Interesting back drop for this photo, Tampa. Beach Place is on the strip in Fort Lauderdale on the grounds of the infamous Marlin Beach Motel, where the movie “Where the Boys Are” was filmed and where the gay hustlers would congregate back in the eighties while Spring Break was still a thing in Lauderdale, and across the street from the McDonald’s, (yes KG, that McDonalds, lol). Where the boy in the pic is standing opposite the old Marlin Beach Motel sure brings back a lot of memories for me.

As soon as I saw that pic, I remembered one of those memories that you related on the Forum some time ago! Also didn't you also mention that straight college boys running out of money with a few days to go on Spring Break week on occasion would slip away from their friends to "solve that problem"?

The Marlin Beach Motel was a candy store of young men, many gay there for the tea dances and cruising, many young hustlers to make some money off the older gay men. But some of the more interesting were the college kids from all over the country who would slip away from their buddies who were drinking beer at the straight places along the strip with the belly flopping contests and where all the college girls were to visit the gay party club with daily afternoon tea dances.
There was one midwestern college boy named Pete who I became friends with one year. He wasn’t a hustler but came from a small conservative place and loved the party atmosphere at the Marlin. I partied with him and a few other guys for several days during that Spring Break. He reminded me of some of the college boys that came to Florida and wound up on David’s futon on Broke Straight Boys-1 like Logan, Alden & Robert, Zach & Kyler.
