I like seeing the veteran models. Of course always always, Tyler, but Diesal and Logan seem to be the only veteran models you are keeping. I really don't consider Logan a veteran. He is still a newbie to me. What about Shane? I really like him, and I think most members do, too. Why not mix the veteran models with the newbies? They can train the newbies.

I quite agree with you about Logan. I still see him as a newbie. And one who still has alot of potential. With his schedule he probably will have little time for shoots until the major school holiday breaks. But time will tell.

Your right...if its in the perfect world...but some models just don't know how to act or show emotion. Believe me if I had a dime for everytime I told a model to moan or grunt or breath heavy...I wouldn't be filming...LOL. Many guys are very quiet you can hear a pin drop and some just don't give any facial expression. Shane is a favorite model of mine, he's is a very nice down to earth guy...but as time is progressing he's getting worse and Eddie and I are getting frustrated with him. No matter how much coaching we give him to get out of his shell...he is emotionless and is getting boring..remember we have several scenes of Shane in the "vault" that you guys haven't seen so since we are learning and weeding out the good from the bad...I'm having 2nd thoughts about bringing back Shane...when I can hire a new, just as hot model that shows some type of feelings when I'm filming them.

I'm a film student. This means having to work with student actors, or just students sometime. I appreciate what it takes to get them to perform and they are not naked or doing porn. Then this summer I got to work on an indie film with a cast of professional actors. The difference was amazing. They were getting paid to do a job and they did as they were told and brought something personal to their characters, as well. I fell in love with film making all over again. Then Wednesday I worked on a student film for a friend. Brought me back to reality of University Film School. There really are some people who are devoid of emotions. We did a scene where a guy had to put his arms around another guy (buddies) as they walked out of the scene. You would not believe how unnatural this simple action looked. We did the damn things over and over and Annie finally settled on one of the takes. So when I was reading all these posts it gave me an insight as to what it would be like for you. Using professionals would be easier, but not fulfulling the Broke Straight Boys premise. You have to work with amateurs and there are going to be some who have it and some who just don't and over time become rather lame. Glad to hear you and Eddie are raising the standards for newbies. If some of the veterans have to go, so be it. That's show BUSINESS. Only people who think that being in the room with naked straight boys who are having sex envy you your job. They don't kniw of understand all the your job entails. You are great at what you do. Thanks for doing it.

All that you have shared with us today David has been so enlightening. It really drives home the point that you are really trying to get the models to push their limits. Many times we may think things like, Why doesn't David ask them to at least do such and such? Or throw out critiques like, "What the scene was lacking was such and such." From what you have shared today you and Eddie are already way ahead of us on what went really well and sometimes wrong in the videos. As a good director you already have a very good idea as to how certain scenes will be received by viewers long before they are posted.

The fact that you are coaching the models to do everything from bottoming to seemingly little things like moaning, speaking, showing emotion, and making some facial expressions, is very illuminating. It really is the MODELS themselves who are holding back or refusing to give more for the camera to work with. I find it almost deliciously ironic that a straight guy will suck dick and get fucked but will refuse to grunt and moan. LOL Who knew?! haha The camera cannot embellish or add any more sizzle to a scene than the model gives it.

As I've said here in the forum Shane is way up there on my list. And I look forward to seeing what you have of him in the vault. From the first video I saw of him I sensed that he had star quality potential. But if he or any another model reaches a plateau where you realize that you are never going to get any more progression from them than what you've already gotten...then it's probably time to cut them loose and spend the money on new talent.

Since they are all individuals with different personalities all of those decisions still have to be done on a case by case basis. For instance you could have justified dropping Diesal a while back for all of the above reasons. He had gotten into a bit of a rut also. Giving oral reluctantly, receiving oral and then topping. The fact that you built a relationship of trust with him over a long period, gave him the time and opportunity to grow...it all paid off huge for all of us later on. So there's really no one size fits all policy.

You tried to be very patient with Dustin and gave him plenty of time and money. But it became obvious after a while that you were just throwing good money after bad. He had no intention of giving any more for the camera (or the fans) than he had already given many times before. So that was an easier call.

I get the sense that if you had the chance to work with all professional gay porn models, that you would be dangerous in what you could create. haha Since the niche of the site is amateurs, and straight guys at that, I guess it's your niche to be constantly reinventing the wheel with every new model who walks through the door. It's a tough job. But somebody's gotta do it. LOL

Wow..this is a great thread and I really am enjoying everyone's point of view on this subject. Not every scene will be to everyone's taste. Never will be... Not every concept for a scene turns out as well onscreen as it sounds originally in writing. From the looks of it there will be plenty more on the way that many of us will find appealing.

I certainly hope to get David's opinion on your question Randall. I would like to give my take on it and also respond to some of the other comments. I really like the concept of Broke Straight Boys having amateur straight models. If Broke Straight Boys somehow supernaturally got the straight models to do everything that the gay porn stars did, it wouldn't have nearly the appeal.

One of the reasons that Diesal's scenes were so jawdropping for me was that he really was straight from everything we had seen of his personality and his performances before. As stated earlier, take a few days off and see what all has transpired!

I guess I always look at this as positive feedback for everyone. Everyone can post their opinion and what they would like to see from David, and David can explain the processes and limitations (or, lack thereof...) in filming....(I do have to admit, it makes me laugh when David is lacking words at the end of a scene!)

So, speaking of opinions, I overall enjoyed this video. CJ was CJ, but as mentioned with Tampa and David, I thought Logan had progressed tremendously! For me, it was his attitude.
