Updates coming in May 2009

I have family there. It's where my grandparents settled when they moved here from Ireland with my father and his then only sister...

Oh wow, that is awesome. Not many Irish can trace their roots all the way back to Ireland or where their families settled. Many of Irish changed their names, lied, and avoided the census when they came here... I am so glad that you have a source for your roots.:biggrin:

Well, one source does say two letters were inverted so it would be a name change of sorts (but it turned out not to be true) and I strongly suspect Grandpa McSheffrey was in this country illegally...

I hear that. I was able to trace our roots back to one generation before ariving in America. The family Bible was in a flood. So, have our true likd to Ireland. The names that are not clear are the generation before the fammon and the generation that arrived. So, We are trying to use old census records and ships manifests. Our name was changed three times while in America. Ther were almost 9 changes because of the Kings English prior to coming here.

I'll ask my dad i f he has any links for researching that stuff. He's a 72 year young computer whiz and loves tracing his family...
