A better fit for Jayden!

No fuss Jon. I follow enough threads to know that, Mark has said in the past, it's not always easy to tell where a model "fits" in the realm at first. There have been several models throughout the history of this site since and before I've joined, who were obviously "better fits" for one site more than the other. There have been many models who started out on College Dudes and have switched over to Broke Straight Boys and vice versa. There have also been many threads about models who people felt "did not portray the Broke STRAIGHT Boy" motif and received negative comments too! My thread was merely saying, Jaden was, or is.. now on the site that better show cases his abilities to perform scenes with another guy! This to me, is a good thing! I agree, Labels are for clothes too, but viewers don't always see things the same way, sometimes.
I most certainly agree that "labels are for clothes, not people", when we are dealing with real people in the real world. From this forum alone, I know many guys here who were formerly married to women, many with children. I also know of two men who had or still have long term relationships with men who identify themselves as "straight", even though they are in committed relationships with another man, so obviously there is no "label" that clearly identifies people as gay or straight.

However in the context of this site, whose name is Broke Straight Boys, the "label" does apply. I joined because of my fetish for seeing believably straight guys performing gay sex acts. And so in this context, I feel that the "label" of straight does matter. It may not be real, but I am buying into a fantasy, and to my sensibilities it is necessary for the site to be as consistent with that concept as possible.

You said that very well Mikey. Very few of us in here get any enjoyment in calling out on a model on his (perceived) sexuality. In most cases we would prefer to let other members enjoy a favorite model without possibly ruining their fantasy and overall enjoyment of the site. In some cases the zeal to out models and discuss their sexuality can come across as borderline homophobic. And from as mostly gay audience no less. Gay and bi guys need luvin' too. haha

Having said all that, many of us would not be here but for the fact that the premise/fantasy of the site promises straight (or at least straight acting and looking) guys to perform gay sex for adult entertainment. It's a very important aspect of the site's success. It distinguishes the site from many other generic gay porn studios out there that may have only an occasional straight gay for pay model. Ergo some newly hired models will sometimes appear to be a better fit for sites like College Dudes, regardless of how straight they may truly be.

mikeyank and tampa That is exactly what I was trying to relay in my original posting on this thread. Let each member perceive the models/scenes as they wish.

My mind is fuzzy on the following as far as details go. Does anyone remember the expression, "We're Queer, we're here, get used to it." I don't remember the organization where this quote started but I do remember a discussion on one of their forums where they were discussing a subject similar to what we are doing now. I remember one of the respondents stating, "I presume everyone's gay until proven otherwise."

In my opinion and while I am a member of Broke Straight Boys I will presume everyone's straight until proven otherwise.

Not sure what to believe re the Jayden story. He appears on Broke Straight Boys and says he is straight but has bb sex flip flop. Then he appears on College Dudes and says he is at least bi but knows that there are of 5 gays in his south dakota town, which of course is quite homophobic. So how does he know there are 5 gays unless he's been on Grindr or something.

This is a classic case of a bi or gay guy appearing on Broke Straight Boys because he is simply broke and not a Broke Straight Boys I am not saying it is wrong otherwise we would not have had Damien Kyle, Paul and Jason. Just don't believe in what comes out of the mouths of babes.

Agreed 100%.
I disagree. "Homophobe definition, a person who fears or hates homosexuals and homosexuality." When someone on the forum "calls out" a model when their "gaydar" not only goes off, but is sending loud bells and whistles, I believe we have the right to question if the model is being truthful. That to me is way different than the activity of a homophobe. We are all either gay, or very interested in gay sex, so this is more like a call for truth in advertising, to me.

What makes this thread such a cluster-fuck of views is that we really don't know how the hiring process goes. Does a guy apply to Blumedia in general or does he specify a site? If the same people interview the model applicant, do they ask him if he is gay, straight, or bi-? Do they let the model choose which site if he is bi-? Is it an ironclad rule that only straight and perhaps bi- buys go to Broke Straight Boys and only gay or bi- guys go to cdudes?

Take for instance the subject of this thread, Jayden. During his interview before his solo scene, my -dar went off the more he spoke and became more animated. But in this day and age when straight guys, so called metrosexuals, don't try to butch it up, I thought maybe he is straight. Then the more he kept on trying to reinforce his straight bona fides in later scenes, the more I felt he doth protest too much. To use my friend mikey's phrase, to me he was not "believably" straight. Having said all that, I didn't care if he were on Broke Straight Boys or not because he wasn't my type anyway, so he wasn't going to get my nuts tingling. Nor would he if I were to watch a scene of his on cdudes. If he is happier on cdudes and that is reflected in better performances by him, then I'm happy for him and happy for those who will enjoy him on cdudes.

For me the most pertinent question is: did he ask to go over to cdudes or was that a management request?

Well, going "straight to the horse's mouth," here is the application information for Broke Straight Boys; I found it at the bottom of the Homepage:
http://blumediastudios.com/moreinfo.html

As far as Jaden goes, Johnny says in the pre-sex interview that he "sat down and had a talk with Jaden. Coming from a shit town in South Dakota, moving to the big city has rubbed of on you, in a good way." Jaden agrees and says that he now considers himself bi, "why have just vanilla ice cream when you can have chocolate too."

As you know Stowe, I have been here FOREVER, so my impression is that they are told which site to be on, and there are a handful who've left Broke Straight Boys for College Dudes. The example I remember is Jack, who was physically very much my kind of guy, blonde, toned, young looking, and I was disappointed that he left.

It does make sense to me for them to move a model from Broke Straight Boys to College Dudes if he doesn't give off a straight vibe, but I question why they moved a few from College Dudes to here? I was very surprised to learn that Rocco from the early days of BSB2 had been on College Dudes under another name with short hair. He really made me think he was a newbie to gay sex on Broke Straight Boys

It would be interesting if Mark or Johnny Robins would give us some insight as to how it all really works, Stowe.

That is fascinating Beth. I never read that before. It does answer several questions that I've had, such as the 18-26 age range. And these parts really interested me.

Types of Work

All filming takes place in a relaxed and laid back studio environment. Most models are hired to perform in a solo masturbation scene. Depending on a model's interest and ability, we offer male-male sex scenes. Models are never asked to do something they are not interested in doing. All models need to be comfortable getting and maintaining an erection around other performers and/or studio staff. Models interested in doing a male-male scene need to be comfortable with mutual touching. Whenever a model works with another performer, both models are required to be current on their medical testing.

(This explains to me why some models only do a solo, even if they've been flown into Denver. We did see "Desperate Mike", who quit midway through his first boy on boy scene.)

Your Compensation

Compensation is a topic that is discussed after candidate profiles are reviewed and selected, the model completes a webcam interview, and the candidate is chosen for further consideration. What the model is willing to do in a scene is a factor in compensation. Performers are expected to complete the shoot to be paid.

So the old Davidism of getting paid more to do more is apparently true.
Thanks Beth for teaching this old horse a new trick by reading this page.

I found this interesting also. It's listed under FAQ's on the model app page.

*******************************************************************************

•What types of models are you looking for

We are looking for straight, bisexual, curious men between the ages of 18-50. While the largest number of opportunities exist for models under 26, we have opportunities for men in a range of ages. We will usually do a solo shoot for everyone the first time and then if you are interested we might ask you if you want to do a duo with another man.

•How much will I get paid?

We will discuss all this with you before we arrange a shoot. Some of our best models make up to 50K per year.

•Where will this shoot take place?

We film in our studio which is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida or Colorado. We will provide you with transportation to and from our studio and we provide you with housing and food while your filming with our studio.

•How do you decide on models?

We decide on models by your application, your photos, and what type of models we are looking for at the time. Even if there is not a present modeling opportuity, we might contact you in the future.

•Who will be there at the shoot?

Most of the time it will just be the model(s) and one or two photographers.

•Do you work with straight guys?

Yes we work with a lot of straight guys. A lot of our models are straight even though our entertainment product is targeted to a gay audience. All that matters to us is that you're comfortable doing what the shoot requires, and we'll discuss in advance what you're willing to do and what we need, so there are no surprises.

•I'm over 26 and want to model with you

Great. Although the largest number of opportunities are for models between the ages of 18-26, we have opportunities for men in a range of ages.

•What if I am nervous?

If you're considering doing work for us, but are a little unsure if you can do it, you're like about 99.9% of the men that have worked with us. Since almost all of our models are first-timers, they're usually nervous the first time. We recognize this, and so our approach to doing your shoot is very relaxed and laid back. We maintain the highest level of professionalism when working with models. We will not put you into any situation that compromises your personal space, comfort level, or safety. We never ask you to do anything you're not comfortable doing. If selected, we make sure you have a great time at your shoot, which helps us to get great pictures of you as well.

•I'm not gay

No problem. We actually work with more straight models than gay models. We will never force a model to do something they are not comfortable with and always respect everyones personal sexuality.

•I don't think I am hot enough

We are always looking for fresh faces and even if you don't think you have the look we might.[Sic] A lot of the men we work with don't even think they are hot when we think they are, it is all a matter of perspective. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Just fill out an application.

For the longest time, I always thought that Jack started on College Dudes and came to Broke Straight Boys! His last scene released on Broke Straight Boys was released on 10/06/11 but, filmed 9/11.

I cannot remember the Thread mikeyank but, Mark gave us a little bit of an explanation of "the process" when, another model presented a while back. Perhaps you can find the thread associated with this model?

Mikey, Mark did say on another thread a week or two ago on this same topic that while cdudes now is primarily gay or bi-, back in the day there was a whole bunch of straight guys on cdudes.

I was familiar with that info before I wrote what I wrote. Even though it is copyrighted at 2013 I don't know how really current it is; note it still talks about studios in Ft. Lauderdale and Denver. And as far as I know they film both sites in Denver. Moreover it doesn't give us any insight to the interview process or the sexual orientation question as to where models are "assigned".

I presume you are talking about the pre-sex interview he had with Jaden on cdudes. Moreover, if Jaden now considers himself bi-, and has been reassigned to cdudes, then one could rationally infer that only straight guys are assigned to Broke Straight Boys And that I do not believe. I do not believe that there is not one bi- guy on Broke Straight Boys I just don't.

I want to point out that we actually do unequivocally know that there's one very successful model who's openly bi on Broke Straight Boys, because he came out as such in his BSB TV audition tape. And he wasn't immediately sent to College Dudes Damien does great here, his concern about his ratings notwithstanding - he consistently puts out new scenes, he's popular with the folk on the forum, and he must be doing well on whatever method the management uses to determine whether models come back because Johnny R even came on the forum and flat out said he was welcome to come back until he didn't want to anymore.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing any threads with people saying that they "just knew" he was bi, either - nor did we have that with Jason Matthews, who's also openly something or other.

I quite shocked that Mike and Tampa have not seen that page before.. I've been aware of it for some time..

I knew about it. Myself and others even posted snippets of it in the forum when Clay first took over. Mainly I guess because they started hiring so many guys with tattoos and shaved pubes when they hadn't under David. I pointed out then that their own requirements for models specified in writing a preference for a less shaved pubic area and little to no tattoos. Unless it's listed in some other section, they seem to have taken out the portion where it said that tattoos were discouraged in the hiring process.
