Well, it's not ever easy to say goodbye, and it's sure not now:(

To quote Bette Midler - "You're one classy broad!"

Dear Lovelumps - Although a relative newbie here on the forum, I will miss your posts which I have always found cogent and interesting. Also early on in my time here, when I needed help with something and I asked for it via a thread, you were the only person who answered and you referred me to someone whom you thought could be helpful and he was. And I always appreciated you for that because while many of the older forumites talk about the forum being welcoming to new people, in this instance you were the only one who was.

I am so glad that your husband has gotten a job befitting his skill set. Changes attendant on a new job can be difficult - I've live through several in my business career. The adjustment period will take awhile, but given how you describe the "lovelumps clan", you'll all make it through okay. Best of luck to you and your family; and hopefully at some point you will have the time to come back.

Warmest regards,

stowe1

I'm no good at saying good-byes to anyone especially to someone who shares such deep personal feelings about herself and those around her. You shared about keeping the balance with hubby, kids and yourself and how at times it is difficult, strainful but barely manageable. I salute you for what I perceive in you to be a wonderful wife and mother. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to know you through your writings and thoughts. Like yourself, I too sometimes search the Broke Straight Boys site in the wee hours of the night to unwind and fill my loneliness. I'm really surprise also that I was able to find a community of people responding to me in an unexpected humane manner. Miracles do happen even on Broke Straight Boys

I agree with you Angelone, how surprising it has been for me too, to find a community of many loving caring people, who I can share a lot of my innermost feelings with, regarding the whole baffling, confusing condition called "life".

I also read another post of your's mentioning how you also never expected to find this community on the forum of a porn site, and how God works in strange ways. Your two posts remind me of the wonderful lyrics of Paul Simon, in the great song from 1966 Sounds of Silence. The line that reminds me of your point is:

And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence.

Perhaps one could add another place that the words of the prophets are written is the Broke Straight Boys forum.

Food for thought.

Dear Mikeyank,

Ever since I saw the movie "The Graduate" with Dustin Hoffman and Ali McGraw, I was inspired by the unbelieveable beauty of the music and lyrics from Simon & Garfunkel. Just as a reminder of their supremely beautiful harmonies, here is The Sounds of Silence as only they could do it:

This version features the actual movie footage where this song was used:

Either way, I think they are fitting tribute to Lovelumps with her love of music and her role on the forum as confidant and peacemaker. She will be missed.

Sincerely

Stimpy

Laura,

Dear sweet Laura. Your time here shall remain forever legendary, although I hope you will return one day. You and Ms K, have given this forum a much needed rounding off. I suppose it is the female element that the forum needed to make it such a wonderful place to come home to. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. You are one classy lady.

Mr. Lumps is so fortunate to have you. I hope that your new life with your family will be blessed. Your kids are lucky to have such a Mom as well, though they may not know it til much later in life, as is often the case. God BLess you and your family, and know that we will be here thinking of and wishing you well, every single day.

Love ya,
Jlipps

Laura,

This is without a doubt, the hardest good bye I have posted as a member of Broke Straight Boys I wanted to beg you to stay, and congratulate you on all the positive changes that are taking you away, at the very same time.

When I think of all the harder times on the forum, that we have gotten through, by working together........And the laughs and banter we have had on the threads..........And the books we have discussed.........And the stories of our children and jobs we have shared............it makes this good bye seem so much bigger.

You have been so much fun, as well as inspirational, open, and truly kind. Your presence will be missed.

I wish you the best in all of the new experiences you will be pursuing. I am so happy that Bill changed jobs, allowing for more family time. I truly am beginning to understand the demands of a child's schedule (Cub Scouts starts tomorrow). I remember all too well the demands of school, and the thought of going back for my MBA is actually frightening. But you, will sail through all of this with a laugh, a book for your "in between" moments, and a cocktail at the end of the day.

So like Slimmie, I don't want to say good bye. I'll just hope that you make it back to us, and that when you do, all is well with you, and you only want to say hello and talk about some hot new guys.

I'm relying on you to keep me posted about any hotties I need to check out, Ms. K.

I will miss you, my dear friend. You have been so supportive and thoughtful, and I appreciate that so much! Thank you for helping me navigate my way through this place from the beginning. I learned a lot from your example. I'm sure I will need to use my negotiation skills a lot in the coming months!

Love to you , mi lady!

Thank you, Stowe! You are right about an adjustment period! Oh boy! I have confidence that all will be right with my world soon enough. And maybe I'll find myself with a little extra time on my hands;)

I was the last person who thought she'd be welcome on here. In fact, when I joined, I was reluctant to disclose my gender, fearing I'd be unwelcome. Miss Deidra figured it out almost immediately, and she and Ms K became my anchors. I love this place. It's a family. One I will miss, dearly.

Thank you for your well wishes and kind words.

Mike, when I was in elementary school, that album, Bridge Over Troubled Water, was my absolute favorite. I'd listen to it on my dad's record player over and over. I think that song, in particular, is one of the most beautiful in that collection. The Boxer is perhaps my favorite on that album.

Thank you so much, Jlipps! I didn't realize how much I needed all this encouragement! I appreciate your well wishes so much!

OK, so I just got back from having coffee with Bob, and I listened to that album on my way home. I guess I misspoke. The Sound of Silence isn't on BOTW. Guess I know what my next iTunes purchase will be.

Dear Lovelumps,

"The Sound of Silence" can be found on "The Graduate"(CK 3180) movie soundtrack and on "Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest Hits"(CK 3150) along with "Scarborough Fair", "Homeward Bound", and "El Condor Pasa" just to name a few.

Sincerely,

Stimpy

Those are some classic great songs, Laura. Simon and Garfunkle's career together was too short, but the combination of Paul Simon's brilliant songs and Art Garfunkle's haunting vocal accompaniment made for some incredible music, in fact one of my three or four all time favorite musical acts.
