So over Axel

In response to Tampa's previous two posts, I stick by my premise and I repeat, "I do believe that Broke Straight Boys should have at least some guys for those of us turned on by the idea of a so called straight guy getting sucked by and fucking a gay guy." Keep in mind that membership of this site or any site are not all of one monolithic way of thinking.

I thought that Aston Taylor was very cute and I didn't mind that he was not about to bottom. His problem for me was his lack of keeping an erection.

And while you Tampa believe that models who do not perform the way you want them to are "bleeding us dry financially with mediocre scenes…", I on the other hand like straight guys who do not want to suck or get fucked, so much as with beauty, a mediocre scene is in the eye of the beholder.

And as long as you brought it up again, I sincerely believe that Jimmy was brought out of retirement on Broke Straight Boys by Mark for the TV show to play the character of the villain, and he did a great job, but it was acting, not reality. There were little scenarios that were set up to add spice to the program. The mother of his son did not just show up on set coincidentally to the fact that they were filming a TV series, as well as the other scenes that were played out, including him being "thrown out" of the house. He wasn't a resident. lol He was invited to play a part on the show. He did his scenes and went home with another paycheck signed by Mark. lol

We always have to agree to disagree on Jimmy. Yes. There is no doubt some of the storyline of the tv show was overhyped, staged or purposely played up for dramatic effect. But there were other BTS vids where Jimmy cast himself in a very unflattering light all by himself, without any prodding for ratings. Your point is taken though that he was probably not as bad of a villain as the tv show made him out to be. But he had already dug himself into a pretty deep hole with me long before the tv show. lol

I think you're misunderstanding my point when I referred to any model bleeding us dry financially. I was referring (hypothetically) to a model like Axel who might gladly accept more and more scenes...but not give us another new in the longer term for all the money, time and attention spent on him. I was saying it's not worth taking that risk.

There are plenty of models over the years who I didn't care for. But I didn't (and don't) accuse them of purposely taking our money and giving us little in return. I know some people are always going to like a model I'm not really in to. And vice versa. For the ones I don't care for...including ones who don't do everything in a scene I'd like them to...I very very rarely begrudge them being paid for their time, work and sacrifice in coming here. Even if don't watch all their scenes, I do wish them well and hope that the money is of good use to them.

Other members are paying sometimes for models I like and they don't. So it's only natural that that same process happens sometimes in reverse, and my money is used to help pay a model I don't really care for, and others really like. For the most part it evens out. lol

[This may sound at times like it is only directed at Mikeyank. That’s not my intention though. So for the rest of you, please feel free to read on and/or comment as you wish.]

I was thinking the exact same thing Mikey. Many of the same points I was making in 2011 regarding Jimmy Johnson are the same points being made (quite forcefully and succinctly) by newer members now.

I don't wish to re-ignite a disagreement with you over him (for the umpteenth time) that would leave us both in the same place as before, like dogs chasing our own tails. My feelings of disdain for JJ are already very well known in here, and have not changed at all over time. (Especially after his filming on the Broke Straight Boys-TV show.)

All this said, I think I do have something new to add as it pertains to comparisons between JJ and Axel. I think that back in 2011 that the straightest (or at least straightest acting) gay for pay models, really could get a few concessions in the American porn market. They were kind of sought after by sites as they were/are(?) seen as being the "Forbidden Fruit" of the gay world. No pun intended. lol But especially so for sites like Broke Straight Boys, where being a straight, gay for pay model was and is, considered a plus.

Nowadays though in the ever shrinking and consolidating premium porn market, where people are still willing to pay money for the higher quality porn…for (among other things) better content, better models and better picture quality…the patience level of both site subscribers and the studios themselves, are pretty much in synch on the point of wanting more immediate results from the models.

For instance I loved Diesal from the very beginning and had no problem with his work ethic and commitment because he was totally charming and charismatic on camera. I suspect though that even a great model like Diesal would not in today's market be given the time of over a year to "develop" and get into a greater comfort zone for committing himself more fully to gay sex. Of course Diesal all along would at least suck a dick and commit to his scene partners. I’m very glad Diesal was given that time. It didn’t bother me (with him in particular) that he wouldn’t bottom. But I believe people today would be clamoring for him to bottom. And much more quickly.

In today's world, a straight (or straight-er) gay for pay model cannot reasonably expect for studios to give him top dollar, plus "consideration" and permission to get away with doing only the very minimum of gay sex acts in order to put a standard scene together. The "Because I’m straight." argument just isn’t gonna fly. If you want the job and the money, you have to be wiling to do the work. Or it's a non-starter. That doesn't necessarily mean that said straight/straight-er model has to be bottoming and moaning and screaming in pleasure like a banshee in heat, in his third or fourth scene. lol But he should be willing to suck a dick and convince the audience that he is at least trying to give them a good show for their money.

If there are obvious signs (or even subtle ones) that a model is just going through the motions… Or if a model gives off the vibe that paying audience members should be grateful for the fact that such a wonderful straight model like himself is showing up for them up at all... Well that's going to go over much less well today than it would have in 2011. Why? Partly because there is decent porn out there available for free.

Of course a trademark of Broke Straight Boys is that they are willing to take a chance and give opportunities to amateur first-time models. And the audience here is aware of that for the most part, and therefore has more patience than members on sites with only seasoned professional gay models. We sometimes get some first-timer, boy-next-door kind of guys who are not experienced in front of a camera at all, nor are they always above average in looks and sexual skill…but they win us over by their personalities and their performances. We are more patient with them as they learn the ropes and even develop a range of acting skills.

I am not going to go into character assassination mode on Axel and pretend to be a mind reader or a crystal ball expert as to what would have happened had he stayed longer. Neither I, nor we, can say with any certainly how things would have played out.

But even here on an amateur reality site like Broke Straight Boys, if it looks like a model is not going to give us any more than he’s currently giving… Or if it looks like he will (or might) try to guilefully and cynically play us like a tune, and bleed us dry financially with mediocre scenes… And drag out his “straight boy evolution” for months on end…With no guarantee he will ever “evolve” and decide to suck a dick, or bottom, or try to make convincing believable connections with his onscreen partners…. After he’s taken all our money for tens of mostly lackluster scenes… haha

Well… As a family member of mine likes to say in moments of deadpan and hilarious biting sarcasm…

Ain’t nobody got time for that. LOL

Tampa24, I am in 100% agreement with you. One thing, which I want to add is that a lot of the guys from the Broke Straight Boys 2 era, tried things they didn't think they would ever fantom, with success. I watch as a lot of these guys, like Bobby who even started to enjoy the sex. These guys were self subscribe straight guys who, went on to make Broke Straight Boys the site it is today, at least in my opinion. I look at some of the straight guys who have come since then, most who may not get fucked but still willing to suck a dick. I can name at least 5, I enjoyed them. Thanks for your great points Tampa24

Thanks Pete. :)

To buttress my earlier point about spending too much money on models who are likely not to work out anyway... I'll go back to Axel here. He has 10 scenes posted, with 3 more in the can. For a total of 13. I'll go out on a limb here and say most of realized we were not going to get a satisfying return on our investment by closer to 7 scenes. Some straighter models may string along members and management alike, and hint or give hope that they will give more effort in the future. Should we have given Axel another batch of 5 to 7 scenes to see if he would do any better? Thereby bringing his scene count to the magic number of 20? A threshold number usually reserved for some of the best and most popular models in the history of the site?

I vote NO on that. haha After a certain point, when you see no progression and you realize you might be being played...it's time to stop throwing good money after bad, and cut the guy loose. I would have been just as happy to see Axel's number of scenes stop at 5 to 7. The fact that he was given 13 scenes (with such a low model rating all along) seems like a mistake and a waste of money in hindsight. But that's just me. haha

There are going to be exceptions though, like with Spencer, where giving the guy another chance after a very rough start...can pay off big time. So you can't paint every model and all their myriad circumstances, with the same brush.

In the interest of full disclosure, I realize now that one of Axel's 13 scenes includes his BTS interview. That shouldn't be counted as an actual scene. But regardless, my points remain the same. lol
