San Fernando Valley porn production halts after HIV-positive test

Adult-film studios across the San Fernando Valley were asked to halt production Wednesday after a female performer tested positive for HIV, a trade group for the industry announced.
The Free Speech Coalition, the Canoga Park-based trade group for the adult-film industry, called for the moratorium after consulting with Adult Production Health and Safety Services, a group of medical providers that test performers.
“We are following established protocols for the protection of the performers,” said Diane Duke, executive director for the Free Speech Coalition.
The group’s call for a moratorium is voluntary, but the bigger players in the industry generally work with the coalition.
“Adult film producers and performers are cooperative and compliant with these requests, especially keeping in mind the safety and health of performers,” Duke said. “Moratoriums have lasted various lengths of time, from a few days to a few weeks; in the current situation, we are expecting the moratorium to last for a few days.”
Adult film production has been halted from time to time by the industry itself when cases of a sexually transmitted infection have either been suspected or confirmed.
