I have complained now for quite some time that the sound quality on Broke Straight Boys sucks! Period!

It is incomprehensible to me that in 2012, there are not better ways of capturing dialogue from Clay, as much as from the models. But, you always get either one, or the other, but never both. Some of us like the interviews, and we want to hear what is said, but that has always fallen on deaf ears. And while it seems better doing the actual sex, you still miss things are that often said between the models, while engaged in sex. Why is that? Is that such a difficult problem to fix? Seriously?

While for many forumites, the utterances between the models is of little consequence, because they are strictly voyeurs at heart, some of actually do enjoy hearing the models. For myself, I an very stimulated by the sounds and utterances during sex, I am stimulated by the auditory, as well as the visual. And that has always been a bone of contention for me here at Broke Straight Boys But then, I realize I may be the only one who feels that way, and since management doesn't seem to get that, I just learned to accept it. I am too vested in Broke Straight Boys to leave it for one sole reason, cause I can't hear.

This is where BSB2.5 falls short of BSB1. In the early days you could David and the models.
 
Sorry Web Monkey but you stepped on the cat on this one; there is just no kind way to say it the audio quality here SUCKS! I worked with audio for a living for many years and it always drives me nuts when I try to listen to a video here or almost any porn site for that matter. This especially when you consider how little it would take to correct the problem. First you would need to do a bit of sound insulating in the studio meaning to get rid of all the hard surfaces; use carpet on the floor and curtains on the walls and bring in some soft furniture and stuff to either absorb or break up the bouncing sound waves. Next get a small mixer and a couple of condenser microphones. You should use maybe a small lapel microphone on the camera man so we can hear his questions and then maybe a shot gun or other type of a condenser style microphone either on a boom held just out of camera view or even hung from the ceiling above the models. Put it as close as you can get it to the action without being part of the scene. Hook the mics to the mixer with phantom power to run them then patch the mixer into the camera and you’re done.

I am not a sound expert, however, I do believe Denny has some good ideas to try. The nice thing is that the fix being suggest doesn't sound too costly or too hard to implement.
 
Absolutely 100pc correct. This is one thing that could do with vast improvement is the sound quality. Half the time you cant either here Clay or the responses by the models. But don't put the mics too close to Colin or Kodi. LOL

I also agree that the sound is not consistent and occasionally the mouth movements are out of sink, but this is not often. I prefer no music. I also miss the opportunity of hearing what the models occasionally say to each other but perhaps they intentionally lower their voices at times.
 
in my personal life i like real sound. in porn if the sound is part of the action, then it is good to hear. however, if the sound is part of playing to the camera, then no sound is better than fake sound.

This I completely agree with, I sometimes wonder if cute Kodi plays to the scene in a vocal way and if he is really this vocal in life.

For what it’s worth if Web Monkey would like any help or suggestions on possible ways to get better audio I would be more then willing to offer any help I can give. It is unfortunate that I don’t live closer to your studio or I would simply loan you some equipment to try out.
 
I don't have an issue with the sound quality.

Also, I was told when I was in college, long before I ever saw a porn, that I sounded like a porn star. I guess that meant I'm noisy! Lol. I should record myself if I ever get laid again....

Sorry Robert I guess I should have explained myself better. What I was referring to was simply the sound quality and not content. Specifically there is always a slight echo in the room which causes the sound to distort and sound muffled. It is caused by all the hard surfaces in the room and also the lack of things that break up the sound waves. They reflect back towards the microphone and collide with the sound waves going out and muffles the wave patterns making everything sound mushy. Next they normally just use the microphone on the camera which first makes the camera man sound really loud since he is next to it but the models across the room now covered up by the echoes are hardly hearable through the noise. A condenser style shotgun microphone is first off very sensitive being a condenser and second are very directional and if placed closer to the models will pick them up better and overcome the noise and echo problem. While a separate mic on the camera man allows you to hear him loud and clear. I think you would find the difference to be outstanding. I record a symphony orchestra in a huge auditorium and during the silent passages with my headphones on I can hear a pin drop and also if someone in the audience sneezes I can tell you where he was sitting.

Robert, I think what a lot of us are saying is that the audio is not consistent. This is generally in the interview solos where we like to listen to the questions AND the answers. Half the time I have a job to hear what Clay says and/or what the answer is. They should employ a boom or sound man.

rrhill, it doesn't appear so, but that's not to say it is horrible by any means, simply that it's a work in process. I don't think I have ever been satisfied with a completed project no matter how long I have spent on it and yes there are those of us who will never be completely satisfied. The product is not bad, it is good Webmonkey wants excellence.

I know that the times I have been to the consumer electronics show in Vegas where the very high end videophiles and audiophiles go to decided what next $60,000 dollar system they will buy all of the rented hotel rooms are altered to reproduce the best sound. One thing I always notices were four sponge like structures attached to each corner of the room by the ceiling. I knew the purpose. Every company did it.
 
as a voyeur, i firmly believe that good porn doesn't depend upon sound. pictures and videos. jpeg's and mp4's
as an eavesdropper, i really want the hear everything and get. sounds. mp3's
if i am expected to hear what is being said, then the microphone(s) should pick it up.
if it's porn the camera should show the cock in action. not just movement. (going in and out of whatever opening.)
i hate fake sounds from the performers or from the background recording.
i am a man of simple needs and wants.
 
Seems all fine to me. I live alone so the volume is always "way up". Like the sounds of guys going at it.
