The Marlin Beach Motel was a candy store of young men, many gay there for the tea dances and cruising, many young hustlers to make some money off the older gay men. But some of the more interesting were the college kids from all over the country who would slip away from their buddies who were drinking beer at the straight places along the strip with the belly flopping contests and where all the college girls were to visit the gay party club with daily afternoon tea dances.
There was one midwestern college boy named Pete who I became friends with one year. He wasn’t a hustler but came from a small conservative place and loved the party atmosphere at the Marlin.
