Clay,
I think the way Ratings are done is not realistic. You are combining two different elements into determining a rating. One element, the voting is limited to one vote per person. PERIOD! One is based on each hit a video takes. Like someone else has mentioned, what if one person just wants to keep hitting a specific video just to get a higher rating? Is that fair? Is it the true rating of the video? Of the top 12 currently on display, 4 of them rate under 4.5, with two others at 4.5. I use 4.5 as a cut-off as that would represent a 90% which in my book is an "A". I checked the rating for every single episode produced. (I guess I was bored.) I was looking for those episodes rated 4.5 or higher, NOT COUNTING THE ONES IN THE TOP 12. Assuming I did not miss one, there were 11 episodes rated 4.5, 9 rated 4.6 and 2 rated 4.7. How can they not be in the top 12 (which would mean all of those 12 would rate 4.6 or higher)?
The solution to this is really quite simple. You should just go by each members rating of the episode. EVERY MEMBER HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH EACH AND EVERY VIDEO AND TO VOTE ON EACH AND EVERY VIDEO. One man (or women) one vote. It is logical, fair and can't be influenced by any individual(s). Keep in mind you need not be a member of the forum to vote. If you can view the site, you can vote for that video. If I'm wrong Clay, let us know.
If you feel there is a need for ratings by hits, perhaps you can have a thread or column that list the top twelve episodes by hits. Then everyone can be happy.
How do the rest of you feel about this??????
