Paul Canon Comes Clean With His Mom After Finding Him On Gay Porn Site

I wasn't planning to comment on this BTS because as a cynic I know I will make some comments which might offend some people. But one of the advantages of being old and curmudgeonly is that I don't give a damn what people think of my comments and opinions, so here goes:

1. Paul's being open about his addiction was a brave but necessary step in his dealing with his addiction. And I congratulate him for that and will remember him in my daily prayers that he continue to have the strength to deal with it as they say "one day at a time". He is also blessed with a family who from all appearances are supportive of his journey of sobriety.

2. Even as a cynic, I will admit that I felt that his family was sincere in their talking about his addiction as well as his doing gay porn.

3. But also as a cynic, I don't consider this type of interview as reality in the true sense of the word. The only true reality set-up would be like the old Candid Camera show when people did not know they were being filmed. There was some type of prep because there was not one slip from the family in calling him Paul, unless of course his real name is Paul and only the Canon is made up.

4. Paul was lucky to have survived his addiction especially given the lack of prompt and efficient medical care. It is hard to believe that in this day and age people would not know to call 911. The cynic in me leads me to believe there had to be another reason why 911 was not called right away. I know several young men from my days dealing with hustlers and street trade who weren't as lucky and either didn't survive or couldn't shake their addiction.

5. The whole issue of the tee shirt didn't offend me as homophobic, but I just found it ironic that Paul gave a long soliloquy about how he hates labels and then is sporting a tee shirt proclaiming he is not a certain label.

6. This bts seems to have been filmed a while ago since he talked about moving in with Sabrina (I'm assuming at the mansion) and of course we now know he and Damien are roomies. He expressed some widely varied but serious career options. I hope he is still planning for his future with some serious career goals.

7. The one part of his interview that did bother me was his views on marriage and children; to wit "...In the future I do see myself having kids; obviously I'd like to conceive my own so the only way of doing that would be being with a woman ... but going back to being raised in a Catholic home, that's one of my really strong values is that in marriage is when you have kids and if I was married to a man, I couldn't conceive a child with him - it's impossible ..."

Well Paul, you got some learning to doing. While true two men can not conceive a child together, one or the other or both can fertilize eggs and the resultant child will have been conceived by one or the other and the surrogate carries the baby for you. So a man can can conceive a child without actually being with a woman - it's done all the time. Marriage is not the only state in which two people can have kids. A hetero man and woman can conceive a child without being married and two gay men can conceive a child via surrogacy. My concern is that Paul is working for a gay owned and operated site whose vast majority of members are gay men and if his views are not supportive of marriage equality then that bothers me. Now as I said this bts appears to have been done a while ago and maybe his views have changed. I would hope so.

The problem with the BTS is that it is taken from the BSB TV series which no one has ever seen. I noticed in a few earlier clips that we have been honoured to see that a lot older models who have now left were there. So the question is, when did they start shooting the series and how current is Paul's situation. This is slightly off thread, but we have been given half the recipe, having being promised the cake yonks ago.

My first reaction is WOW! What a powerful and emotional interview. As I share my thoughts and reactions, I do so having not read any of the comments, so as to be pure in my thoughts. I'll read those afterwards. I congratulate Broke Straight Boys for the great job they did in filming this interview. This is true Paul. What we see of him, be it on one of the videos, behind the scenes or in person, he tells it like it is. Paul, I applaud you for acknowledging your past and turning your life around. You are so, so fortunate to have a such a loving, caring and supporting family. Not everyone has that kind of support. As I recently told my staff as I change careers, Life is like a River. It has many meanders in its long journey. It starts out straight (no pun intended) and twists and turns in many directions. And just when you think you know where it is going, it suddenly changes directions. Each meander reveals something new and exciting (aka the Grand is one example). For us meanders brings good times and bad, successes and hardships. That's what life is all about, that's what makes us so Human. Paul as you look to the future your river will continue to have meanders. Yea, there will be times the path is straight (there's that pun again) just remember to be true to yourself and be yourself. Make the most of it.

I did find it most interesting that his family had questions about Paul's sexuality even before his career here. I agree the labels really have no meaning. If our dear forum leader of the past was still here, the one and only Jaymen, he would be Paul's #1 support. Jayman would lecture us (in a good whole hearted way) that we are "Sexual beings". He hated using labels and how easy we are to place labels on models. Let just say we are who we are, and leave it at that.

Keep up the good work Paul, enjoy all that life has to offer. Thank you for sharing you life and family with all of us.

I was just thinking about you Vicekid. haha I even mentioned you in a post earlier this morning. Hi! :)

Isn't that an amazing interview? I've been so blown away that I've teared up many times over the last few days just thinking about all of the emotional intensity of the situation. There are so many facets to the emotional drama that has been Paul's life up to this point. I have to agree with you that Paul's family is amazing. His mom just exudes so much warmth, kindness and love. You just know that if you ever met her in person that you would immediately like her...a lot. His dad too. His brothers may be caught up in the macho reticence of not wanting to show a tender, sensitive side to the camera... But you can tell that they form a loving and accepting tightknit family.

I totally agree!! Paul could easily be a best friend to any of us. How wonderful it is for Paul to have such a dedicated loving REAL FAMILY as well as his FORUM Family. He gets the Best of Both Worlds (oh, a Star Trek Episode).

Thank you, Tampa, as far as I'm concerned, us South Georgia/North Florida rednecks gotta stand together! lol

Welcome Lee!! Like tampa said it is a wonderful post. Paul has indeed stole a lot of hearts and I'm glad you see that us members don't have just a lust for some of these boys, but we actually do care for them.

Thank you, Peterh, I am proud to read about and cyber "meet" a bunch of like-minded persons who can enjoy the model's performances and at this same time, truly are and know about the tribulations going around the sight, leading to a "taking under the wing" so-to-speak of the one who needs it with no preconceived notions or dreaded labels to get in the way. My niece says it best "The only thing that needs a label is a soup can, cause I don't like tomato". Leedwb

You picked up on all of the forum culture in here, as it were, in short order Lee. I'm impressed. Of course we do watch the porn and enjoy for ts own sake sometimes . But because this is a reality site where we get interviews with the models rather than just moans, like so many other sites. We really do care about our favorite models and we try to see the all models as real people, rather than just an objectified piece of meat.

just an objectified piece of meat.

Wooow, wait a minute. Just in case you do want an "objectified piece of meat" Leedwb, Tampa's number is " 555-fuc-meto. Don't worry, I've got your back Tampa and, since you're gay, someone else needs to take care of your front; just sayin'.

Oh yeah, hey Leedwb!:bump:

LOL - welcome to our dysfunctional family Leedwb....

There was another facet to the video that leads me to believe that Paul's family has a healthcare background. My own immediate and extended family of three generations has strong ties to the healthcare field. My family has a former hospital department administrator, 2 ARNP's, 5 RN's (and at least one more in nursing school), 3 EMT paramedics, a dental assistant (who helps the dentist perform oral surgeries), a pharmacist tech, a heart cath tech, an X-ray tech, a medical transcriptionist, a medical records specialist, a receptionist for a doctor's office and a fulltime telephone operator for a large hospital. And that's really just a sampling. lol There are even more in my family who have at least tangential ties to healthcare, with more relatives going in that direction as they come of age.

I've been through over 20 surgeries and several more hospitalizations than that in my life. (With major surgery literally starting from day one.) So I know the healthcare field from the other side of the fence. :) When I'm around my family, I feel very safe. lol

All this to say that as I listened to Paul's family, I noticed bits of conversation and references that are familiar to me when my own family gets together for large gatherings. lol :) So while some of us expressed some reservations on another thread about the issue of calling 911, I'm also pretty sure we aren't dealing with a family who doesn't know anything about medicine or healthcare. Paul was in good hands. In more ways than one. :)

I have more respect for this outstanding guy for the courage he had to come clean with his Mom and his family..... It took allot of courage and guts to do this some might agree and some wont but God going Paul,

Oh, shucks and golly gee, thanks Tampa, Beth and John... hmmm, and here is Beth already trying to fix me up on here something about keeping watch on a front and stuff.

Great Reception guys, I think we should keep our Paul going strong and maybe even add a touch of Mick, and Zander Floyd,

Thanks to everyone who enjoyed this sneak peek into the life of Paul Canon. It took a lot of coordination and hard work to get his family to open up and really say what they wanted to in a public forum (not to mention traveling to Florida--the back wood of Florida, lol). His family was amazing and his mother stole all our hearts. His brother's were very cool and accepting as well. If it were my family, I'm not sure if they would have been so open.

Everyone has a story to tell. Guys who do this type of work often have more interesting tales to tell than most, but that's part of the game. There is a science to getting straight guys to do this type of work and we touch upon a little of that in the show, but it goes much deeper than that. Glad you enjoyed it and there are more similar to this coming up in the future. Wait until you hear Damien Kyle's story!

When I first read this, I was like....ok, Damien and Paul have established themselves pretty well on this site both, as models and personalities. Getting to know "The Rest of the Story".....as it were, just helps me see them as real people. I am still able to enjoy their work because, their work speaks for itself! Plus, there is a seemingly large push to get the audience ready for the Broke Straight Boys-TV show. This all seems to support that!

Here is where I am feeling the "Disconnect" though. We are getting soooo much information about the models, how they are being worked with to make them better performers, how they are trying to do what the members want to see etc. So much delving into their back grounds. There is so much push to please everyone that, I find it harder and harder to watch a performance without trying to figure out; "Who's card did they select this week"? Oh, this scene has riming so....it must be so and so, or "there's foot worship" so....it must be the guy......my point is, where is the spontaneous, exploration of the guys trying things that work in a scene, that they are comfortable with or discover they like without it being so seemingly staged? The other thing (for me) is, while I like getting to know a little more about the models, at what point do I stop watching them as (this sounds bad but to make a point) "guys I can lust after and desire" as part of my fantasy without feeling sorry for the way their life has been ? Do I lust, or do I take pity on them? I enjoy watching the guys and the porn, but it's getting harder and harder for me to just enjoy their performances with out thinking about all of the other stuff going in. Does this make sense to any one besides me?

I enjoy this site more than most of the sites I visit but,( mostly because of the forum) with the rare exceptions anymore, I don't get off on the scenes like I used to.

a secret remains a secret, until you reveal it. a fantasy remains a fantasy, until you realize it.
this reality, Potemkin reality, virtual reality, and hardcore porn thing is too 21 century for me.
you see a rose and admire its beauty. you bend to smell the rose. a bee stings your nose. the rose is the porn and the bee is reality.
