Over the last couple of years some of my friends here have seen pictures of me and gotten to know what I look like through the BTS videos. If you haven't, I will tell you the most common word people use to describe me is "BIG". Since I was 15 years old I have been a big girl. I started gaining weight in secondary school and just continued on into my 20's and now I'm 30. I decided after doing so much travelling this last year that is was time to try and do something about my obesity. I have such a good time going to new cities and seeing new places but it is so hard when you are a heavy person. So after I got back from Southern Decadence last year I made an appointment with a weight loss clinic. And months and months later. I am super happy to say that in about 3 weeks I am going to be having life changing Gastric Lap-Banding surgery. I am so excited. It's a done deal now, all I have to do is wait. After years of dieting and trying every weight loss technique known to humans, I'm finally going to be able to do something that will actually give me the results.

I know that gastric banding is now quite common. From going through all the insurance hoops I know now that most insurance companies will cover you if you're just 50 lbs over weight or have a BMI of 40 or higher. It is absolutely mind-blowing what I have learned over the last year. So I guess I wonder if anyone here in forum land has gone through a weight-loss surgery?

Anyway. I'm overjoyed. I can't wait for this chapter in my life to be a distant memory and a new, healthy chapter to begin. :)

Deidra, as long as YOU are happy with YOU, that's all that matters. If this is what you decide you wish to do, for YOU, then I am happy for you, and my thoughts will be with you. I have shared stories, I am not Mr 'Skinny-Bone Jones", nor Mr. Adonis, however, I have come to use these (FINALLY-it DID take time), that OUTER beauty fades w/ age, whereas INNER beauty is eternal.

Keep being the REAL you!!

Great News

Deidra, your reasons for wanting to get rid of the extra weight are the right ones since you are very kickass just as you are in the esthetic sense. But I know from friends who've shed a bunch of pounds that the joy of being able to dash up a flight of stairs or get in and out of the back seat of a small car are huge when you've had weight problems. And more to the point: I saw a thing on TV yesterday about fat people suffering early stage Type 2 diabetes. These guys were showing no signs of the disease after a concerted effort at weight loss and a really pared down diet (half the normal calorie intake a day). So there are lots of reasons to drop some kilos.

On a different note it's great to see a friend undertake an initiative like this that brings with it the kind of enthusiasm you show in your post. I hope you'll inform us every step of the way.

Good for you. Bless your heart. Way to go. All that rubbish:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Deidra I am hyped for you! Not for the surgery necessarily but for the joy that it is bringing you! Like slim mentioned, you are totally awesome already so this can be nothing but good.

Keep us posted as it goes down!

Well done Ms D. I wish you all the best with the surgery and I know that you'll have an extra spring in your step afterwards.

BTW, nice cock. ;)

Deidra, If that's what's going to make you happy, then I'm happy for you. Just don't lose too much cos I found you beautiful and charming the way you are :)
Keep us posted as it gets closer to the surgery, you got friends here :)

Best Wishes, Miss D. . Carl & I have a neighbor on our block who had the surgery done 18 months ago. Now he and his husband are NEVER home, always out traveling, riding motorcycles and the lot. I am almost at the same point as you, just "hemming & Hawwing" if you know what I mean. Good luck sweetie!

Wow Deidra! That's great news that you have it all set up. And that you are so enthusiastic about it. I concur with other people though that you are already a beautiful person. But if this will help your health and your self esteem, then you know we will all be very supportive. Please keep us updated on how this goes for you.

Good Luck with your surgery Miss D. I know what a huge decision it was, and I am so happy that everything fell into place for you to make it happen.

Keep us posted. You will be in our thoughts.

I just wanted you to know, (those that met me can/will vouch), after reading the other posts, I neglected a MAJOR factor, SINCE it is making YOU HAPPY, "I" am happy for YOU!

Please, do not read into my previous post too deeply, I meant NO selfishness!

Deidra, I love you! You are one brave lady, and one who deserves all the good things to be had in a very long and happy and healthy life! Cheers to you, friend.

Ms. D,

How totally awesome for you! I haVe several friends who have undergone the procedure and have changed their lives. It is going to be a battle, the post=op period can be depressing as you adjust to the new you, and the new way of eating. It won't all be rosey, but. Know that all your friends are here when you need us. A good support group really helps. You can rock this girl!

Let us know when exactly you are going in for the procedure.

Thanks so much everyone. If you all would like I will post pics as I do this. Just to clarify. This is something that I want very much. My BMI is 53 and lately I haven't been feeling so hot and I've been dealing with health issues that arise from obesity. So this is exactly what I NEED. I'm only doing this for one reason, because I WANT to. I have always been pretty comfortable with myself and have a positive body image. This is more about being healthy and prolonging my life. I need to lose weight if I want to live a productive life. Right now things that should be easy are a daily struggle. So thank you to all the well wishers. Let me tell you my ideal size to get to is a woman's 16. That is by no means small. It's just about average. I still want to keep my curves :)

Definitely post pix but above all your commentaries relating to the images. Wow!

I have known several people who have had this procedure done and they have had remarkable success. It is not a panacea of course, nothing is. But someone committed to losing the weight it works wonders. So I wish you all the best in accomplishing your goals.

Having struggled with weight issues my entire life I understand the frustrations of trying lose weight and the judgmental attitudes of some people towards those of us who are not height/weight proportional. A year ago I had to have have stomach surgery for a variety of issues but the side effect was a weight loss of 110 pounds which resulted in definite benefits healthwise. My blood pressure dropped, my diabetes is now diet controlled and my mobility is greatly increased. Now if I could only figure out how to drop 30 years or so .....

But I digress, again good luck and good fortune on your procedure. I know you will be delighted with the results.

I hope by my previous post, I did not 'MAKE' you share something that you didn't want to. I am SO HAPPY for you, knowing I heard it(FIRST HAND) that is it something that YOU WANT(ED)! My thoughts are with you. NOTE:I did not include 'prayers', as I respect your religious views!

Surgery is scheduled for July 20th. :) I have 2 more days of eating normal foods before I start the pre-surgery liquid diet. :( I think I have decided on Indian tomorrow and Greek on Saturday. I am also having a portrait done for my job that all the Store Managers and above have to do next week. So it will be a great "before" shot and I will post it up here for all my friends to peruse. :))

And Bob....No worries fella. I know you don't mean any offense. Don't get yourself worked up thinking I am reading into anything. We've been chatting with each other long enough that I know exactly what you mean when post your thoughts on a subject.
