I would never post anything that a model did not want me too. I have done this long enough and certainly care enough about our guys to do otherwise. The reality is that without being there, you only know your best guess of what goes on. Cameron gave it his all and simply is not in a place where he feels comfortable in this business. All I can say is that Cameron didn't feel at all slighted by this interview and I made a decision at that time that I felt was needed.
Thank you Sha for that many pieces of the puzzle. I had not watched the scene yet prior to reading the thread. I had no idea of all the controversy going on.
Even after having watched the full scene I'm still at a loss in processing everything because we members will never have a full picture of what was going on here. Mainly I guess trying to get inside Cameron's head to understand his fears, concerns and issues. At first glance my first inclination was to feel very embarrassed for Cameron to be put in the hot seat like that on camera. I was practically squirming in my own seat. It was painful to watch.
It's odd that so many of us here in the forum seem to feel the same way about Cameron. I myself am predisposed to really liking him and really wanting him to succeed here. I rarely feel that way about other new models who come along. Maybe it's partly because he has a D&E/
Broke Straight Boys/BluMedia pedigree already and he's a throwback to some good times here on the site in the past. Maybe it's because I am (or was) counting on him to show the powers that be at
Broke Straight Boys that an occasional older model beyond the traditional 18-24 year old age group can find a welcoming and appreciative audience here. I only add the past tense as a possibility because I don't know how literally or with how much finality to take Sha's comment about Cameron not being comfortable in the business. He may already be gone. Or he could surprise us later by making a surprising comeback like
Spencer Todd once did.
It would be easier for me as a fan of the site if I didn't feel as invested in Cameron's success here as I do or did. If a new model came along and just couldn't cut it, usually I would hardly bat an eye if he just left the site or got out of the business altogether. But Cameron I really
do like, even if I can't fully explain why.
Like many of the rest of you in here I vacillated between being upset with Sha for cornering a scared Cameron on camera like this in such a public way...and wishing it had been done in private... Yet also quietly cheering inside that a...(please pardon a religious metaphor in reference to a porn scene)...a real Come to Jesus meeting was taking place between management and a model who really needed some constructive criticism. There have been a few models over the years who got away with phoning in scenes left and right. And I always wondered things to myself like, "How can they let this go on? He needs some serious talking to about his future on the site. Why don't they talk to him and lay it on the line? Can't they (management) see that he's just phoning it in, going through the motions, and raking in
our cash?!"
There are two very well known models in my mind who fit that bill perfectly. And it frustrated me to no end when I would see no improvement from one scene to another, to another. So now we have proof certain that Sha is not averse to putting on the big boy pants as a boss. Instead of watching a scene fizzle in front of his eyes and either pretending not to notice, going into denial, or just glossing over it with congratulations to both models for a job well done at the close...like Clay did and yes, even David did sometimes...we now know that Sha is willing to speak up and call a spade a spade.
As a paying member that's what I want to know is happening. (Whether there is audio proof on camera or not.) As a paying member of the site I want to know that there is a grownup in charge who cares about maintaining (or at least
trying to maintain) a consistent level of quality. And one who is also showing himself to be a good steward of our subscription money. (To make sure it is not being wasted frivolously.) One who is all about showing empathy, compassion and patience to a model who might temporarily be struggling... Willing to offer advice, constructive criticism, encouragement, etc... But also not afraid to have the difficult but necessary conversations sometimes if things are going awry.
