Romeo and Johnny

Jon, why not just drop this silly argument? Stowe has told us he is in his early 70's and is from Pittsburgh. You are in your mid 20's and live in England. Let's just accept that different words and terms may have meanings and connotations in different parts of the world and periods in time.

Stowe is a proud gay man who would never intentionally say anything insulting or demeaning to a fellow gay man. We have lost too many good forumites in recent times, sometimes through misunderstandings on the forum, so can we all please chill, (at least for the sake of the forum family)?

If it wasn't for the stern pride of the men in their 70's, the men in their 20's wouldn't be having this conversation. They seem to forget that it was these men that stood up, put their lives and careers on the line and paved the way for the rest of us to be out and proud and speak our minds.

Too many of the younger generation take the rights they enjoy today for granted. Try living in a time when you can go to jail for just being gay ... then judge the value of complaining about an adjective.

I'm not trying to weave my way out of anything, because there is nothing out of which I have to weave my way. Just pointing out that you, even in this post, are using Nelly as a noun as in "...you are the Nelly..." I used it as a descriptive adjective. I did not say a person is a Nelly, but that he is nelly. I know you are an engineer, but you must have been taught at least the rudiments of basic English grammar, i.e. the difference between nouns and adjectives and their respective uses.

WTF has me being an engineer got to do with English grammar. Yes you did use the N word as an adjective but an adjective is a describing word. Knowing that it can be taken in an offensive way if used in a different context, why didn't you use another word which would have been far less offensive but had the same descriptive meaning.

Sorry dude, but you're digging a bigger hole for yourself and by not simply coming out with a similar statement to what Blu wrote "if I gave offense; I did not mean to.", it just shows how much you care about members thoughts and feelings.

We all make choices in life!

I think that there is too damn much political correctness in our society today. We are all gay or gay friendly adults here speaking amongst ourselves. If Stowe chooses to use the word "nelly" to describe an effeminate gay man, what is so terrible about that? In fact when Scorpio, the former designer and moderator of this forum on Broke Straight Boys started the still very active "10 random facts about you" thread back on January 31, 2009, these were his 10 random facts.

There are many open proud respectful gay men who are sexually "not into" the more effeminate type of gay men. I find that equating a word that gay men say to other gays in a closed gay forum, with the reprehensible anti gay laws in Russia, highly offensive myself.

Dear Mikeyank,

Thanks for forwarding this early entry in Scorpio's "10 random facts" to today's discussion. I read this same statement a few years back and I was appalled at the time by the use of the word "Nelly". I do not feel unduly constricted to try to abide by some notions of PC(Political Correctness), as I value people's feelings too much. I am glad to join Jon in this issue because I understand the double-whammy effect that exists in things like "Black-on-Black violence" and I consider using this word works much in the same as "Gay-on-Gay character-assassination". I don't want to have any part of this.

I do understand that these notions of PC are not set-in-stone and these are subject to change in different settings and with different age groups. Also the usage may not have been meant to devastate another's own feelings of self-worth! My primary concern is, despite the fact that I have never to my knowledge been openly referred to as a "nelly", I still realize I do possess enough ambiguous speech patterns and mannerisms that one could readily be interpreted as unconscious feminizing traits in the way I comport myself daily. Even so, I fully consider myself to be thoroughly and completely masculine through and through and would have it no other way, if given the option.

When I was just beginning to come to terms with my homosexuality, I stupidly assumed that gay guys secretly wanted to become female. That was all concocted in my uninformed state of ignorance and utter fascination with such oddities, like that of Christine Jorgensen. I would have been totally miserable, like a fish without water, having to "Cash-in my chips" as it were to suffer the dire consequences of having my genitalia completely removed from their current if humble configuration! With me old habits die hard! My view was that it may be fine for others, BUT DEFINITELY NOT SOMETHING FOR ME!

I wanted nothing of this in my own personal life, despite that I was curiously fascinated by her experiences leading to and following surgery. I never was one to take an interest in male sports in school. It offered me very little in return other than subjugating myself to what was "expected behavior". It came with a lot of rules for each game that I had little interest in learning and very little use otherwise. In my mind I had nothing to prove through sports. I was more interested in learning things that were anything but the norm. And I paid dearly for my "Go-it-alone" approach to life as a teenager.

Sincerely,

Stimpy

Dear Jon,

Once again, I must say you are saying exactly the same thing about how one communicates with others. Why have so much imprecision in communicating with others when that can readily be avoided from the get-go! Bravo!

WTF has me being an engineer got to do with English grammar. It should be "WTF has my being an engineer..." The subject of a gerund takes the possessive case! Yes you did use the N word as an adjective but an adjective is a describing word. Knowing that it can be taken in an offensive way if used in a different context, why didn't you use another word which would have been far less offensive but had the same descriptive meaning. Congratulations, you know what an adjective is! If you took offense at the word, then it is how you perceive it because the word in and of itself is not offensive.

Sorry dude, but you're digging a bigger hole for yourself and by not simply coming out with a similar statement to what Blu wrote "if I gave offense; I did not mean to.", it just shows how much you care about members thoughts and feelings. Not gonna' happen! My use of the word nelly was not offensive, but was perceived so by a certain few for reasons of their own.

I am often amazed at what can cause a "controversy" on this forum. Speak about making a mountain out of a molehill.

I am reminded of when Jon referred to some of us older forumites as "old farts". I didn't like it, but I didn't start a "Holy war" over it. What is worse to be called, "nelly" or an "old fart"?

It takes a lot to offend me. I wish we would all let this pass, but it seems to go on and on........................

I would like to validate everyone's right to their feelings. Our thoughts and feelings come from our history and experience. BOTH sides of this discussion are correct. It is called evolution. I remember 50-60 years ago (Stonewall Days). Gays (referred to as homos) were being systematically sodomized, dragged out of establishments, beaten, knifed, even hung.. Many cops were involved with this. We had no where to turn, but to each other. Then along came Aids. Knowing our history, we need to keep up the fight. In those days, that particular N-word was used affectionately in bars while we laughed and joked. (The good old days) It was similar to present day persecution of gays in Russia. Most of us were turned out of our homes at an early age. We can easily phase out that word, No problem.
There is no reason to shut us "old farts" out. We can learn from each other. I am 100% with the younger guys' challenge to continue evolving.

Johnny and Romeo: Probably one of the best videos on site. I have finally become a "Johnny fan". It took a while.
And Romeo, unbelievable display of passion. What a nice body.
Both gentlemen worked it out. 5+

Two sizzling hot guys

You took the words right out of my mouth, tampa24. These two guys are high on my list of favorites, and I would watch them bone all day. This session was really hot since it was like they were really attracted to each other and not just for the money. I don't think Johnny could get quite so wound up if he were not lusting about Romeo's hot cock seducing his prostate, and Johnny's rocketing cum shot was the proof. Both Johnny and Romeo got a taste of that hot cum, that is the final step to when men are really into it. These guys are as straight as a string, but they are men with hot dicks first, and hallelujah for that! Two sexy lads doing the wild thing, and doing it with passion, is where it's at!! :doggystyle:

Thanks for your support. I wonder whether or not if we had a black guy on the couch that he would use another adjective but again offensive to some - n*gger. If the answer is no, then it shows that he is picking on a less aggressive group of people.

I did sense that both models seemed especially "motivated" in this scene, shall we say. lol Romeo is quickly moving up my list of favorites also. Johnny was already there but had started to slip a little bit with some lackluster performances in a few other vids. Scenes like this one remind me of all the potential he still has. :)

No I wouldn't use the n-word in the context to which you allude because it is a noun not a descriptive adjective; but most importantly I would never use it under any circumstances because it is considered by most of civilized Western society, and especially by me as perjorative and offensive. Faggot is in the same league as far as I'm concerned, but unfortunately its use is not considered perjorative and offensive by nearly enough of civilized Weatern society. And of course there is no such consensus even amongst many gays as to the word nelly.

But also if the African-American on the couch had some of the mannerisms and/or affectations usually ascribed to the female of the species, you can bet your ass I would say he is nelly!!!

I think I've just proved my point.

You might think so, and if that gives you solace, go for it!! But in the real world of logical thought, 'fraid not!!

In the words of Mrs. Garrett.............Girls, Girls, Girls!!! Stop all the arguing!!!
