I think this was a brilliant winding up of a really tumultuous interval we had on the forum a year ago, more or less. There had been some banter about two members, hotties, possibly appearing on the futon as brokies, and several of us were trying to get them to do it. One guy seemed quite tempted since he had a model he desired above all else, but decided that privacy, given the fact that he was going to a new job, was more important. Then the forum's strangest interlude to date was put in motion: by the advent of casper, a wise-beyond his years, non-grammatical Okie boy, victim of unnerving mood swings, infatuations, angers, accusations, enthusiasms and remorse...mixed in with startlingly apposite bits of folk wisdom and surprising dust bowl sagesse. Management, when he appeared to want to do a shoot, was cautiously interested. What no one knew for sure, but I suspected, was that this guy was actually well into his 40's, playing a role for his, and our, entertainment. If this were true his dilemma resided in the prospect of traveling down to D&E to do a shoot. His avatar looked like Dylan, from the side, at a distance, in a verdant ditch with pines. You could see someone but you weren't sure what the someone was. The photo looked pre-digital, so it could have been of this guy 25 years earlier.

I mention Dylan because I think David has very cannily used the whole casper debacle to creative advantage in this shoot. David knows what the name of the site is, and makes explicit the policy of having gays boys perform only under certain circumstances. And in those cases he often says he doesn't pay them since their reward is being on the futon with a straightie. It's no big jump, as others have noticed, from not getting any money, to having to pay some of their own, all just for the enjoyment (which the straighties are felt not to get).

In the case of casper, who had to think of a way to prevent a trip to Florida from turning into reality since graying chest hair is not a Broke Straight Boys requirement, things got ugly on the forum. Casper threw tantrums and suddenly became disappointed, and then betrayed, by management. He went further and accused the people at D&E of lying to him, which was not true. All in order to make his withdrawal from the plan seem reasonable and right.

As I say, Dylan is in a way the happier resolution of all that. It's not the same premise of course, not exactly, but it's close enough to be fun in an ironic way. I watched D and Kev last night, and want to watch the three way tonight. It gives credence to the idea that Broke Straight Boys is always flying by the seat of its pants and is able to improvise according to circumstances. Probably not altogether true since we've seen the planning calendar in Dave's office, but it makes a nice vibe.

I know each person has his opinion, but mine is this: it's fantasy. It's not real. It's just a story line, perhaps not even a good one.

ok, I should actually state I'm fairly certain the money storyline was just that; a storyline... I don't think the owner of Broke Straight Boys would go that far.

However, I stand by my opinion in that it's a storyline that did nothing for me, instead, made me grimace in distaste the entire video.

I really hope it's not repeated... I wouldn't mind seeing Dylan again... just not in that storyline.

The stalking remark is because, as much as the majority knows that Broke Straight Boys is fantasy, there will always be a fruitcake or two who not only don't understand the difference between reality and fantasy, they have no hesitation into turning their fantasy into their reality and wont stop at anything to get it.
