I accidentally found this on the internet today. I found it to be amazing. The video jumps into the late middle of the show and does not tell you the lead-in to the story. This young guy is in a band with his brothers. I'm assuming that most if not all the members are brothers. The lead singer's brother (who is a drummer) went down a dark path. For reasons unknown he stole his lead singer brother's belongings and sold them. Some of those things included not only items like his very clothes, but also very expensive things like his cherished guitar.

It ripped the family apart, disrupted the band...and left the victim a very angry young man. The brother who did all this reached out to Howie Mandel for help. So what Howie does is to set up a fake scenario where the band is called over to a meet a producer and told that they are being offered a recording contract. It's all a setup of course. And the lead singer is totally clueless. Because it's set up strangely to lure him to the spot, it leads to some very awkward and cringe inducing moments. Howie's been warned that he can be a firecracker. In his defense, he's in a lot of emotional pain because of what his own brother did to him just months before. He gets very angry at times in the video because he doesn't understand that he's being "Punked" in a very well intentioned way. I assure you that it works out well in the end. So stay with it if you want to see some amazing stuff.

One of the clues (and cues) is when the "music producer" tells Nick "The Reason is you!" It's an intro to the song. But it also is subliminally telling him that this whole thing and the reason for all of them being there is to support and help him. Hopefully to help him find a way out of his pain.

"I want to thank everyone for the wonderful comments. This song has always meant a great deal to me. It's one of those rare songs that makes me feel joy and sadness all at once. Faces from the past... faces from the present... all come together and tug at my heart.

The one constant we have in life is change. In every life there are heartwarming hellos and heartbreaking goodbyes. That's not always easy to handle. Embracing the new. Letting go of the old. Laughter and tears. This song has always drove these points home to me.

I recorded this version in my home studio. The whole process took 10 minutes. I had a good cry when I was through. A few days later - my partner and I filmed the video with a cellphone, on a deserted beach of our beloved Cape Cod. It was well below freezing and very windy. I think we were on the beach for 15 minutes.

Years later - I listen to this version and look at the resulting video, and I'm happy knowing it turned out as well as it did - considering the circumstances. Some things are meant to be. I'm so glad it's given people joy. That's always nice to know.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful New Year - and when I say everyone I mean everyone. Friends, family, black, white, gay, straight, Democrat, Republican.... even the people who don't like my version of this song. It's all good. Life is too short and fleeting to dwell on our differences, so if you're reading this, I'm wishing you and your loved ones a Happy New Year.

On days like Christmas and New Year we become more conscious of one another's feelings. Kindness and compassion are more noticeable. My hope is this - that we can bring the kindness and compassion we see around the holidays into the rest of the year as well. Life is as loving as we all choose to make it together.

Thanks Jon! That video was making the rounds on some news shows lately. But I had never seen the whole thing until now. It really shows the ability to overcome obstacles and handicaps. When life gives you lemons, don't just lay down and play dead. Make lemonade.

We are all dealt hardships and what appear to be setbacks in life. And they do hurt. While not belittling or playing down the level of physical or emotional pain of any type of loss or disappointment...what's important is what we do next. Do we allow it to cling to us and drag us down for the rest of our lives like a ball and chain? Or do we pick ourselves up, hopeful in a brighter and happier future and keep on going?

Tampa I said SOME... And yes ALL of us are dealt with some bad cards in our lives but you gotta look at the good cards that you have been dealt too. That poor dog was dealt with 2 legs but that is all he knew, so he got on with it because he didnt know any difference.
