BSB 1 - Producer David Adamson gives an update on the models from BSB's early days!

I was just enamored of the futon days. I wonder how long a futon lasted for them? I liked the rawness and how it seemed naughtier and dirtier. I wonder if they ever did find guys by walking down the street or if all that was just for show?

I do enjoy seeing the boys in bed, in a nice room, the quality is so much nicer now and it's still pretty thrilling watching straight guys have gay sex. It would be cool if there was a Broke Straight Boys reunion weekend but I can imagine that would be really difficult to arrange. It was David and his boys and the futon that attracted me to Broke Straight Boys twelve years ago. Yes, the technology has way improved and many of the newer models have better bodies and are much more skilled at performing sexually on camera. But given a choice I would gladly go back to the "raw" believably straight guys of years ago to the new school of slick professional performers. To answer your question about the Futon. The original Futon got damaged when (I forgot which Broke Straight Boys scene I filmed) we did a 3some scene and the boys were going at it so hard and the fact we had 3 bodies on the Futon, the Futon actually got damaged so we had to purchase another Futon. Luckily the Futon was a standard style so we had no problems matching up the old Futon with a new one and nobody new the difference and we used the 2nd Futon for many scenes for Broke Straight Boys The current Futon was used on most of the popular scenes that showcased Tyler, Dieasal, CJ, Shane Tank, the other Shane and many other's that became popular on Broke Straight Boys of that era. We still have the Futon and we used it for Broke Straight Boys's sister site called Boy Gusher.com but as of lately, the Futon is retired.

Yes. I remember those days with great fondness also. I think back also to when Broke Straight Boys would occasionally auction off certain models' underwear, with the proceeds being donated to the local South Florida animal shelters. Taking care of abandoned, mistreated or sick animals is a favorite charity and cause for David and Eddie.

I agree with many of Mikey's points above about the thrill of the adventure with the more straight-ish models of yesteryear on the site. It was a fun gimmick of sorts with the Broke Straight Boys 1.0 leaving the audience somewhat in the dark as to how far each supposedly straight model would be willing to go in each scene. There was a greater mystery and an enjoyable tension and anticipation with the opening of each scene. I try not cast any "blame" though on any of the staff today hiring models who are either completely gay, have already done work on other gay sites, or who are more on the gay side of the bisexual spectrum to begin with.

Society has changed so much in the last 14 years since the site started up. The well of truly straight guys who are willing to do gay for pay, is all but dry. Once in a while Broke Straight Boys gets lucky and finds a few precious drops left over from the morning dew. But it's indeed a rare occurrence. There was a time when a desperate straight guy who was really down on his luck, could hope to do several well paying videos on what he thought was an obscure, private subscription only, gay website that none of his family, friends, acquaintances and coworkers would ever find out about. How quaint and naïve such a thought would be today! Now that expectation and hope of complete anonymity from any online porn work following these guys back into their real Clark Kent daily lives, is completely unrealistic. So it's a much tougher decision in today's digital age for any truly straight guys to decide to take the plunge into gay porn. Even if they are really desperate for money and they find out that gay porn pays much better than straight porn.

So now we have what the hiring pool is nowadays for those willing to do gay porn. Which is the braver guys who are gay and (mostly) already out to their families, friends and coworkers. So as a Broke Straight Boys purist who loved the original premise of the site of having the straightest models performing gay sex for money and watching their progressions and the pushing of their personal boundaries, I do totally understand why we won't ever get back fully to that original paradigm of the site. Once in a while we get lucky with some straight or at least straight-er models like Ethan Steel and Cody Smith. Just to name a couple of the most recent ones. haha And I'm happy for that.

You are so right, the apps and chat sites have really broadened a lot of guys outlook. I watched the second one, and it was very informative and good, albeit sad re the number of models who have passed on. I had no idea that Phoenix became Sebastian Young, who had great success with major studios. Interesting point Frontier. As far as I know good looking young males, (and females) have always been the object of older men's attraction. And older men usually have the means to obtain the younger guys. Is it taking advantage? I guess it is in a way, but also if the guy is of legal age, he is also getting something out of the transaction as well.

I'm reminded of the great Bob Seger song "Night Moves", where he sings,

As long as we all get our share, I think it is a fair transaction.

I’m convinced some guys use the excuse they are getting paid for it so they can self justify doing gay sex and trying to remain straight in their own mind.
