Teacher who claims phobia of young kids sues school district

By NBC News staff
A teacher in Ohio is suing her former school district, alleging discrimination: She says she was forced to teach younger kids despite her fear of them.

Maria Waltherr-Willard, 61, who worked for Mariemont City Schools for 35 years, was reassigned from a high school to a junior high in Cincinnati, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported. Her lawsuit claims the district discriminated against her based on age and her "pedophobia," which can mean an extreme fear or anxiety around young children, the Enquirer said. The suit was filed in June 2012.

When Waltherr-Willard was transferred to a junior high school, she reportedly asked if there would be a high school position for her the following year. The school district claimed there were no open positions at the high school for her, according to Fox19.com in Cincinnati. She eventually retired in March 2011.

The lawsuit calims that the French and Spanish teacher had been diagnosed with specific phobia and general anxiety disorder, Fox19.com reported.
Experts told the Enquirer that extreme anxiety or irrational fear around children is a rare but recognized anxiety disorder.

18 human heads shipped from Rome held up at Chicago airport

By Becky Bratu, Staff Writer, NBC News
Authorities at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport are holding up a shipment of 18 human heads meant to be used in anatomical research at a facility in the Chicago suburbs, local media reported.

The heads arrived from Rome just before Christmas, and officials initially said an issue with paperwork caused the hold-up, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. But the newspaper reported Tuesday that authorities stopped the shipment from going through because it was headed to a facility that is under investigation.

According to an anonymous source quoted by the Sun-Times, the investigation itself is “absolutely not” connected to the shipment of the heads.
A spokeswoman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, Mary Paleologos, told The Associated Press the heads were now being held in containers at the Cook County morgue.
The heads, shipped from a legitimate facility in Italy, were properly embalmed, wrapped and tagged as human specimens, Paleologos told the AP. There is no suggestion of foul play, she added.
The heads, still covered in skin, were found Monday at the airport.
“There’s no issue with the transportation of body parts for medical purposes,” Brian Bell, a spokesman with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, told the Sun-times. “There’s nothing against the law that says you cannot ship them, provided you have the right documentation.

“Everybody here is ‘Oh my gosh, you got a box of heads’ and everybody thinks that it’s unheard of,” Bell added. “It is a potentially legitimate medical shipment. We’ve seen it at various ports in the nation.”

[h=1]Icy Pavement In Norwich Trips People Up... Over And Over Again[/h]
Things to do in freezing cold weather conditions:
1. Wrap up warm.
2. Only venture outside when absolutely necessary.
3. Avoid Duke Street, Norwich. Specifically: the part near the bridge.
Because as you can see from the video above - which is rather brilliantly named 'Duke Street Hazard' - Norwich City Council may have traffic cones galore, but it seems to be lacking in grit.

[h=1]Man falls out of train and runs after it at night in Siberia[/h]
In the Amur region (Siberia), a man miraculously survived after falling out of a train. The man had to run in the cold for seven kilometers to the nearest station in some flip-flops and T-shirt. The unfortunate passenger was wearing only flip-flops and a T-shirt. The incident occurred in the Amur region of Russia. A resident of Bratsk was traveling in a night train on route Moscow-Neryungri. He went for a smoke in the vestibule. Coming back, the man mistakenly opened the door of the tailgate nonworking vestibule, which was unlocked for some reason. Having stepped into the darkness, the man fell out of the train and found himself on the tracks in the middle of taiga. The temperature was nearly -40 Centigrade. However, 42-year-old Siberian man did not panic. Dressed only in a T-shirt, sweatpants and flip-flops, he ran after the train. Needless to say that he could not catch up with the train. However, the man was able to run on the tracks to get to the nearest station, where he received help. He had to cover a distance of about 7 kilometers. The life and health of the courageous passengers is out of danger.

Loved that Robert - Don't think we'll see that on the London Underground. Far too stiff upper lip as Tampa would say..
