Paul Canon Comes Clean With His Mom After Finding Him On Gay Porn Site

I think it's a great idea for bringing in new members. If their first introduction to the site is through the tv show, any marketing person worth his salt is going to do everything he can to turn the tv show fans into members of the site. What better way to do that than to promise them extra features on the official site revolving around some of their cast favorites (or even favorite villains, lol) on the show?

To that end I don't think it's a good idea to release these particular kinds of BTS vids and put them on Youtube. This one of Paul and the upcoming one of Damien I believe really should be exclusively a perk of paid membership. Like the old saying goes, "Why buy the cow when the milk is free?" lol Much like MTV does with Real World, at the end of the show you say something like:

"If you want to get more news of your favorite cast members then please join the Broke Straight Boys-TV forum at BSBTV.com and enjoy online chats with some of the models. Get their take on some of your favorite episodes. For more exclusive interviews with models on the show please join us on the official website Broke Straight Boys.com to see content unavailable on television. Adults only. Must be over 18 to join."

For some reason I'm imagining a well-spoken soft female voice for that particular announcement. lol

I think it's a fantastic idea to do something with the extra footage! Please don't let that gather dust and fade into oblivion. This BTS vid touched me in a way no others have. And for obvious reasons. I think future audiences will feel the same way. So if there is a follow-up to this vid with the extra footage later, I'm sure that will go over well also. :)

Hey! I like your wording for the end of the videos. We just may "lift" that from you, lol. (Along with a British female doing the V.O. LOL)

We only place videos on YouTube after our members have seen them first. Mark is very adamant about that. It's interesting to see that while our BTS on the site may get a few hundred/ thousand views, the BTS views on YouTube are exponentially more. Plus, it's a great way to introduce the mainstream audience to Broke Straight Boys Interesting thing I have discovered is that our female audience on YouTube is increasing which is awesome along with some other interesting statistics. People are interested in what goes on in the porn industry and we try to give them a sneak peek--more than any other studio. I think people like our YouTube page because It's "work safe" and they can view it anywhere. However, there are certain videos that are not on YouTube that are still member exclusives, We're still toying around with it and trying to find the right balance, but again, you, our members, get everything first. You deserve it! Plus, if we put something racy up, you all will get the "uncensored" version while the YouTube audience gets the PG version. Unfortunately, we have to be careful with YouTube as they are not very forgiving when it comes to adult content. Our original site was taken down a few months ago without reason. We had to rebuild it, and our audience, from scratch.

Coming soon is Damien Kyle's interview and it's an interesting one. Not to be a spoiler, but he talks at length about how working for Broke Straight Boys has changed his life. He also discusses the forums. It's good stuff. It is candid, honest, and filled with surprises. The cool thing about this site is that we are constantly improving and raising the bar. We also allow you to get to know the business side of the industry and the models. The TV show will only help illustrate how dedicated we are to producing quality content. We may fumble sometimes, but it's only because we are always evaluating what the guest desires and how we can make each scene even better than the last.
Hope that helps. And P.S,. we have tons of compelling footage that is still waiting to see the light of day. This BTS is the type of content I have been pushing for and it sets a new standard. However, this was a special edition that took a lot of work, Mark was the visionary and we simply executed what he wanted to see. Props to Sha as well! I can only hope to orchestrate BTS like this all the time, but can we do it? We'll see. I'll aim for the stars every time and hope that our guests/members enjoy them.

Nicely said. I do think YouTube will be a very nice "advertising" for the site and show. The hard work you guys put into the site does show, and I appreciate the candor.

Hey Damian! :)

I really appreciate your post. And as far as using my suggestion for the end of the tv episodes or even videos posted on Youtube, I totally give my permission to use it in whole or in part. haha With the tv show I'm sure there will already be some voiceovers by males. Maybe even you? The show is already going to be loaded with testosterone. That's a given. As you allude to, there is a large segment of the straight and bi female audience who really enjoy gay porn. I think women especially would be really drawn to the tv show just as they are drawn to many of the reality shows on tv today. So even though the point of the show (and the site itself) is that it's a wonderful sausage fest of male beauty and splendor, I think it's important to help women viewers feel very welcome and included as part of the audience. Having a few voiceovers thrown in with women's voices would help that a lot I believe.

I would hope that the show is not perceived by a majority of people to be intended strictly for a gay male audience. Hopefully it will have a straight/bi male and female audience captivated by having the veil lifted on a part of the world and the human experience that they had never given a thought to or even knew existed prior to the show.

I read this from the link that someone was so nice enough to share. First because, it was written by someone who could "identify" with a certain situation of "labels" and how they felt about them. I just thought it was nice to hear/read this perspective.

"OMG, I use to put a shirt on my head and pretend to have long hair too! This is my 2nd time watching the video and i can relate to Paul. I had a hard time to. You fit in more with the Straight crowd, but that label feels dishonest because of course you like men. Bisexuality comes with a lot of baggage and Gay doesn't fit even though everybody wants to label you that because you have same sex attraction. Just like him, I spent HOURS and hours over the course of years trying to figure myself out. You do end up committing to the bisexual label. The thing is when you're a guy and bisexual, you feel on the defensive to prove you're not gay. Not that it's offensive, but that it's something that you're not. It's like if someone is ambidextrous (use both hands) but the majority of people keep telling you you're right handed. There's nothing wrong with being right handed but you're ambidextrous. Then again, i have to be honest, if people labeled me straight, i would not get so hung up on it. I'd still feel it doesn't label me, but i wouldn't be on the defensive. You can't help but to live in a heteronormative society I guess. I don't know how old Paul is but I'm 29 and starting to get to the fuck it stage, where if someone thinks i'm gay. Well fuck it. I got to be ok with me and fuck everybody's opinion. It's easier with friends, co workers but family is difficult. Like Paul, my dad and brothers swear I'm gay and it makes for a tense strained relationship"......

Thanks for sharing this. It does seem that this person has some experiences similar to Paul's.

Yes, i think we will have a substantial audience for women. During focus testing, females really liked it and could relate. We'll see!

Whilst I love the women on the forum, one has to look at the whole Broke Straight Boys membership and judge decisions based on proportional representation.
Our TV audience will be very different than what is on the site. It doesn’t matter if you’re top dog at a law firm or you work weekends at a Wal-Mart, reality TV manages to hit just about every salary bracket, educational level, and gender. Hello, Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo beat the Republican National Convention in ratings in 2012. Of course, while reality TV appeals to all ages; it’s the type of reality TV that draws the line in the demographic sand. Younger viewers are happy to watch lifestyle reality TV shows, dishing about Kim’s latest ugly crying session or bad girls throwing drinks at each other, or straight guys who do gay porn and their antics (keep your fingers crossed). Older adults seem to prefer competition-based reality shows—Survivor, anyone?

Yes please, sign me up! Just put Paul in a room with me and, "may the best man win!" (Shut up Jon, I was a teacher for over a decade...I got balls!)

I just saw on Alex’ instagram, Paul’s brother, that their mom passed away unexpectedly last night. Many prayers for their family. They lost a brother a few years ago and now their mom. Just so sad. I’m heartbroken for them.

OMG. More sad news. I clearly remember the video with Sha, Paul, his parents and both brothers like it was yesterday. Very sad.
