Apparently the UK is full of paedos

I'm quite surprised that no one has started a thread about the alleged paedos in the uk. First of all it started with Jimmy Saville who died last year. As soon as a tv programme announced what people had been thinking for years all the alleged victims came out of the closet. Now there are over 400 "victims" wanting to file cases against a dead man. For fucks sake get real...

And of course this has caused a sunami and heads have rolled at the BBC including the DG who resigned last week. Since the Saville story erupted there have been quite a few celebrities taken in for questioning including another dead man but they have not yet dug him up.

This country is going fucking nuts and it's just another case where the government is hiding the real issues of the country behind this facade. Now of course I bet that all the hundreds of thousands of Father Christmas will have to be checked out or maybe in hindsight, as per the Saville case, people who are on the dole will make up more stories and try and claim being fingered by Santa. Jeez I didn't mind lol

Child abuse affects different people in different ways and what's closure for some is raw exposure to others, so I'm not sure what good in depth investigations or royal commissions do for victims, but its certainly a step in the right direction as far as prevention in the future goes.

As I've stated before regarding child sexual abuse cases from the Jerry Sandusky case to the Catholic church clergy abuse stories, to stories in the news of men being busted for viewing or exchanging child pornography, I thank God that I have no sexual attraction to little boys. But it seems that a certain percentage of men going all the way back in history have this type of sexual attraction and while I would imagine that most control their desires to just fantasizing, some actually have sex with children.

Being a parent is difficult enough, but if I had a child I would be very wary of any man who wanted to get close to my child. It is a very sad situation of the human condition, but I don't see it ever ending. Indeed it is a perplexing problem.

Indeed Robert, Gary Glitter is an example of what I just mentioned, and pedophiles can be anyone from a rock star, to a lawyer, to a politician, to a clergyman, married men, single men, etc. etc. I don't believe that it is any particular profile to isolate a potential sexual predator of children, as it can occur anywhere.

The only thing I am wary about is judging people without a trial. An alleged witness last week accused an ex conservative MP of abusing him, only to retract it days later. But the damage had been done and mud sticks. Some people are so evil that they will do anything to get money out of people, even if it means accusing them of child abuse etc. Unfortunately they are now in a majority so it means that the real cases are hard to prove.

I have said this for years. While I strongly support putting away the sick people who do this, I do hate that it has turned into a witch hunt. Some speak of the Salem Witch Trials as if we have moved past that. We have not. It just takes on a new form, that's all. We may not be looking for witches like they did, but people are being tried and convicted in the media long before there is an actual trial. How can anyone get a fair trial with this kind of publicity? Why go after a dead man as Jon pointed out? There could be a few reasons, but in my opinion, it's all about the money or attention they can get. The media only fuels the fire and each time something like this happens, we return to Salem and do it all over again.

Ron, with all due respect, this thread is not about the priests - I did start one a while back about the Melbourne priests. Phantom was replying to my post about the current uk situation which differs to yours.

Now back on track - phew... Yes Phantom there is a witch hunt but already the heads of organisations such as the bbc have been burned because their staff did not research allegations properly and the false allegations by an alleged victim proved his downfall - and subsequently quite a lot of heads of departments too.

Whilst there is compelling evidence about the likes of Saville there is no 100pc proof. DNA evidence cannot be given and now it is all word and mouth and a lot of the words are coming from greedy jobless people who are in it for the money. There are now over 400 reports of alleged abuse by Jimmy Saville but none of "abused" decided to report it after it had happend, when things could have been done and evidence such as DNA could have been admitted.

I do not condone abuse of any kind whether it is sexual, child, violence, homophobia, racial etc etc. However, I also don't like to see innocent peoples lives being tarnished by lies from greedy people. As I said in an earlier post, it doesn't matter how much you prove your innocense, once accused of such things your reputation is tarnished for life.

Gary Glitter is a difference case because he has already served sentence in the far east but again coincidence is not admissable in court.

It's a pity that those people who were actually abused are suffering because of the greed of a lot of others.

This thread is about the current uk crisis, if you want to bring up the australian one then bump up the one I did some weeks ago. There are things within this uk one that has nothing to do with religion, which is a completely separate issue.

We are aware of child abuse being international it happens all over the world and we know that but this thread is not about the years of pedophilia going around and where it is about how the media portrays everything and anything we all know now that Jimmy Savvile was a pedophile but with over 400 alleged cases you have to think why did none say anything sooner, some of these must be fake not all no no and I believe that most are true but of course in any big media story a few people will lie to sell a story to the press
