Allright,
So by request and since I got started on the Battlestar Galactica Thread about gay story lines lets talk about some other TV shows that have gay story lines.

Shout out some different shows you know of that have had gay story lines in it and give some detail if possible.

Obvious shows are like Queer as Folk, The L Word etc.

Lets hear about some of the NON obvious shows:001_rolleyes:

So get to it folks:001_tongue:

My recollections

Being an older guy who doesn't watch much television currently, outside of sports, and some news programs, (and Larry David's "Curb Your Enthusiasm", during it's brief seasons), I can only speak of programs from the past.

The first that I can remember was the comedy Soap, which introduced Billy Crystal as gay Jody. Then I remember Dynasty had a good looking gay character named Jack or something.

And I don't know if we are counting reality shows, but back in the 70's PBS had cameras in the home of the Loud family, and son Lance Loud came out on television. This was of most interest to me, as a 19 year old at that time.

Although we did have "not out" celebrities like Liberace, Truman Capote and Paul Lynde, who would camp it up on TV, but never refer to themselves as being gay. I sometimes watch MTV while working out at the gym, and I know that MTV has reality series like The Real World that always feature gay folks, so I'm sure it is much more common today than in earlier times.

This season, "True Blood" has a lot of gay innuendo and undertones in the story lines.

My favorite gay couple right now is from a German soap opera called, Verbotene Liebe. Christina and Oliver have absolutely amazing chemistry and both are smoking hot. I don't speak German and was able to get into the show because someone amazing does subtitles for the storyline on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/user/ichglotzutube#p/c/CE1738656BCC0E20

Another German soap opera with another pretty great gay couple(though unfortunately they're split at the moment. Roman and Deniz from AllesWas Zahlt. Again, subtitled on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/user/eskimokissproject#p/c/D81A091F8F615585

I always thought the original Bat man and Robin had gay under tones.:001_rolleyes::wink:

Those are two of my favorite story lines. I watch them on youtube. The actors that play Christian and Olli have the best chemistry. I also got into the John Paul/Craig and John Paul/Kieron story line on Hollyoaks and the Max/Enric and Max/Iago story line on El Cor de la Cuitat. Also viewable subtitled on youtube.

Some of my other favorites are the Ianto/Jack story line on Torchwood. The Beecher/Keller story line on OZ. The Maxxie character on Skins. The Kevin/Scotty story line on Brothers & Sisters. The MTV show Undressed had a smorgasbord of gay characters/story lines.

How about the Beverly Hillbillies.

If that picture of Jethro in drag doesn't have gay undertones nothing does.

And what about Ms. Hathaway. Wow, I think she was first TV stereo type of a Lesbian...

I've seen some clips of Beverly Hillbillies on UK TV and loved it. Remember Ann Hathoway lol..

Hercules: The Legendary Journey

Xena the Warrior Princess

x-men, but thats not a tv show.....hmmmm what else comes to mind? six feet under was a good one with quite a bit of gayness to it. oh and roseanne is one of my favorites. the final episode ever says a lot about what goes on in a family and what goes on with them when faced with issues such as sexuality and death.

Yes it is... I would have voted for the movie 300 if we could have picked movies too...:001_tt2:

Here is the opposite end of the spectrum - TV shows with anti gay story lines:

Currently there is an American sitcom called Rules of Engagement. One of the main characters (played by a very cute Oliver Hudson) makes remarks which are constantly being called gay - as in "that's so gay" or"you're so gay". This is a running gag thruout the series. Pretty disgusting.

How about Ron Eli as Tarzan in the TV series? Am I showing my age a bit? In fairness it was in reruns by the time I got to watch it as a little tyke. Even at 5 years old he sure looked stunning wearing nothing but a loincloth. hehe My eyes were glued to the set.

I tuned in to see him every chance I got... It was definitely gay themed. I mean It was one of the few Tarzan's done without a Jane. I guess today it would be referred to as kind of chicken hawk soft porn. To think in those days I was innocent and had no clue what a chicken hawk was. I will admit I had a little bit of a crush on Boy back in those days. LOL. I even think I saw a hard on or two in his animal skin loin cloth. It was just as good as the Sears catalog underwear section in those days. LOL:wink:

Jon Cooper in Southland...though it is being done so discretely you can hardly pick up on it...

Ron Eli was unbelievably hot in his loincloth and I'm old enough to remember the original run of the show. It was must see TV for little budding homo. I didn't pick up on any gay subplot with "boy", but this little boy sure got a boner watching hot handsome Ron aka Tarzan.

When I was a bit older, I was a huge Batman fan, and there besides being attracted to Adam West & Bert Ward, I did pickup heavy homo-erotic vibes.

While on the subject of hot guys on TV in those days, The Partridge Family was another must see TV experience for me because of the totally hot young "Keith Partridge" aka David Cassidy. That boy was my hottest TV jo fantasy material. I thought he was perfect. In retrospect, he was a bit thin, but I still consider him one of the hottest TV dudes of all time.

Whew, those are some hot memories. :001_tt2:
