I just wanted to share some news with my forum friends.

I am home. :) In tons of pain. Who knew ?!?! :) Vicodin is my friend right now. No regrets though. Thanks for all the nice posts. I think it really does help having all of you thinking good things. I appriciate it from the bottom of my heart.

So now the journey continues. I lost 24 lbs on the presurgery diet. This next week I am on an all protein liquid diet, then the following 3 weeks I get to eat soft foods and pureed foods. So I will get my first band adjustment right before I head to New Orleans with LoveLumps and JWGlass.

I love you all. xoxoxo

That's great to hear Deidra, and congrats on the pre surgery 24 pounds! Hopefully the liquids and pureed foods will be an easy temporary adjustment for you, and please KEEP US POSTED! :001_smile:

Miss D, I have you in my thoughts and prayers. Be well and heal quickly! And I'll be willing to bet that you have an adorable little porn star angel sitting on your shoulder, watching over you! ;-) (In a jockstrap)!
Much love your way!

Miss D: I am so proud of you for taking this first step, (and showing the rest of us the way). We'll keep the good thoughts rolling, and waiting for your posts.

Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday

Dear MissDeidra,

First of all, I want to wish you
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES TO YOU TODAY.

Then, because of your type of surgery you just had, I feel you have had a "re-birth" so to speak. Therefore, I wish you
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
again and this surgery will allow you to evolve into the person you want to become when all is settled and healed. Much success with your new diet too!

Wishing you the best of luck to you!

Sincerely,

Stimpy

better late, than never!

I wanted to wish you a VERY heartfelt, and SPECIAL birthday, Deidra! :thumbup1:

Well. I have some bad news to report. As we speak I'm laying in a hospital bed. I had to have my lap band removed 2 days ago because I got a severe infection at the original surgical site. I had my one week check up and while getting the exam the doctor noticed I had a growth under the main incision. He told me it was a normal complication of surgery and it "would go away by itself". Well it did not. And about a week later it has just gotten bigger and more painful. Last Friday I had to have my abdomen wall cut open to scrape out the infection that had formed. I had to unpack and pack my wound all weekend. On Sunday night I went to urgent care and had then do it, and the Doctor said it was looking good. When I saw the surgeon on Monday he told me the infection had moved all the way to my stomach and my band would be removed Tuesday. I am sitting here in my hospital bed with a 4 inch long open hole in my belly and the prognosis is I will be out work for the next 6 weeks with a machine attached to my stomach. I suppose the worst possible outcome came of this thing that was supposed to help change my life.

The best $16,000 I ever spent!!!!

Miss. D, I am sooo sorry to hear this news. Just know you are in my prayers and I sincerely pray for your speedy recovery. It's strange how we encounter such detours in the journey to a better life. I'm sure all will work out, and please be encouraged. You have a lot of people pulling for you. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Miss D, my thoughts are with you for the fastest recovery possible. I am so sorry that this has turned out the way it has. Please keep us updated......you have so many people pulling for you.

I'm so sorry Deidra! I would take your place if I could, so you wouldn't have to go through the agony/disappointment, IN A HEARTBEAT. I am just glad, (as I am sure you are, too), that they caught the infection when they did! KUDOS for them! You get back to feeling better!

Dear MissDeidra,

What rotten, miserable luck and at a pretty penny, too.

Following my knee replacement I had two years ago, it had such devastating effects to my overall health that it forced me to retire 4 years early with a new lifelong condition I must deal with daily. Due to extreme swelling in both legs, I am required to devote 3 hours per day in a machine for the remainder of my life, that was an unknown risk prior to my surgery. This condition made the rehab I was to go through much more painful and trippled the time I needed for physical therapy. What I learned from this, my first surgery, is that no matter how routine it may be, it does not always guarantee the results you wanted or expected.

I truly am sorry to hear about your misfortune. Surgeons always make surgery seem so very routine and dismissive of the risks on the front end. However, it is what happens following the surgery that makes it worthwhile or not.

I hope you have a speedy recovery with no further complications. I will keep you in my prayers! And, worst of all, you had so many high expectations going into this surgery.

Sincerely sorry to hear!

Stimpy

I am so sorry you are going through this. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dearest Deidra,

I have been away for a while and am just now finding out about your condition. I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. It breaks my heart. All your friends in here wanted this to work for you also. You were so brave in attempting this procedure in the first place. And you still are a very brave woman. As you recover from the infection and the newest surgery you can take solace in the fact that you tried your best to make this work.

You will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Big hugs Deidra xoo
