Inspirational Things Found on the Internet.

This one is a bit difficult to watch because it is kind of a scripted set-up to get a reaction from unsuspecting passers-by. You're left to wonder if this letter is based on a real response from someone, or if it is all completely made up. But the reactions themselves are very raw and genuine. It actually puts Spain in a very good light as you see the reactions of awkwardness and anger by the people of Spain to this letter and the treatment of the couple in question.

I used to live in Spain and have very fond memories of the country and its beautiful people. Conservative Catholic "Bible Belt", formerly fascist dictatorship Spain, actually legalized same-sex marriage in the country in 2005. At the time they were only the third EU country to have done so. It only took a much more economically advanced and culturally (mature?) United States another 10 years to catch up to where Spain already was.

I love listening to the very distinctive Castilian accent of northern Spain, even when you hear the accent spoken in English. I think you'll have a greater appreciation for the tolerance overall of the Spanish people. There is always more work to be done of course. There will be homophobes everywhere who will not catch up to the times. But I did find this heartwarming in its own way. The ending message of the vid says in Spanish to report incidents of homophobia to Spanish authorities, because while they say about 38% of gays face some form of discrimination that's illegal in Spain...only 10% actually report it.

This one is much lighter fare. I love it! The little brother totally steals the show. haha

This ad was first released in 2016 but has been brought back recently on cable channels.

When the night comes,
I look to the stars,
My little silverstars.
The stars that travel through the universe,
That gifts me a beautiful passage when the night arrives,
Where I contemplate the grand command that is full of lights.
You invite me to soar through the heavens,
And that is where I find my little silverstar...
My Little Silverstar...
My Little Silverstar!

A 61 y/o Grandmother Gives Birth To Her Own Granddaughter So Her Son And Son-in-Law Can Have a Baby

The brunette husband is the legal father and biological uncle to the baby. His biological sister donated the eggs for the IVF procedure. (As such she is the biological mother and also the "aunt" to the baby.)

The blondish husband, as the sperm donor, is the legal father and biological father to the baby.

His mother carried the egg and baby to term. So she is both "mother" (as in the one who gave birth to) and the legal grandmother of the baby.

As such the blonde husband and biological father could also be construed as an "older brother" to the baby. haha Confused yet? LOL

Grandma gives birth at 61 so her gay son and his husband can have a baby

It would be no surprise that as a birth photographer, you’d be used to being a part of highly emotional moments in people’s lives.

But the birth of little Uma Louise Dougherty-Eledge left one seasoned photographer an absolute mess — and the incredible images and the story behind them have since gone viral around the globe.

“Being a part of this incredible journey has been one of the most magical experiences,” photographer Ariel Panowicz told Yahoo.

Uma Louise was born Monday morning at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha to proud dads Matthew Eledge and Elliot Dougherty, who are married.

She was conceived via in vitro fertilization, using Eledge’s sperm and eggs from Dougherty’s sister, Lea Yribe.

And it was Eledge’s 61-year-old mother, Cecile Reynek Eledge, who served as the gestational carrier and gave birth to Uma, helping her son and son-in-law become first-time parents.

The incredible moment was captured by Panowicz, who has followed the couple’s journey right from the start.

“From witnessing the moment Matt and Elliot met to photographing their wedding, maternity photos and then the birth of their baby girl, it’s been so amazing watching their love and family grow,” she told Yahoo.

“The strength and poise that [she] demonstrated at 61 years old while giving birth was truly a sight to see. She was so calm, (literally didn’t make a peep during birth), and had the energy of a true warrior.

“When Uma finally entered the world, the room was filled with such an immense amount of love, it truly felt like it vibrated off the walls. Almost everyone was in tears,” she added.

“The look that [Cecile] gave her son and son-in-law when they locked eyes with their baby girl for the first time was enough to drain every dang tear from your body.

“Each person involved in the creation of this little girl is filled with pure love, selflessness and acceptance for one another. This is what family is.”

Eledge revealed that there were others who had offered to carry and deliver the child for the couple.

“I had a lot of people in college say they would (carry and deliver a child), but when push comes to shove, that’s a huge commitment,” he told CNN. “More than anything, we feel lucky to have women selfless enough to do this.”

The couple decided to share the powerful images online and they have been blown away by the response.
“The power of the internet is truly wild,” Panowicz told Yahoo.

“It’s amazing to see how much love and support the world has shown this unique family. People really, truly have demonstrated so much acceptance for something that is so seemingly different than what society perpetuates as a ‘normal family.’

“I think it’s a beautiful reminder to all of us just how powerful love can be. Baby Uma will be surrounded and raised by an amazing family, starting with her two dads.”

:bump:

I'm sorry that some videos from this thread have been taken down from YouTube or other sites, or the links no longer work for whatever reason. But there is still some great and diverse content in here covering many inspirational moments of the human condition.

A quick reminder for those of you who may not know how to watch some of these YT videos in full screen... If you want to watch them in full screen and the small screen version says you can't when you try clicking on the usual full screen tab, then just click on the YouTube logo at the bottom right of the smaller box version of them. Then it will automatically take you to the actual YT page where that exact particular video will be queued up to start playing. It can then be watched in full screen and even downloaded if you wish. The only tradeoff to watching the video on the official YouTube page is that you will probably have to watch a commercial at the beginning or get a popup ad or two during the vid.

Enjoy! :thumbup1:

This one is really poignant and full of unsettling contradictions in our society right now. Some of us have probably already seen it. The beginning of the conversation starts with a family at a Black Lives Matter march last year. The beautiful little girl asks the police officer, "Are you going to shoot us?"

Holocaust survivor, 102, meets nephew after thinking all family died in war

This thread is bittersweet for me on many levels. i love so much of the content. But I'm also disappointed that so many of the videos got taken down from YT or were possibly re-formatted into new YT vids. Also that many of the posters in this thread are no longer with us for various reasons. Some being that they simply moved on... Others unfortunately have since passed away over the years.

But enough of the content and the original spirit of the thread survives. So I hope that forum newbies in particular will still get enjoyment out of it. Also hopefully others will decide to share some new content. :)
