Improvements are starting to be made, and other than a camera issue I had with it I'm very pleased with today's full action scene featuring Rocco and Zach.

Great job guys, keep it up!

Abe
What I find most interesting, Abe is that the new scenes all open with a page that includes the date that the scene was filmed, (something that our former forumite Jon used to request regularly). The latest Rocco & Zach scene was shot on February 12, 2011, while the first scene that we were introuduced to bsb2, the solo with Jimmy was shot three weeks later on March 5, 2011.

So, whatever debate and criticism that we have had on the forum had nothing to do with the most current hot sex scene between Rocco & Zach. As I said from the introduction of the new team, a little over two weeks ago, we must sit back and watch and wait perhaps a month or longer and then make an overall evaluaion of bsb2.

Mark apparently decided to introduce us to the new "straight boys" slowly and not start off with some brand new guys having anal sex in their very first appearance on the site. I personally like the introduction, and the buildup, and now the fruits of the introductory scenes are blossoming in the latest scene, and apparently there will be lot's of fucking in the upcoming scenes.

Perhaps, because of my age, I've learned that life does not always give us instant gratification, and in reality, two weeks and a few days was really not that long of a time to wait for the real action to begin.

Thank you Mark, and "Matthew", and I look forward to the continued development of the "characters" and the hot sex that I'm expecting as the new site moves forward.

Overall the look is nice, but I hate that you have to download all the pictures now. I use those more than the videos, and I hate that all the photos aren't all up like they were before. I don't wanna download them all, because I don't want ALL of them. Doesn't seem like there were as many photos as before either. Gotta say I really REALLY hate the new format. The old way wasn't broke so why bother?

Hi EricBliss,
I feel you may have misunderstood my post about being able to download all the pictures. While it is true you can now download all the pictures in one go, you can still click on individual photos & download the only ones you want as it was before.

You mean I have to watch weeks of porn in order to make my decision?

Of all the rotten jobs...

I'm glad that some people are enjoying the site more but I have full confidence that some people will still complain about ANYTHING, but I will refrain from calling them any names (regardless of the namecalling them have been doing).

Lol..........

After watching today's video, I have to seriously question whether Matthew has the right formula for Broke Straight Boys to be successful.

There is a literary device that goes back over two thousand years called deus ex machina. That's Greek and comes out of classical Greek drama. The literal translation is God out of the machine, but it is a device where an intractable problem in a drama is suddenly solved by the introduction of another character, object, device or power. Think of the transporter in Star Trek. Captain Kirk is on a planet that is falling apart when, at the last minute, the transporter beams him way. Or maybe it's Jame Bond who comes in at the last minute and stops the bomb that will blow up the world. Deus ex machina is a great device that keeps things going in a drama and solves impossible problems.

On this site we've got a big problem and that's making straight boys perform gay sex. Mark wants to reset Broke Straight Boys to bring back straight boys. Great idea. I applaud him for it. But how does he get straight boys to fuck and blow each other? He uses deus ex machina, and in this case that role is played by the director. The director uses cash, and even more importantly, his spirit, to get these guys to do things they wouldn't do normally. He is the spell that Harry Potter casts that gets other characters to do what he wants.

It isn't like these guys aren't expecting give another man a blow job. They have applied for work at a gay website. They've signed a contract stating what they will be paid for performing specific gay sex acts (The money on the screen is all a dodge, or at least historically has been. I'd like to think the boys get to keep it as a tip but it is not their primary pay.). Under the previous production crew, there was a walk-through before the scene (call it a rehearsal) and still pictures were taken. The boys may have even simulated the sex they were about to have (think of the famous picture of Kyler fucking Zakk in the banner of the old website, a scene we never saw as the picture was taken during the walk-through, before the video was shot). Along the way, a model may have buyer's remorse, or even want to back out of the deal, but you handle that off screen, even if you have to start the scene over again, re-shooting the video from scratch with a re-invigorated model. Once the camera is rolling on the final take, it's time for everyone to be professionals and go to work.

And it is the time for the director to be the instigator, problem solver, chief cheerleader, funnyman and motivator. He starts by offering these supposedly naive boys some cash for gay sex acts. They accept his offer. The director puts on a dirty video. He gives the boys directions as to what he wants them to do, providing encouragement along the way. He makes the scene happen.

The director is the deus ex machina. He makes the impossible happen. He gets straight boys to have gay sex.

I wonder if Matthew sees this as his role. I haven't seen it so far. With his quiet voice and subtle ways, he seems to want to persuade the models. No, he needs to tell them what to do. He needs to make the action happen. That may not be easy with straight boys but that's what he has to do.

In the Jimmy and Matt video posted today, I got the impression that Matthew thinks he is standing in for us on the set. No, he has a much bigger role. Matthew is the god of the set. He controls it. It's the camera that is our stand-in. The camera is our eyes, with its microphone our ears.

The videos we've been seeing were filmed at least a month ago. The Jimmy and Matt video was filmed two months ago. Maybe Matthew has figured this out by now. I hope for our sake he has.

This last video was a disaster.

This last video was a disaster.

I think you make SOME fair points, but Matthew isn't likely making all the decisions. David even said when he was doing the site, he wasn't making all the decisions. We don't know the details of whether they have contracts or how exactly they came to be on the site or what their real compensation is. A lot of what you wrote is based on assumption.

The last video was NOT a disaster, but the preview of it said someone was being fucked which wasn't true.

Jimmy's attitude spoiled another video. So what?

On a site that delivers three updates weekly I can handle that with ease. Looking forward to the next episode with Jamie and Slink. And after that my favourite new hottie Vinnie returns, together with Rocco!

Great post Smiley, and you also bring up some great points. I actually don't think the scene was a "disaster", but I do think it was very boring and about as much fun to watch as watching paint dry.

But in all fairness, I think this type of scene is the intent and goal of the new Broke Straight Boys Honestly, even given the fact that these guys obviously signed contracts/release forms etc., this is the type of scene you would expect to see if you hired completely straight guys to get naked, and attempt to perform sexual acts with each other.

Taking the director out of the picture, if David or anyone else for that matter was filming this scene, if these guys truly are straight I honestly can't see their behaviour and actions from a sexual standpoint being any different.

I seriously think this type of scene is what the new Broke Straight Boys is all about. I believe that it's their intent to provide a backstory with each scene, and the negotiation/flashing of cash etc is all part of it. As is the type of sexual interaction we've been seeing these guys have with each other.

Granted it completely lacks passion and lust shared between them of any sort, but wouldn't you agree that's how it would likely be with any other straight guys?

I've had more than my fair share of messing around with straight guys in times past, back when I was in my 20's, but that *always* involved quite a bit of alcohol being consumed (from both of us), and instead of being done in front of a camera and film crew it was done inside my car or my apartment when no one else was around. And even then, the kissing didn't happen right away at least the first time, and in 100% of the times where this happened, there was *always* remorse on the straight guy's side followed by him apologizing for what had happened...and the all-too-common theme of him telling me it wouldn't be happening again.

Taking it another step further, how many well established straight porn stars do you see also doing gay porn -- in spite of the fact that gay porn pays male models significantly more than straight porn does. The short answer is, very few. Sure there are some who have and some who still do (one of them who got his start on the original Broke Straight Boys before making the move over to straight porn, but he also does gay porn on the side under a different name). I also know of another relative newcomer to the world of straight porn, and he actually got his start in gay porn. Another one who got his start here on Broke Straight Boys 1.0 doing gay made the move over to the smaller paying straight porn.

But other than a few guys here and there, for the most part straight guys don't often times make the move over to gay porn in spite of the fact it pays way better. Probably because they don't want to, couldn't do it, and maybe even would feel like making a move like that would be selling out.

Back to the new Broke Straight Boys, Mark has made it clear that the new Broke Straight Boys is about straight guys!

While some of us find the result quite boring and unexciting, there are plenty who applaud that decision and are loving it.

I think that the decision has been made, and we are free to decide whether or not we like the result. If you want to see straight guys performing sexual acts with each other, you will see it on the new Broke Straight Boys just like we've been seeing.

But the days of the guys doing it with each other and obviously loving it are over on this site I think. Because if they were loving it, kissing and making out and showing obvious lust and passion for the sex they're having, their "straightness" (is that a word?) would not be believable.

Like Mark said, the new Broke Straight Boys is about *straight* guys. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I applaud them for making this decision and sticking to it. For those who want this type of thing on a regular basis you will be very happy and loving it.

While I personally don't like it and find it boring, at least they are sticking true to the new format without wavering which is commendable.

Seriously guys, Broke Straight Boys is not the first site out there that made a major format change and revamp, it's part of the biz. If you like it, great! If not, you might as well get used to it and learn to adjust to the changes.

Abe

Wow, Abe, are you sure you wrote that? LOL I'm glad you aren't as angry as you were before.. I think things will improve over time when we start seeing more hardcore action. I'll admit even I'm a little frustrated because I've wanted to see Jimmy in particular in a fucking scene, but who knows if that will happen. None of us are happy about everything, but that's the nature of the beast... it's a major site change and people get upset when you go messing with what they're used to.

I think you make SOME fair points, but Matthew isn't likely making all the decisions. David even said when he was doing the site, he wasn't making all the decisions.
Could well be. Good point. Whether he's the head of the production company, or just an employee who is following instructions, he is their spokesman. Let's call him the "vox ex machina", or the voice of the machine. Same difference. The problem still exists. The solution is the same.

We don't know the details of whether they have contracts or how exactly they came to be on the site or what their real compensation is. A lot of what you wrote is based on assumption.
We do know from numerous posts by him that David had his models under contract. Wasn't there even an old video where we first ran into the models while they were in the office, signing the contract? We have this interesting post recently from slimvintage which speculates on specifics of the contract. As you say, qscott, it's speculation, but as a guy who was a businessman for thirty years, I can't believe that the production company would let these guys walk on the set without a contract. Otherwise they are opening themselves up to charges of sexual abuse and even rape. I had some employee contracts not because they benefited me or the employee but because the covered my company's ass. I have to believe Mark is too smart and has been around the block too many times to be so careless to not insist upon contracts for the models.

As for how the guys came to be models, this link has been running on the public homepage for months under the heading of Modeling. Even if a guy walked in off the street, looking for a job, sometime early in the interview somebody would have to say, "You know the job is having gay sex, with videos of the action posted on the Internet, don't you?" If not, Mark could lose his whole company over one lawsuit. A jury would award an innocent-looking, sweet, young urchin millions of dollars if they believed he was coerced into getting his ass fucked on screen.

I was never angry qscott86, I was just frustrated and disappointed was all. I'm still disappointed from a personal perspective, but only because I like to see hot sex between hot straight guys right out of the gate lol.

You actually made a great point when you pointed out that I was repeating myself and doing nothing but complaining about the new format, you were absolutely right and that was an exercise in futility on my part.

I do think it's best to make constructive criticism in a fair, and reasonable manner instead of just complaining and saying how much you hate something.

But after I took your advice and decided to just let things play out as it were, I realized that what we are seeing in these scenes is exactly what is intended by Broke Straight Boys management.

Mark was very clear about the fact they were going to make a major change, and he also clearly let us know that the site is now going to be about straight guys...which it is!

None of this is a shock to me anymore like it was at first, it was a business decision pure and simple. Every site needs to have its target audience, its core group so to speak, and they apparently made the business decision that among the literally thousands of other sites out there, Broke Straight Boys needed to re-find itself and define a core principal or "theme" for the site. And to look for that core principal, you need look no further than the site's title...Broke Straight Boys.

Therefore, we have seen this recurring theme very prominently featuring all three words of the site's title in every single scene since re-launch: Broke, Straight, Boys! It doesn't get any simpler.

If they started introducing rich guys, gay guys or non-masculine type guys into the mix, they would be straying from the site's core principals.

So what we are observing is the result of a very fundamental change in the site's postition in terms of what kind of content they want to present to the core audience/viewers/membership base.

In any business, these types of decisions aren't made lightly, and usually not just by any one person.

Of course as humans many of us are resistant to change, and don't always like changes that have been made. But sitting around complaining about them doesn't help anyone at all as you pointed out qscott86.

I have decided that for my remaining time here I support the decision to make the fundamental changes, in the spirit of accepting that oftentimes changes are needed. While I personally don't like the new scenes overall, that fact is really not relevant.

I do, however, feel it's important to point out that if you're looking for the types of scenes that we've been used to seeing on the old Broke Straight Boys, you're not going to find them anymore as they're no longer being produced on this site so I do think people need to start getting used to that idea because the site is moving forward with us or without us as individual members.

Abe

Abe, predicting is very hard; especially the future.

If the new Broke Straight Boys only hires straight guys that want to top, there wouldn't be fucking scenes to show at all. They need guys like Zach... (and he's much more attractive than many of the previous old queens) Jamie and Zach could be a hot fuck to watch.

After so many years why not give Broke Straight Boys 2.0 a fair chance? Personally I expect much more hot scenes, intimacy and chemistry to come!

Please ease up & chill

No it's not constructive. Constructive would be saying how the site should improve or saying specifically what you liked from Broke Straight Boys 1.0. Rather, people just want to be complain and let's face it--some people are just in the business of complaining. I have no problem with them incorporating SOME of the elements from the first series into this one. But I do not want the site to return to what it has.. we endured that for years. It was good at first, but it went downhill in recent years.

If you reread my posts you will see that I offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism by saying improve the shaky camera, narrator, tone & not throwing the money around.By pointing out what is wrong, people behind the scenes make the changes that need to be made & that as a result is constructive but don't insult us as bitter queens, debbie downers & on & on. You do nothing but agitate us that offer recommendations by what not to do. Take a chill pill & ease up please!

LOL...agreed rrhill, predicting -- like forecasting -- is never easy to do. It's actually all about probabilities and statistics, and in forecasting when you say there is a 30% probability that something will happen, whether it does or not you're still always right.

I am saying that categorically, and my confidence is strong on this, there is a high likelihood what I am said above is correct.

I didn't say that I haven't given Broke Straight Boys 2.0 a fair chance, what I did say is that I support the decision, and I applaud their efforts to make a decision and stick to it.

Bet you an Euro Abe, Broke Straight Boys will be sizzling hot within weeks!

Base my forecast on the assumption that the production team reads this forum, and your posts too.

Base my forecast on the assumption that the production team reads this forum, and your posts too.

I have no doubt this forum is read by the powers that be & I have no doubt that changes will be made based upon the comments of the forumites.
Even though there is a shorter turnaround with the episodes from the time they are shot to the time they are uploaded & released, there is still a time lag.
So I don't expect to see any suggestions filtering through for at least another 4 to 6 weeks.
