Well with CJ it's complicated. For those of us who have been around for a while and watched his progression over a 2 years time he started off really strong. With lots of potential for development and reinventing himself. Unfortunately for him as a model his looks peaked very early in life. Combine with that the fact that his performances sputtered out towards the end.
We had already seen him bottom time and time again and we got bored with it. Not only that, but it looked like HE got bored with it as well. I think he was a straight guy who had a fetish for anal stimulation. Hey, many of us have our own kinks. You know? We've all got them. haha Doing the porn was a twofer for him. He got his fetish indulged and he made some money.
If you look at his performances from the 5 guy outdoor orgy scene (11/8/08) and go BACKWARDS...you see some primo quality scenes from a new guy. After the orgy scene you see a slow and steady decline. So it's like we are talking about two different models. Before and after.
The people who speak highly of CJ in here for the most part remember him fondly from his earlier days. Those who know him only from his later stuff will usually have a lower opinion of him. That's why people tend to be so polarized about him. At least in my opinion.
Now you talk about CJ the PERSON and he gets rave reviews from his co-workers. You ask Logan who his favorite models were to work with and he quickly says CJ. (Among one or two others) You ask Diesal who his favorite models were to work with and he says CJ and Mike R. Or Mike R and CJ. haha (Among a few others) So on a personal level many of the guys really really like CJ. Not just because they liked working with him in scenes, but because apparently he's a really good guy.
Echo your sentiments there Tampa, especially the last paragraph. In the end people got fed up with CJ's monotone performance and don't give a fuck attitude, similar in a way to Dustin. It is not until we hear such comments from other models as you have quoted, or seen such touching videos and comments made following Dustin's death that we really get to understand who these guys are in real life.
Maybe we should adopt the policy of treating the models like a person first then as a model second. Then maybe in some cases our comments may not be so harsh.
