heavily into singer/songwriters and dirty R&B at that point, and I rebelled at what I heard as disco. He had to get me to listen to the lyrics to realize how deep EWF is, and how Maurice White was addressing all of those issues you mention, Jayman, within a beat that drove you to dance.

Years later, I saw EWF in a Las Vegas showroom with a bunch of buddies. After the show, as we were walking though the casino, I commented to the other guys that I felt like I was high. I was two feet off the ground and yet I'd had nothing more than two watered down drinks. Everyone else felt the same way. The combination of a message of truth and a dance groove can be a powerful thing.

I understand the feeling... On Long road trips I listen to Wayne Dyer, Depak Chopra, or something very inspirational and reassuring. I try to find music, art, and friends that are upbeat and full of energy, healing, and inspiration. In life it is way to easy to get sucked into the negative cesspool and torment that comes when we focus on what is not going right in our lives. We can maintain a wonderful state of homeostasis just by reaffirming ourselves and connecting with our higher consciousness daily for inspiration and motovation... By focusing on the positives we can also begin to manifest things into our lives that will raise our vibration and bring peace, contentment, and abundance into our lives. Thank you for sharing those words of inspiration Smiley...

Dearest Zyl84 and Jayman,

Besides being a musical sensation, she has a message to tell about facing one's insecurities and self-acceptance. This message applies equally well to all ages and generations. It is simple as saying "I was born this way" and that is part of her genius, taking the complex and restating it in it's simpliest configuration. As she is so dedicated to the notion of equality, this message is most definitely overdue and most needed to be heard in our day and given the attention it truly deserves.

She and her following of devoted fans are doing much to raise the consciousness levels of the young, but not in a preachy way. Lets face it, this is addressed directly to the pivotal portion of the population that is most likely to latch on to this perspective for decades to come, just as the "Civil Rights Movement" in my youth in the 60's has made my life forever dedicated to equality and equal rights for all. As I get older, I find this most gratifying that someone is taking up the torch of equality once again, more than mere materialism for its own sake, and being highlighted in her all-encompassing and enclusive artistic thoughtfilled expression.

To quote Jayman,

"We can maintain a wonderful state of homeostasis just by reaffirming ourselves and connecting with our higher consciousness daily for inspiration and motovation... By focusing on the positives we can also begin to manifest things into our lives that will raise our vibration and bring peace, contentment, and abundance into our lives."

She certainly has won me over in a big way with her big enclusive heart. Thanks Zyl for creating this thread as it has relevance to us all on the forum. Personally, I hope all that you anticipate from her concert is fully realized and the warmth of love and self-acceptance from her message engulfs and permanently innoculates each and every participant in the arena with her wonderful uplifting message. What better message could one take to heart?

With my blessings, go in peace,

Stimpy

Dear jwglass and Zyl84,

jwglass, Thank you for your link. I found it truly beneficial and the more of Lady Gaga I hear about, the more I truly like. I loved the interview of Lady Gaga with Cooper Anderson. I love her honesty and her vulnerabilities as well. I am proud to have such a worthy spokesman as Lady Gaga with her positive messages promoting self-worth in her many followers.

Zyl84, Thank you in your wisdom for creating this thread. As a 62 year old, you have definitely expanded my knowledge and appreciation of the music scene and Lady Gaga in particular. You have opened my heart and made me have a new admiration for someone so vital for so many listeners today.

When I was younger, I always gravitated towards someone with a message as opposed to someone offering only a conglomeration of indistinguishable human sounds. I find it most refreshing to hear someone as vibrant as Lady Gaga in the music world with a real message readily understood, once again. Her music is just as relevant to me at 62 as it is to her younger fans. That is saying alot. I truly welcome anyone with a positive message to share with all ages. No one is without personal insecurities, but to help people be more accepting of themselves, this is simply priceless and ageless at the same time! How truly wonderful!

Sincerely,

Stimpy
