Inspirational Things Found on the Internet.

This one is tough to get through. Not uplifting so much. But still full of strength. But an important story nonetheless.

Interview with Arrow star Steve Amell in regards to fellow co-star Colton Haynes coming out.

This is Colton Haynes:

Tampa, that was AWESOME! It brought ME to tears as I was watching it! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing it!

I accidentally found this on the internet today. I found it to be amazing. The video jumps into the late middle of the show and does not tell you the lead-in to the story. This young guy is in a band with his brothers. I'm assuming that most if not all the members are brothers. The lead singer's brother (who is a drummer) went down a dark path. For reasons unknown he stole his lead singer brother's belongings and sold them. Some of those things included not only items like his very clothes, but also very expensive things like his cherished guitar.

It ripped the family apart, disrupted the band...and left the victim a very angry young man. The brother who did all this reached out to Howie Mandel for help. So what Howie does is to set up a fake scenario where the band is called over to a meet a producer and told that they are being offered a recording contract. It's all a setup of course. And the lead singer is totally clueless. Because it's set up strangely to lure him to the spot, it leads to some very awkward and cringe inducing moments. Howie's been warned that he can be a firecracker. In his defense, he's in a lot of emotional pain because of what his own brother did to him just months before. He gets very angry at times in the video because he doesn't understand that he's being "Punked" in a very well intentioned way. I assure you that it works out well in the end. So stay with it if you want to see some amazing stuff.

If the rest of you have inspirational things you want to share on this thread...please do. :)

Here is a video that Louis wanted to share with all of you over here. He is hoping to be back to the forum by the end of the summer. :)

I'm not normally one to out in plugs for upcoming movies. But I found this clip to be so adorable that I thought I'd share it here.

I just noticed this thread and watched a few of the inspirational items posted. After watching the feuding brothers vid - a selection of others popped onto the screen. I watched this one: it hit home for me. My youngest daughter (who is gay) and I were estranged for five years. She had asked me to use any political influence I had (in her mind that was unlimited but I'd been away from MN politics for years and knew my limitations) to press for more equal rights for marriage between two loving individuals regardless of traditional, cultural expectations of it being between one man and one woman. When I refused, she accused me of being so indifferent that she declared she had no use for me in her life. She, along with my son (her straight brother) were leaders in the fight that made it happen in the state. Two years ago she got married and that brought us back together. It is tough to be "away" from one's child. This Mod scene culminates in a 37 year old man meeting his father for the first time. Can't imagine that; but, the father has a great message at the very end where he implores anyone watching who has not been involved in a child's life to get busy and find that child and at least make the offer of some sort of relationship building. It's worth a watch - but then, I have lots of time on my hands!! Enjoy if you have the time.

Glad you liked it, Johnny. Got the same reaction from me, too. But, I'm an ole softy (in more ways than one cuz I've just gone back to the gym where I'd not been since last November when my mom arrived so in need of care)!

Gonna be gone a few days from here. Five of us have rented a house on South Fort Myers Beach and are going there to unwind and drink (perhaps a wee bit too much)! Back Saturday. Will have lots on which to catch up by then...

I like the idea of them reuniting people together. The dancing and all they put into it was a little unnecessary unless that's the shows concept? It was a nice ending though.

Oh, Johnny - 'twas a great, great break from the tedium of settling probate issues! Relaxed. Drank. Parasailed. Rented jet skis. Drank. Caught up. Yes, you should have been there!!! Lots and lots of sun in addition to the above. I believe you'd have fit right in - and maybe had a good time with someone who joined us - accidentally...

The place we got is in a resort of villas. The owner's nephew came down from Michigan - 21st birthday celebration. He must have found us entertaining as we took over the swimming pool and the outdoor tiki lounge. Kept watching so I went over to talk with him. College boy enjoying a quick break before returning to campus for his Junior year. Frat boy. Said he'd partied a lot. However, after a couple of drinks and a cigar he looked pretty "done in". He asked if I wanted to go over to the cigar shop and help him choose a couple of cigars (I know nothing about cigars!) but I thought he might need a steady arm to navigate. First he needed to get his wallet. He didn't come back. Went to check on him after one of my buddies told me he'd over-poured the bourbon into his coke - said it was a lesson that he should "learn to pour his own drinks". Poor kid was lying passed out on his bed. Man, so hot and tempting but I am a gentleman and I put a blanket over his sprawling naked body and closed the door (which locks automatically - he'd not locked it.)

He came down about 11:30 pm and declared himself an amateur. I told him I'd worried about him and came and covered him up and locked him safely in. He had thrown up when he went to get his wallet and "guessed" he'd passed out. I confirmed that. My buddies came back from the bar across the street and all went to bed. College boy was starving so I fixed him a plate of what we had left over from a dinner I had prepared for us - and he devoured it out in the tiki hut. Went back up to his place. Curious straight boy. I might say he'd be a great model for Broke Straight Boys He's a big NASCAR, football, and basketball fan. Knows the stats of almost every player and team. Told him about some of the players I had the privilege to teach who went on to incredible careers in their sport - a hockey player from the 1980 Miracle on Ice team (but he's not a hockey fan), a member of the Boston Celtics with two championships and now a coach in the NBA, a student from here who was drafted by (and is playing with) the MN Vikings this year; recruiting a 17 year old for MN's Timberwolves; my casino days with Randy Moss; a kid for the North Stars who ended up in Dallas when they moved there; and how I tried my damnedest to keep the North Stars in MN by representing Howie Baldwin in his purchase of the team (which would have kept them there) but we did not prevail in those negotiations.

Asking who I was representing now I told him I was retired and hadn't done that side job for more than 20 years. He asked how old I was and I told him I am more than 40 years his senior. He did the math. Said his dad is 53 and looks older than me and assumed I was in my late 40's. I know bullshit when I hear it! It was 3:00 AM and I told him I had to get going. He asked if I wanted to stay. But, something told me that just wouldn't be right. I said, "This daddy's got to get some sleep!". See, I am either a gentleman or a damn fool (one who is too embarrassed to even take off my tank top in public right now). He gave me a hug and told me he now wants to become a sports agent!

We had to check out by 10:00 AM. He didn't appear by then but I am tempted to go back to the resort after bowling today!!! NOT!

Thank you for posting this. I never knew this before. What an incredible lady. Obama's speech was inspiring. Thanks again.

Missed this one but, as a PFLAG member myself I was not aware of its roots - just "knew" it was from the Stonewall era. What a Mom. Mine remained devoted to me as a mother to her son but she never quit wishing I was "normal", not gay. Would have loved to share Jeanne Manford's story with her but now that is too late...
