Sad day for America, our national hero died today!! This doesn't seem to be a good week for Armstrong's!!

I have no memory of the actual moon walk in real time, but I remember my dad, who isn't a sentimentalist, taking me outside, pointing to the moon and and telling me a man had walked safely on the surface of that distant planet.

I don't know why, but that tiny, fragment of memory is forever encapsulated in my heart.

RIP Neil Armstrong

His moon walk was before my time, but one of the greatest moments in history. What an amazing memory to have, and legacy to pass on.

I was only a year old but my head is filled with movie reels from the space exploration era. He and the rest of the amazing scientists and astronauts from that era are my childhood heros. Their courage shaped so much of my generation's culture and instilled in us the idea that we can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone. It was a very exciting and awe inspiring time.

I was in 1st grade and i remember them having an assembly in the auditorium with the whole school. I didn't really know what was going on, just thought cool no class work!

of the 5 dates that i remember most, the day he stepped upon the surface of the moon is one of my best memories.
if it were a fake, it was well done!
if it was real, it was well done!

I remember the day that he walked on the moon. I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Armstrong while I was attending a family
reunion with a friend of mine back in Wapakanetta, OH several years ago. Not sure of that town's spelling.
