To answer your questions, I know David the same way that you do, through his work in the episodes and on the forum. And I am 60 years old, and remember the same things as you do.
I am also Jewish and gay and I find self deprecating humor funny, when said in a playful fun way. I've called myself and friends a faggot, queer, cocksucker, and a kike and a Yid, etc. I think that humorists such as Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Andrew Dice Clay and Howard Stern are all funny and have made me laugh. Perhaps I see humor in things that you do not, but we all have our own sensibilities.
You obviously have your own sensibilities and have every right to them, but so do I, and I find David's somewhat clumsy attempts at humor to be just that and I take absolutely no offence to his quips and jokes during the episodes. I fact, I enjoy them very much.
