I was viewing and responding to a thread by KRU on Ashton having a white supremacy tat when suddenly it was removed from posting.. Is Broke Straight Boys now into censorship? What happened?:confused1:

From what I've seen as new posts are added the old ones go on the home page but it you look at the forums you might find it there

I think the problem may be that KRU posts everything in the Membership Chat section. Mark used to move the off site comments to the general chat forum, and he asked him to post in the right place but KRU kept doing it, so Mark told him he would just remove the posts placed in the wrong part of the forum.

Thanks all - apparently Mikeyank has hit on the problem! I was simply posting a comment Kru made regarding Aston of Broke Straight Boys 1 having a white supremacy tat on his back. Ashton was one of those models I had a love-hate affair with because of his banter and his gook looking prime cut on College Boy Physicals Always wondered what happened to him after Dave, in Dave's Broke Straight Boys site called Straight
R
ent Boys, informed me that Ashton had followed his ex girl friend to Texas where he severely beat her then current boyfriend into a bloody mess. For this, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison. But that was in 2010. Wonder if he returned to porn?

You've piqued my curiosity here Gardenboy. Are you talking about this Ashton Park with the naval(?) themed tattoo on his right arm?
Or the other Ashton below him?

Ashton Park did have a nice body. He was a favorite model of David's partner Eddie. (Alias Dr. Phingerphuk) That's one reason he got so many scenes. lol

I knew he had a bit of a darker badboy side, but I had no idea he might be a racist. What tattoo does he have that has racist connotations? I'm very happily rather naïve about things like that.

Tampa, I am much like you in that I also had a love-hate relationship with Aston, and I do recall discussions on the forum regarding his "white supremacy tatoo" but I also never noticed it myself, so perhaps KRU is correct that David tried to shoot around it.

Bur one of the great things about Broke Straight Boys is that we have all of the archives at our disposal, so perhaps we have a sleuth among us who wants to go back to all his scenes and do a Zapruder like frame by frame break-down of his scenes. lol

I never considered the Germanic cross to be a symbol of white supremacy. Like so many good symbols, the Germanic Cross became used as a high medal of valour for the SS during World War II. Hence, it is now viewed with distaste. I believe the cross has become associated with white supremacy because many white supremacists are neo-Nazis!

PS The ends of the cross were broken downward to become the standard Nazi symbol. However before it became the highest military medal of honer for Germany, it was often called the Maltese Cross and was a symbol of the Order of soldier Knight priests known as the Knights Templar!

I looked up the Maltese Cross and this symbol is not it. I did find the right one though. Here's a picture of the Maltese Cross that is steeped in history of the Knights Templar.

The Maltese cross, in Italy also known as the Amalfi cross, is the cross symbol associated with the Knights Hospitaller (the Knights of Malta) and by extension with the island of Malta. The cross is eight-pointed and has the form of four "V"-shaped elements, each joining the others at its vertex, leaving the other two tips spread outward symmetrically. Its design is based on crosses used since the First Crusade.

In the mid 16th century, when the Knights were at Malta, the familiar design now known as the "Maltese Cross" became associated with the island. The first evidence for Maltese Cross on Malta appears on the 2 Tarì and 4 Tarì Copper coins of the Grand Master Jean Parisot de Valette (Grand Master 1557–1568). The 2 and 4 Tarì Copper coins are dated 1567. This provides a date for the introduction of the Maltese Cross.[1]

In the 15th century, the eight points of the four arms of the later called Maltese Cross represented the eight lands of origin, or Langues of the Knights Hospitaller: Auvergne, Provence, France, Aragon, Castille and Portugal, Italy, Germany, and England (with Scotland and Ireland).[3]

The eight points also symbolize the eight obligations or aspirations of the knights:[3]
to live in truth
to have faith
to repent one's sins
to give proof of humility
to love justice
to be merciful
to be sincere and wholehearted
to endure persecution

Both the Order of Saint John (in German, the Johanniterorden) and the Venerable Order of St John teach that the eight points of the cross represent the eight Beatitudes. The Venerable Order's main service organisation, St John Ambulance, has applied secular meanings to the points as representing the traits of a good first aider:[4]

Observant - (“that he may note the causes and signs of injury”)
Tactful - (“that he may without thoughtless questions learn the symptoms and history of the case, and secure the confidence of the patients and bystanders”)
Resourceful - (“That he may use to the best advantage whatever is at hand to prevent further damage, and to assist Nature’s efforts to repair the mischief already done”)
Dextrous - (“that he may handle a patient without causing unnecessary pain, and use appliances efficiently and neatly”)
Explicit - (“that he may give clear instructions to the patient or the bystanders how best to assist him”)
Discriminating - (“that he may decide which of several injuries presses most for treatment by himself, what can best be left for the patient or bystanders to do, and what should be left for the medical men”)
Persevering - (“that he may continue his efforts, though not at first successful.”)
Sympathetic - (“that he may give real comfort and encouragement to the suffering”)

I meant to say that the Maltese Cross above is not the same symbol as the one Ashton has. For some reason I could not edit the post to clarify that.

On the Anti-Defamation League website I found the symbol Ashton has. It's the Iron Cross. One of the highest medals given out by the Nazis. Interestingly enough the same article points out that its use (in the U.S. at least) has proliferated to the point that many use it without being aware of its racist or Nazi connotations. So it's open to interpretation whether Ashton wore it as a hate symbol or merely to denote his love of skateboarding.

I tend to think the latter. Why? Because David himself is Jewish. I'm sure David immediately recognized it as a hate symbol of neo-Nazis and was displeased with the tattoo. It's also obvious that he would never have hired or worked with an anti-Semite. Given that he and Eddie both became close to Ashton, it's much more likely that Ashton is not a hater.

The Iron Cross is a famous German military medal dating back to the 19th century. During the 1930s, the Nazi regime in Germany superimposed a swastika on the traditional medal, turning it into a Nazi symbol. After World War II, the medal was discontinued but neo-Nazis and other white supremacists subsequently adopted it as a hate symbol and it has been a commonly-used hate symbol ever since.

In the United States, however, the Iron Cross also became one of several Nazi-era symbols adopted by outlaw bikers, more to signify rebellion or to shock than for any white supremacist ideology. By the early 2000s, this other use of the Iron Cross had spread from bikers to skateboarders and many extreme sports enthusiasts and became part of the logo of several different companies producing equipment and clothing for this audience. Consequently, the use of the Iron Cross in a non-racist context has greatly proliferated in the United States, to the point that an Iron Cross in isolation (i.e., without a superimposed swastika or without other accompanying hate symbols) cannot be determined to be a hate symbol. Care must therefore be used to correctly interpret this symbol in whatever context in which it may be found.

So there's our answer as some of us suspected. No attempt at censorship. lol
