Hi, i don't know if we can talk about this, but since Sha mentioned it in the "Antonio Drake Good-Bye" video I hope it is fair game: What determines whether a guy moves over from College Dudes to Broke Straight Boys? Like I know Sergio started on College Dudes then moved over, so why him versus say Darius Suave who was also very popular on College Dudes?

Is it about the guy's sexuality?

Also, why is there a difference in the performance? Like it may be me but Sergio seemed to be more into it on College Dudes versus Broke Straight Boys, so is there a performativity aspect to it? (this may be a futile search for truth in porn.)

Reeseyboy, yes, you can discuss College Dudes on this Message Board. Mark owns both sites.

Membership Site Chat, Comments & Suggestions

Post anything here about our sites including comments and suggestions for Broke Straight Boys, College Dudes, College Boy Physicals Boy Gusher, HSBoys and any of our other sites.

It has been mentioned in the past that management felt some models were "a better fit" for one site or another. It has also been mentioned that some but not all, of the models on College Dudes (now more than previously, in my opinion) are bi or gay, or just plain more comfortable with themselves....that appear on College Dudes. Darius Suave appeared on College Dudes quite a while ago though! If you go back to the older scenes on College Dudes, you may notice a lot of familiar names and faces. A lot of models got their start on College Dudes and are now very popular in this type of porn.

What determines the move of one model vs another is better answered by those who run the studio but, I know that there are different recruiting criteria for the models on College Dudes vs Broke Straight Boys The models that you see on College Dudes may appear on other sites where the models they pick for Broke Straight Boys tend to be (but not always) fresh new faces to the industry.

Cool. Yeah i remember Darius Suave b/c he has traveled around a few sites and is one of my all time favorite porn performers.

I suppose the shift in performance surprises me. For example Sergio just came across as much more comfortable and into it on College Dudes vs. Broke Straight Boys and I dunno why. I do feel like there is an emphasis onBSB on "S" part; a constant need to remind the watcher that the boys are str8 and not into it, so, from an intellectual analytical point I think about performativity of identity and performances to scripts for ways of being. Meaning, I am not sure how "authentic" any performance is, but what does matter, especially in this context, is that the orgasm is real.

Now, as much as the "S" is emphasized, I am noticing that lately Broke Straight Boys is challenging this by bringing in more fluid and open guys, and I for one love that.

Reeseyboy and Betu, I most certainly now understand that you guys and many other members of Broke Straight Boys care little about the performer's sexuality. I am quite the opposite and became attracted to the site as it featured straight guys having gay sex, which is my "thing", and without the "S" part as Reeseyboy calls it, I never would have joined.

I'm not a member of College Dudes and have no interest in joining, but if Sergio was more into the sex there, and acts differently performing on Broke Straight Boys, I would imagine that while there is some crossover audience, there are also hardcore members in both audiences who do care. Obviously there have been more and more models on Broke Straight Boys lately who've appeared on other sites, and who it would be difficult to classify as "straight", but my belief is that it is because of necessity and not a change in direction for the site, as it is harder and harder to find first timers who fit into the traditional Broke Straight Boys profile, but as Betu says, "the models they pick for Broke Straight Boys tend to be (but not always) fresh new faces to the industry".

My belief is that Mark and Sha and other recruiters and producers understand that the site does have a hardcore audience with a fetish for guys who we can believe are straight, and as long as they keep searching and occasionally finding guys who fit into this classification, I appreciate their efforts. I am so pleased that masculine beautiful guys like Ayden, Ronan Kennedy and Abram have thus far only appeared here which works for my fetish and fantasies. To me the "S" factor is the most important to my personal tastes.

I would disagree; I would say I care but for different reasons. Truthfully I get little joy in seeing someone do things they hate, which is why I hate videos or BTS videos where the model talks about how horrible the sex act is and how every move and breath they do is fake. I prefer sex to be joyous so in that sense I care about the model's sexuality in that I want him to experience joy. Now the other way I care is by an investment in the idea of performativity. There are scripts (by this I mean ideas) that the models possibly perform to, for example some models play up the straight aspect and how much they hate it, only later to go to different sites where they play another script and talk about how much they love the sex. I am not saying one is more authentic than the other, they are both scripts, but I do "care about" or find interesting the performativity of it all. Also I care in the sense that in some ways, and I believe this would be the case if we lived in a different type of culture, these guys would sexual avant gardes, breathing testimonies of the fluidity and complicated nature of sexuality, but b/c of the culture we live in, they insist, even for themselves, upon a flat liner understanding of sexuality.

Good questions Reeseyboy,

There have been maybe 10 models or less in recent memory who have been switched over from Broke Straight Boys to College Dudes or vice versa. However, during the Broke Straight Boys-1 era there are a ton of models who started at Broke Straight Boys and eventually did work over at College Dudes too. A general rule of thumb has been that if a model is switched from Broke Straight Boys to College Dudes, the likely assumption is that he is usually bi or gay and thought to be a better fit over there. That rule of thumb tends to stand pretty firm.

Likewise if we see a model brought from College Dudes to Broke Straight Boys, the logical conclusion is that the model is straight or at least straight-er and presumed to be a better fit over here. But that is not always the case. Sometimes we do get a bi or gay model brought over from College Dudes to Broke Straight Boys It doesn't happen very often though. But at least if they do go to the trouble of switching a bi or gay model from College Dudes to Broke Straight Boys, he is someone who is very attractive as well as straight looking and acting.

As others have pointed out, Sergio is a really good example of a straight or at least straight-er model who is switched from College Dudes to Broke Straight Boys :)

Good and Interesting perspective Tampa but, do any of us really know for sure? As fans, we can only speculate. We've seen models like, Jaden and Tristan, Trey, Sam, Kyle and Liam go from Broke Straight Boys to College Dudes. Sergio and Ian come from College Dudes being the most recent. What you may not have realized was, models like Kodi, Duncan and Carson and CJ, have "performed" with in these studios prior to or during, being featured on Broke Straight Boys as well. :reporter:While "performativity" isn't a word I am familiar with, I do wonder if it's decided based on the models' ability to perform in the roles more effectively depending on the "motif" of the site? As far as rule of thumb? I don't think there really is one." Let's try it and see if it works?" If it does fine, if not....

*the names underlined were purposeful. Both models represent the direct opposite of "the rule of thumb".

I look at Broke Straight Boys as a quasi/fantasy site, and try not to delve too deeply into the psyche of the performers. It's difficult for me to discuss what excites me sexually on an intellectual level, as it is a visceral gut reaction that tells me that a very hot guy has entered the room. My preference is the fantasy/reality scenario of a hot young straight kid being sucked off or fucking the ass of a cute young gay or bi boy. And when the hot, young, straight appearing guy begins to get immense pleasure from being sucked on or from fucking and he begins thrusting harder, and moaning under his breath and perhaps uttering curses as it feels so fucking good, then it becomes a classic Broke Straight Boys scene in my eyes..

I know I'm in a minority, (at least on this forum) in my desires, but if I can get one or two scenes like that a month, I will shut up about the more passionate scenes that many of you guys enjoy, and wait quietly for "my kind" of scenes".

Funny Thing.. In all my few years as a member of Broke Straight Boys The only model (That was active) I felt was really straight was Sergio.
Beautiful Man.
Oh there are a few others. But really felt he was doing it for the work and money. But Lord knows. I have been wrong before.
Many times.....

Sorry, "performativity" is a concept about identity, and I follow lines of thought about it that are best attributed to Judith Butler. It is the academic nerd in me coming out; I can't really turn it off. Bringing the brain to porn.

A rough definition: "Performativity is a term for the capacity of speech and communication not simply to communicate but rather to act or consummate an action, or to construct and perform an identity. …Other uses of the notion of performativity in the social sciences include the daily behavior (or performance) of individuals based on social norms or habits."

Jimmy is pretty straight; he is holding on to it very tightly.

Sure you will, you don't have 9,374 posts because you "kept quiet" only posting on the scenes you liked!!! lol

You were way too nice to me yesterday, throwing complements my way. Now you are back to the Peter I am used to. Welcome back Peterh. lol!

OPPS.. I forgot Abram .He seems pretty straight too me..Now....
I've said many times, (I know Peter, cut and paste lol) that any guy who returns to Broke Straight Boys for more than a solo is not 100% straight, but I agree with the names that you mentioned Johnny.

Jimmy, Ayden, Ronan Kennedy, Abram and James, (and Sergio too, I suppose), all come across with that straight vibe, and a straight vibe is the best that I can ask for on a site of this nature!

It's kind of like going to your favorite restaurant and ordering a meal you really enjoy. They put a garnish on it that you don't care for though! You make a decision,... "do I disregard the entire dish? Or, do I just pick out the garnish since it doesn't actually change or alter the taste.....?" Why waste an entire meal because of a few elements you can take out and still enjoy?"
