I made my last post while you were making yours, so I apologize for "covering your post", as our dear friend Johnny would have called it.Hey Folks,
I don't want Mikey's and my detour in the posts above to detract from the primary point I was trying to make previously. That being that I really respect and appreciate the fact that I/we have confirmation that if a model is struggling or not performing up to standard (albeit with the understanding that the term "standard" can be highly subjective) that something will be noticed, worked on and discussed when it is observed. That doesn't mean nitpicking every minute aspect of a model's performance, giving him no praise or encouragement for what he's doing well...and crushing his self esteem. Sometimes letting a model learn the ropes naturally and grow into the role, without a lot of feedback and prodding, can work out just fine.
I know I kept referring to Sha personally in praising him for speaking up when he saw something not going well. I don't mean by that that Sha is the only one doing so. And Bryce is not for example. I figure that if Sha is doing it, then Bryce probably is also. I'm assuming that Sha is giving us but one example of the current corporate culture. Whereby if an obvious issue arises that it will be addressed fairly quickly by management and not just ignored and swept under the rug. I applaud that for all the many reasons I've already stated.
Good people in here can differ on the merits or appropriateness of having this conversation recorded on camera. That's fine. We can go round and round on that like a dog chasing its own tail. My main point though was that regardless of where we fell on that one aspect of what unfolded...that in my opinion, it was a conversation that was definitely worth having. I'm very very happy to know that there are grownups in charge and the people upstairs are not afraid or unwilling to have those conversations.
So staying on point to this thread, I will say again that while Cameron may have needed some guidance and advise from the "grownups" in the room, and while Cameron may have been okay with Sha's "discussion" with him at the end of the scene, it is still my opinion that it would have been much more appropriate for that employer-employee discussion to have been held behind closed doors. I do love for more and more pre and post scene interviews to be included in the scenes, but my personal feeling is that particular one was an inappropriate discussion for the fans to have witnessed.
